Lol I've been visiting RPG every day for the past year looking for an Overlord RP and the one day I didn't check there's a thread posted and full up. :D
Upon observing Kaz's surprised remark, Kirishima moved her hand to her mouth for confirmation. Contrary to what she had expected if she really was in YGGDRASIL, the first thing she felt was the sensation of her hand touching upon her chin. However, several senses did not exist in YGGDRASIL, and touch was one of them.
Although she was at a complete lost at whatever was happening to them currently, several theories floated to the surface of Kirishima's unusually calm and rational mind:
Theory #1. The developers of YGGDRASIL had accidentally released the successor to YGGDRASIL, a more advanced version with additional senses. That would explain the suddenly increased realism of their surroundings as well as the seemingly lifelike behavior of the NPCs' behaviors. The flaw with this theory: No mention about a YGGDRASIL 2 had been mentioned in any communication from the company. They were very clear that YGGDRASIL was to be shut down and no further releases were planned.
Theory #2. The YGGDRASIL developers had gone rogue or otherwise insane and trapped all players inside the game for whatever reason. That would explain why the Log Out, Contact GM, and every other system interface was currently inaccessible. However, that would not explain the sudden increase in realism of their surroundings. The flaw with this theory: it was based completely on past fictional stories about virtual reality MMOs and several anime shows and movies were created based on this exact scenario. The probability of the fictional death-game virtual MMO scenario was nearly zero.
Theory 3#. Everything around them was completely real. The Palace of Whispers was a real fortress, she was an actual Android, and Kaz beside her was an actual Revanant. And before them, was an actual master illusionist, a shapeshifting master assassin, and an incredibly powerful insane vampire. So far, there was no evidence to disprove this theory, although what could not be explained was "how" this situation came to be.
Further evidence to support Theory #3 became apparent when Kirishima realized just how calm and rational her mind had remained in this situation when she would definitely be panicking and screaming, or at least some sort of anxiety like Kaz had shown.
But there was none. Despite the completely bizarre scenario she had found herself in, she felt perfectly calm. In fact, she quickly realized she didn't feel much of anything at all, other than her physical senses. Had she really become her YGGDRASIL character, an android?
“Holy shit!” Kirishima heard Kaz exclaim as he had just used his hand to pat the red-eyed Erzsebet on the head. Glancing towards his direction, Kirishima caught sight of a creeping grin on Erzsebet's bloodied lips as the crimson glow in her eyes flared out.
In an inhumanly quick movement, Kirishima grabbed out at Kaz and swiftly pulled him back away from Erzsebet as one would quickly yank a friend out of the way of an incoming bus. As Erzsebet's creator, Kirishima knew certain things about the vampire that Kaz did not.
First, was that from what she observed, each of the NPCs was behaving exactly as she had written in their character descriptions when she created them. First, Erzsebet was designed to be incredibly dangerous with a mind on the verge of complete insanity, therefore her behavior had to be considered unpredictable and likely dangerous. Second, if the NPC's numerical statistics had carried over to this "new world", then she and Kaz were standing before the strongest NPC contained within the Palace of Whispers.
As the single strongest raid-class NPC, Erzsebet was designed to be strong enough to single-handedly defeat several hundreds of fully-equipped and well-coordinated level 100 players without any additional support. Not even the entire guild of Seekers of Fate could defeat Erzsebet without at least some preparation and strategy. However, in their current state of ignorance and confusion, the probability was essentially zero.
"Kaz, listen to me very carefully - you do not want to be that close to Erzsebet, never mind patting her on the head!" Kirishima quietly whispered to Kaz's ear, hopefully out of earshot of the other now very lifelike NPCs.
Looking back towards Erzsebet, half-expecting for the vampire to leap and attack them at any moment. However, Erzsebet had not even taken a step forward from where she stood. Instead, she was tenderly rubbing the spot on her head where Kaz had patted.
"Oh, to be granted a loving touch from a of the Supreme One!" A crazed wail escaped from the vampire's lips as her speech derailed towards unintelligible muttering about being "blessed", "undeserving", and several mentions about "Supreme Ones". By "Supreme Ones", did she mean Kaz? By the plural "Ones", did she mean to include Kirishima?
The thought then occurred to Kirishima that perhaps the NPCs were not hostile towards Kaz and herself. But the thought that they would be worshiped by her creations was completely unexpected. She had to confirm that they were loyal, at least to her.
"Gwydion, Mercuria, and... Erzsebet," Kirishima began speaking towards the three NPCs before her, trying her best to put forth the most authoritative voice she could despite knowing absolutely nothing about their current situation other than the few theories she had come up with.
"There is something I want to know from each of you. First, who am I to you? Second, to whom do you serve?"
The hooded Gwydion was the first to step forward, already bending at the knee which he rested his arm upon as he lowered his head.
"You are Lady Kirishima, my master and my creator. I, Gwydion, your Master of Illusions, exist to serve your will and that of the Seekers of Fate."
The second was Mercuria, who calmly strode forward in her thin robes of fine white silk. She too stopped beside Gwydion and took on the same kneeling posture.
"Lady Kirishima, you are my one true master, the one who has granted me the gift of existence and to serve your will and that of the Seekers of Fate."
The third and last was Erzsebet, who actually seemed to become somewhat more tranquil compared to her characteristic insane state, came forward and knelt before Kirishima and Kaz.
"Lady Kirishima, you are my creator and the only one I will ever call my master. I exist only to serve as your instrument of chaos and destruction."
If Kirishima was indeed still human, she would have undoubtedly recoiled in pure shock at the NPCs' fervent display of worship before her. To their eyes, she and Kaz were, in Erzsebet's own words "Supreme Ones", whom they regarded like gods.
However, it was somewhat calming to finally put to rest her previous concerns about the loyalty of the three most powerful of her creations. Now that she no longer had reason to regard the NPCs as a possible threat, she now had the opportunity to turn her attention to the surroundings beyond the Throne Room, and even the walls of the Palace of Whispers.
In this situation which she knew nothing of, knowledge of the unknown was of paramount importance. Before she could proceed with figuring out a plan to return to the real world, never mind if such a thing was even possible anymore, she had to learn whether or not there were any threats that existed in this strange new world, and whether or not she and the others at her side could defend against them.
But first, she had to establish whether or not there were any other Seekers that were still within the Palace of Whispers. If there were any Seekers that chose to spend their last moments in YGGDRASIL alone, then perhaps they were brought along to this new world as well. And if they were alone, they were likely to be scared and worried about being trapped.
Although the Contact GM function failed to work, perhaps the normal Message skill could successfully reach any other Seekers that were also brought into this world.
Not completely sure how she would activate such a skill without the assistance of a system interaction menu, Kirishima hoped that concentrating her mind on the concept of a "Message" skill would be good enough. Sure enough, in her mind, Kirishima could almost feel an invisible strand of her own consciousness reaching out into her surroundings, as if probing for something to reach out to it.
[Message: Guild]
"This is Kirishima to any guild members within the Palace of Whispers. If you can hear this, please do not be afraid. We have gathered within the Throne Room and are here waiting for you. Please come here as soon as you can, we have much to discuss about our current situation."
Imagining the strand of consciousness being severed, Kirishima ended the transmission, which she hoped would reach any guild members close by. With the concerns about her fellow Seekers now dealt with, the next issue was about the security of the Palace of Whispers, both within its walls and outside.
Kirishima then looked towards the three NPCs before her, who had all risen back to their feet and were waiting on her attentively as if expecting orders.
Kirishima knew that she would be safest with Gwydion by her side, knowing that with his highest Karma rating out of the three NPCs, he was the least likely to turn against them. Mercuria was a complete mystery as her facial expression remained constantly neutral and lacking emotion, so the probability of her betrayal could not even be estimated. Erzsebet carried the most red flags in terms of safety, and she could not be trusted to venture too far away from the confines of the Palace's walls due to her unpredictability.
"First, we need to establish an understanding of our current surroundings before we can decide our next course of action. Mercuria, I need you to leave the Palace of Whispers and patrol its surroundings. I need to know what is out there, and if there is anything that can pose an immediate threat to us. If you encounter any intelligent life, do not let yourself be detected under any circumstances. Do not interact with any people that may be out there. And Erzsebet, I need you to establish our current state of security within the Palace of Whispers. Patrol its halls and determine whether there are any invaders present or anything that can pose a threat. Under no circumstances are you to attack any of the Seekers."
All three of the NPCs bowed their heads forward in acknowledgement of the orders they were each given, and with the exception of Gwydion, each of them turned to exit the Throne Room and soon vanished from sight.
Now Kirishima had the confirmation she needed that this was no longer YGGDRASIL or anything that could be the result of a virtual MMO company gone rogue. Even the most advanced virtual MMO in existence could not produce any kind of AI able to follow the verbal orders she had just given. In YGGDRASIL, each NPC could only perform actions that they were specifically coded to do. In YGGDRASIL, Mercuria was designed specifically to assassinate high-threat caster-class players and could not be ordered to perform actions other than attack a target or prepare to ambush in a specific location. Likewise, Erzsebet was programmed to always stay within the boundaries of the Throne Room area to act as the Palace of Whisper's final boss. Now, each one of her creations truly acted as if they were independently-thinking living beings, although they seemed to regard her and Kaz as "Supreme Ones" on the level of gods.
The final task now was to establish whether she was still able to utilize magic and other abilities from YGGDRASIL in this new world. If she wasn't even able to cast a single magic spell, then she was truly hopeless to defend herself against anything.
Kirishima then proceeded to give Gywdion his orders.
"Gwydion, use your Illusory Sphere spell to create an environment suitable for a large-scale battle. I would like for us to test out the full extent of our abilities."
"Of course, my Lady, it will take only a moment." Gwydion bowed in response as he proceeded to raise a hand in preparation to cast his spell.
"[Illusory Sphere - Create Endless Battlefield]"
What happened first was the sight of the Throne Room rippling wildly, as if everything around her had been submerged within water and she was just noticing the water for the first time. Eventually, the ripples within reality began spreading, merging everything around her into one chaotic mess of shapeless colors.
And then, as if swept by an invisible painter's brush, the swirl of shapeless colors formed itself into an entirely different scene.
Kirishima found herself no longer surrounded by the vastness of the Throne Room, the cool breeze of wind rushing by made this fact incredibly obvious. Green grass was now beneath her feet instead of tiled floors, stretching in all directions as far as the eye could see. Where there were ceilings was now the endless expansiveness of a blue sky, lightly covered with approaching grey clouds.
It was truly was an endless battlefield.
"[Summon Greater Legion of Shadow]"
With Gwydion's second magical incantation, a bright white beam of light shone down from the illusory clouds above, sweeping horizontally across the endless grasslands.
As the beam of light passed, Kirishima could see new figures appearing upon the vast battlefield. Each figure was covered with heavy black plated armor and armed with a dazzling array of weaponry - swords, spears, bows, shields. Each of their faces were obscured by a matching black plated helmet with a thin eye slit that revealed nothing but darkened shadows.
"Behold, a truly mighty army worthy of testing the strength of the Supreme Ones. Although each soldier is but a forgery, make no mistake, within this Illusory Sphere, their illusory blades are as deadly as blades of forged metal." Gwydion's proud voice boomed over the sound of the light gust of wind roaring across the newly formed battlefield.
Although Kirishima's facial expressions displayed no visible reaction to this new sight, inwardly, she could not help but ponder whether or not she was ready. Her passive racial skill, [Analyze Target] automatically activated as she carefully inspected each soldier within the walled formation in the distance. Their figures were each clearly outlined by a red colored overlay, indicating they were hostile.
"Each of these soldiers is an NPC, with levels ranging between 60 and 80. Their numbers... is difficult to determine. I'm counting five thousand, no, six thousand, seven..." Kirishima said aloud to Kaz and whoever was also gathered nearby.
"Final count: seven thousand, five hundred soldiers. Average level: 70. If this was still YGGDRASIL, I would say that we could handle this without any problem. However, I don't know whether we still retain our powers and abilities from YGGDRASIL. So, we need to proceed with caution. In the event we are unable to use our magic to defend ourselves..."
Kirishima did not finish her sentence. It was obvious what the consequences were if they were unable to use any magic from YGGDRASIL to defend themselves against this summoned arm summoned army. While Kaz, as a melee-focused fighter, could manage to stand a chance against this army equipped with melee weaponry, Kirishima was a mostly caster-type build, and a poorly optimized build at that. Even if she was to bring out her Fallen Angel Scythe, she did not possess the means to withstand a prolonged close-quarters battle.
Now, if she could just find a way to access her character's inventory...
Acting more on instinct than anything, Kirishima did the first action that felt natural to reach for one of her stored weapons. Feeling her hand pass through some sort of empty void, Kirishima's hand easily found the object it was searching for: her most trusted weapon and the pinnacle of her achievement in YGGDRASIL, the Divine-Class Linearizer Mk II railgun she had constructed from a rare and expensive magical staff weapon. Her fingers quickly found and wrapped around the weapon's grip, pulling it out of the void that served as her inventory space in this new world.
The weapon carried some definite weight to it, but with her enhanced android strength, Kirishima pulled out the full length of the magical railgun, using her left hand to help support its weight. This was the first time she had actually felt the shape and weight of the weapon she considered her greatest invention, as YGGDRASIL never featured the sense of touch within the game.
Finding the switch that controlled the weapon's firing modes, Kirishima absentmindedly flicked through each one: from semi-automatic to burst-fire, to fully-automatic, then back to semi-automatic. Looking at the fully assembled NPC army in the distance and quickly confirming their vastly superior numbers, Kirishima flicked the switch back to "automatic".
"Gwydion, we're ready. Let us begin." Kirishima spoke to Gwydion with a glance as she balanced the length of the railgun against her shoulder, then lowered it in the standard two-handed grip.
"Very well. The battle begins - now."
At once, the entire assembled formation of soldiers moved together as one, first a single step, then two, then as they built up speed, they burst forward into a charge.
As billowing clouds of dust were kicked up by their movements, Kirishima positioned the sights of the railgun to her eyes. Using the flood of tactical information provided by her [Analyze Target] passive skill, Kirishima took note of each individual soldiers positions, speed, and distance. She could already feel the accelerated processing of her android mind sift through all the data at a rate that would easily overwhelm her normal human self.
The flood was immense and utterly indescribable in mere words. Although she did not truly understand how she was able to perceive all this data and successfully understand it, she could feel her mind already beginning to prioritize each of her targets.
The first priority target had already fallen as she pulled the Linearizer's trigger, unleashing a stream of mana-charged projectiles that let out a loud "buzz - hiss" sound as it charged up and fired. Then the second, the third. The barrel of Kirishima's weapon jerked from side to side as she lined up each of her targets, each pull of the trigger taking down at least one target each time, sometimes several if they were bunched up close together.
Within the first ten seconds of battle, she had already counted several hundred of illusory warriors downed by her weapon, which continued unleashing annihilation in projectile form towards the assembled army of thousands.
"[Linearize Magic: True Void]"
With Kirishima's magical invocation of her signature spell, the Linearizer suddenly surged with magical energy as the True Void spell manifested itself into projectile form. In YGGDRASIL, the True Void spell was a high-tiered area of effect magic spell that was normally ineffective against players with a moderate amount of resistance against Dark-type spells. However, against woefully-equipped players and non-boss type monsters lower than level 80, it was capable of instantly killing its target.
Pulling upon the trigger to unleash the Linearized spell, a projectile of pure darkness shot out from the railgun's two-pronged barrel directly into the center of the incoming line of soldiers. Upon striking the first soldier, the projectile silently expanded into an encompassing shadowy sphere that effortlessly swallowed up several hundred other nearby soldiers into a dark void, which instantly shrank back into nothingness, leaving behind a sizable gap in their formation.
For the first time since she had arrived in this new world, a very human thought suddenly crossed her mind.
The holographic clock in Kirishima's field of view ticked closer towards midnight, which was to be the time YGGDRASIL was to be shut down forever. There were several minutes left until the timer reached 0:00:00, where she and everyone else in YGGDRASIL would be forced to logout by the game system.
By now, the small handful of Seekers of Fate guild members who agreed to stay behind to join each other in the game's final moments were surely already gathered within the Throne Room of the Palace of Whispers. As the guild's leader, Kirishima had a responsibility to be with her guild members, especially during their final moments. Even if she was only a guild leader by title only, she was still their friend, and them to her. Therefore, it was her responsibility as their friend to be at their side.
However, Kirishima was still within the futuristically-styled Avalon Facility, her personalized domain within the Palace of Whispers. She had one other responsibility that she had to take care of before she left for the Throne Room. Behind her, where numerous NPCs of various shapes and appearances, most of which were designed by her own hands and effort. Unlike the human guild members, which would return to the real world after YGGDRASIL's shutdown, each of these creations would simply cease to exist the moment the holographic clock struck midnight. Kirishima could not bear to simply leave them where they stood within the Palace of Whispers without a proper farewell. Although they were artificial creations, Kirishima considered them part of the Seekers of Fate due to the long history and experiences they shared together. Each of these NPCs were unique and reflected upon certain qualities of their creators, therefore, each of these creations deserved their own farewell.
One by one, Kirishima issued a verbal order to each of the NPCs gathered behind her to stand upon the teleportation pad laid in the center of the wide room of futuristic holographic displays and high-tech computer consoles. As each NPC stepped upon the pad as ordered, Kirishima said her final farewells, referring to each NPC by their given name. As she touched upon the holographic panel, each NPC was bathed in a shimmering blue light as their bodies were dematerialized by the teleportation device.
Eventually, only four NPCs remained, each one towered above Kirishima's head. Each of these NPCs were obviously non-human, mounted upon horses of strange and unique design. These NPCs possessed the title of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, representing four of the Seekers of Fate's strongest NPCs. Unlike any of the other NPCs serving within the Palace of Whispers, each one of the four Horsemen had a unique history that extended before the time the original Seekers set foot upon YGGDRASIL. Kirishima would never forget each of their names and their history.
Conquest, the Deliverer of Promised Victory. Conquest was created in the image of the original leader of the Seekers of Fate. The leader of their group from the very first MMO the Seekers were established. His personality settings were designed to reflect upon the righteous and honorable nature of the original guild leader.
Next was Famine, the Scourge of Corruption. One could easily feel a strange, eerie aura emanating from him due to his strange design. Out of all the four Horsemen, the design of his character was the most featureless, but at the same time the most intimidating. Famine's personality design was based upon one of the most powerful PVPers in the original Seekers of Fate who was known within the group to complete lose himself in the heat of battle, becoming a "berserker" of sorts who fought against his enemies without any regard to his character's safety. Famine's Karma setting was nearly at the lowest possible value, reflecting upon the vicious and bloodthirsty Seeker he was based upon. Kirishima was silently thankful that Famine was merely an NPC that followed her orders and not a real living being.
The third was War, the Blade of Armageddon. Once could describe the Seeker he was based upon as the gruff "tough guy" that never showed any kindness or emotion, but was always loyal and protective of his friends to the very end. He was friends with the Seekers' guild leader in real life and acted as his faithful right hand in every MMO the Seekers played.
The fourth and the last was Death, the Harvester of Departed Souls. This last NPC was different from the others as it was the only female within the group of four. The Seeker this NPC was based upon was none other than Kirishima herself. In fact, each of the Four Horsemen's character designs were based upon the four Seeker's characters from their past MMOs, from their character's physical appearances to their weapon of choice.
In a way, each of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse represented the long history of the Seekers of Fate. With the exception of Death, they represented long-lost friends that Kirishima would never meet again or have the chance to say their final farewells.
"...Goodbye." Kirishima managed to whisper out loud a single word of farewell as she was completely lost for words in this somber moment.
After a short moment of silence, it was then that Kirishima realized that she had been unknowingly hesitating. As the holographic clock ticked closer to midnight, Kirishima commanded the four NPCs to step upon the teleportation pad, then with a final tap upon the holographic panel controlling the teleportation device, sent the Four Horsemen to the Avalon Facility's storage area.
With the Avalon Facility now completely void of anyone's presence besides herself, Kirishima lifted the hand carrying her guild ring.
"Teleport destination: Throne Room."
---
As the sight of the Avalon Facility's softly glowing holographic panels faded from view and was replaced by the golden lighting reflecting off the Palace of Whisper's halls, Kirishima found herself standing before the grand and lengthy hall leading to the inner chamber of the Throne Room.
As she stepped towards the chamber where the last of the Seekers were waiting, Kirishima realized that she was not alone in the hallway as three shadowed figures stood silently before her, motionless. To her left was a female dressed in white cloth and a flowing white cape. It was Mercuria, her first created NPC within the Palace of Whispers. To her right was a cloaked figure dressed in a robe of green. Kirishima recognized the NPC was Gwydion, the human NPC she had created to commemorate the joining of the first non-heteromorphic players into the Seekers of Fate's membership. The sight of the third NPC who stood in the middle immediately sent involuntary shivers down her spine. The female's glowing-red eyes shone brightly within the dimly-lit hallway, illuminating the dried blood that stained the sides of her mouth as well as the front of her long leather jacket. Kirishima stood frozen in her momentarily stunned state, although in her mind she let out a little mental yelp.
Kirishima realized that she had neglected to store the NPCs of the Throne Room into the Avalon Facility's storage area. Sighing at her forgetfulness, Kirishima shook her head. It was too late to turn back and store these last few NPCs now.
"Mercuria, Gwydion, Erzsebet, follow me." Kirishima ordered the three NPCs as she walked past them, who then responded by trailing behind her in single file. As Kirishima lead the other NPCs towards the Throne Room, she tried her best to avoid glancing over her shoulder, knowing Erzsebet's glowing-red eyes and bloody grinning lips were just behind her.
As Kirishima and the other NPCs entered the main chamber of the Throne Room, Kirishima stopped for a moment to look upon the small handful of Seekers who had already gathered, seated around the round table positioned in the center of the room. For a moment, Kirishima's imagination took over, and for a moment, she thought she could see each of the original Seekers seated around the table, smiling and laughing at each other wholeheartedly as they conversed.
I wish I could see them all again, and say my goodbyes to each of them properly.
Shaking the imaginary sight from her mind, Kirishima turned to look at the NPCs behind her.
"Stand guard here and wait." Kirishima issued what was to be her final orders to her three creations. At once, each of them nodded their heads in acknowledgement, and stood in a new formation with Erzsebet standing in the middle, Mercuria to her right, and Gwydion to her left. Each of the stared ahead blankly into the distance, although Erzsebet's faint grin remained fixed on her bloodied lips.
Kirishima then took her place at the round table with the other gathered Seekers. With the Throne Room's extravagant size and grand design, the small handful of Seekers gathered around the table made the room seem incredibly abandoned and empty. Many of the guild members had already quit shortly after the announcement of YGGDRASIL's shutdown date, and this was all that was left of a once large and powerful guild.
Kirishima clasped her hands together upon the table before her as looked towards the other Seekers. She had never been one who was particularly good, or even barely adequate, at long and elaborate speeches, but she felt the need to at least say something to these friends that willingly stayed behind to enjoy their last few minutes together as a guild.
"Thank you all for being here on our last day. After today, everything we have accomplished together as the Seekers of Fate will be no more, and each of us will return to our everyday lives. We all knew that this day would come eventually, but none of us could have thought it would come so suddenly. So, before we say our final goodbyes, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for everything. Thank you for being my friends, thank you for staying by my side until the very end."
Kirishima looked up at the holographic timer in her visual interface. There was less than a minute left before the server would shut down at 0:00:00. The timer was now counting down the final seconds.
Kirishima leaned back into her seat at the round table as the clock ticked down to the end of YGGDRASIL.
Then the end came: 0:00:00.
But it didn't stop there.
0:00:01.
...
0:00:02.
...
0:00:03.
Kirishima was expecting to be forcibly kicked off the server by a forced logout, but she remained at the round table within the Palace's Throne Room. She blinked once, twice, but the timer continued to count upwards.
"What's going on? Wasn't the server supposed to be shut down now? Why are we still here?" Kirishima wondered out loud as her mind was expecting for her to be within the familiarity of her room in the real world. Then her mind began churning out several possible explanations, one after the other.
Did the server adminstrators really delay the shutdown, or cancel it altogether? It was impossible, there were many official announcements on YGGDRASIL's main website clearly stating the server's shutdown date and time. There was absolutely no way they would suddenly go back on their decision on such short notice.
Then her mind began formulating other possible theories. Ever since the first DMMO-RPG was released, there were many fictional stories about players being stuck within virtual worlds, or being forced to participate in a death game where death in the game meant the player dying in real life. These stories were popular and rather numerous, but as DMMO-RPGs became more widespread, these stories seemed more and more unlikely to happen.
However, did those stories just become reality?
Testing out what should be the most ridiculous of the possible theories, Kirishima waved her hand in the air to summon the control interface to manually log herself out from YGGDRASIL.
But no interface appeared.
Kirishima could barely hear the sound of herself uttering out several swear words as she tried frantically to summon some sort of control interface to log out or summon a GM for assistance. Despite her frantic movements, Kirishima could feel a strange lack of anxiety despite her current situation. There was no way that she could feel this calm while being unable to log out from the game.
"Lady Kirishima, is something the matter? Should you require it, I am yours to command." A calm male voice spoke.
"If there is a threat that needs to be dealt with, I shall take care of it by your command." Spoke a calm, emotionless female voice that flowed like cold metal.
"If something needs to be killed, I shall make the rivers run red with its blood!" Another female voice spoke proudly, although its speaker seemed like it was rather on the verge of insanity.
Kirishima was stunned to hear these voices that she did not recognize. It was obviously not from the other Seekers, who were probably in the same state of confusion as she was.
Then the source of the three voices became immediately apparent as she turned to face the three NPCs she had ordered to stand on guard minutes earlier: Gwydion, Mercuria, and Erzsebet.
Just copying a few important announcements from the Skype chat for those of us who check the forums more than Skype:
[12:44:11 AM] Stella: I'm adding on a section on the OOC thread for our characters' special map areas within the Palace of Whispers. If you have anything designed for your own map area, send it to me in some way (PM, titanpad link, etc) and I'll add it in
[12:46:21 AM] Stella: Second is for Red but also for everyone else. Since Red is moving soon and may be away for some time, and because we're starting a bit late - If it comes to the situation where Red is away to move before we get the RP IC post going, we can have his character have a delayed start, like appear in the New World at a slightly delayed time, or something else that can explain the delay. Red if you have any ideas, let me know too. :P Anyways, hopefully my intro IC post can come very soon, I'm writing it right now actually.
[1:18:20 AM] Stella: And to get everyone ready for their first IC post, the general idea is for us to meet in the Throne Room, go through the countdown, freak out when they're still there, within the first post. Aka has his own IC post preplanned, but that's the gist of it. You can start however you like, such as start in your character's personal quarters, or outside the Palace, or elsewhere inside, then move onto the Throne Room. Just a few helpful tips to help you guys along your first IC post. I know those intro posts can be major pain in the butt :P
Just checking to see how far along you guys are in preparing your characters. Eklispe: Haven't heard from you in the Skype chat so wondering if you're still with us, Urukhai: You mentioned your character sheet is nearly done, and not rushing you here, just checking up. :P
Once I know for sure how many of us are on board and ready to commit, I can get a better idea how to set up the intro IC post.

Due to her mixed-role build, Kirishima's power as a magic caster is actually below-average in PvP situations against players of similar level, probably ranking within the lower-to-middle tiers of other level 100 magic casters. Instead of relying on pure magical combat, much of Kirishima's strength comes from the special characteristics of her high-tiered Divine-class equipment and her ability to create various powerful items and equipment. In terms of offensive and defensive ability, Kirishima is a mostly glass-cannon type character, capable of dealing extreme burst damage within a short amount of time, but unable to withstand direct attacks for extended amounts of time against players of similar level and skill.
Active and Passive Abilities (Optional):
Eagle's Eye: A spell that grants the user absolute accuracy with their next ranged attack as long as line-of-sight is maintained.
Mana Wall: A defensive-type spell that creates a wall of mana to shield the user from magic attacks. Damage is absorbed by the user's MP instead of their HP.
Soul Sacrifice: Allows user to temporarily cast spells at the cost of their HP instead of their MP.
Magic Seal: Seals the user's next casted spell, delaying its activation until it is released by invoking Magic Seal once more.
True Void: A high-tiered area of effect magic spell, normally ineffective against targets with a moderate amount of resistance against Dark-type spells. However, against woefully-equipped targets lower than level 80, it was capable of an instant kill. Similar to the Black Hole spell, True Void has a much larger area of effect but much less potent against targets with adequate defenses.
Over Rank Magics (Optional):
Let Justice Be Done Though the Heavens Fall: Summons numerous pillars of blinding light from the heavens to strike down upon the ground around the caster, incinerating everything within a wide radius with extreme heat, both living and nonliving alike.
Storm of Ten Thousand Blades: An Over-Rank spell unlocked by reaching maximum level in both the Master Inventor and Artisan of Magic job classes. Summons and launches a volley of ten thousand Divine, Legendary and Relic-quality swords at a target like arrows. Each summoned sword vanishes seconds after striking its target or any other surface. This spell provides excellent destructive power capable of destroying any enemies and leveling structures within close to medium range. Although the accuracy of each individual sword is poor, the overwhelming volume of swords launched more than compensates with raw destructive power.
Analyze Target (Passive): Evaluates the strength and threat level of enemies, and whether a target is likely to be friendly, neutral, or hostile.
Identify Magic (Passive): Evaluates the identity and properties of magical effects, whether they are present within a certain area or enchanted onto a person or item.
Regeneration Protocol (Passive): Passively regenerates HP at a slow rate as long as it remains above zero.
Reactive Mana Core (Passive): Nullifies low to mid-level spells and passively regenerates MP at a slow rate.
Special Skills (Optional):
Linearize Magic: The special skill of the Artisan of Magic class, which specializes in the manipulation and enhancement of magic. The Artisan of Magic class is considered one of the most difficult specialized classes to obtain in YGGDRASIL. Unlike many skills in YGGSDRASIL that could be leveled up simply by continuous repetition or the use of cash items, the Artisan of Magic class also required the player to possess innate talent and skill in utilizing every element of the game's crafting and magic system to develop numerous original and powerful enchanted items. This skill allows the user to "linearize" nearly any type of spell into a high-velocity projectile, allowing near-instantaneous casting of spells. While this skill does not have any cooldown, the drawback is that rapid invocation of Linearized high-tier spells can quickly deplete the user's MP within a single round of casting. The appearance of Linearized magic can vary significantly depending on the spell. For example, Linearize Magic: Vermilion Nova is casted as continuous stream of fire, while Linearize Magic: Explosion is launched and detonated like a grenade.
Main Equipment:
Linearizer Mk II (Divine-Class Weapon): A powerful ranged weapon that seems rather out of place in a DMMO based on swords and magic, the Linearizer Mk II is a magically-enchanted railgun built by Kirishima herself. The original Linearizer Mk I was modified from a rare Divine-Class sorcerer's staff into a bolt-action ranged weapon which could be used as a conduit for Kirishima's Linearized magic spells, much like how a staff weapon acts for normal magic. The weapon retains some basic functions of the original Divine-Class staff it was built from, such as firing basic bolts of mana. The upgraded Linearizer Mk II was further enhanced with several firing modes (semi-automatic, burst-fire, fully-automatic) as well the ability to use magazine ammunition that allowed the weapon to draw MP from an external source instead of drawing it from the user. The Linearizer Mk II is only capable of firing Tiered magic spells and cannot fire Over Rank spells. Before the downfall of YGGDRASIL, Kirishima was attempting to figure out a way to design a Mk III version to get around this limitation, but it remained a conceptual design and was never constructed.
Fallen Angel's Scythe (Divine-Class Weapon): A personal creation of Kirishima, this massive silver scythe possesses a curved blade resembling a single angel's wing. If held in both hands and swung with full force, the special property of the scythe's blade unleashes a wave of highly compressed air capable of acting as a cutting edge, allowing the weapon to act as a ranged weapon in times of need.
Shifter's Armored Cloak (Divine-Class Armor): A long, durable and tough leather jacket. Upon detecting an incoming threat to its wearer or by the wearer's command, the jacket is able to transform into an armor-plated cloak that nullifies low-level physical and magic attacks and reduces incoming damage while leaving the user's speed unaffected. In YGGDRASIL, the cloak automatically shifted into its armored form whenever its wearer entered combat, but in the New World, it appears to be much more intelligent and responsive to its wearer's will.
Personality (Optional):
Kirishima can be described simply as an "absent-minded genius" whose attention never remains in the same place. She is a thinker and planner by nature who prefers to act on a meticulously-designed plan of action rather than act quickly without thinking. Because of her tendency to plan her actions ahead of time, she is often caught unprepared whenever events don't unfold exactly as she expects them to. In these situations, she often acts heavy-handedly to leave little room for error.
Background:
Kirishima belonged to a small, closely-knit community of about 30 DMMO-RPG players who ventured across various online games as a united guild. In each RPG, the group would make their mark upon its world by establishing a guild within the game named Seekers of Fate as a reference to their history of drifting across various online games over time. However, the core group of members that remained together during their transitions between each RPG began to dwindle in numbers time passed, with the older members no longer having the free time with online gaming as they moved to higher education and real-life jobs.
Realizing that their small group, now numbering within the tens, would not survive more than one more transition to another online game, settled on the DMMO-RPG named YGGDRASIL, which was well-known to have an amazingly flexible world system due to the nearly-unlimited selection of character races, classes, and magic spells. With each member of the group brimming with creativity, each of them selected one of the various heteromorphic races as their character racial choice. Kirishima selected the Android race for her own character due to the racial classes's special ability to allow for further customization even after the initial character creation process. Unknownst to the Seekers, heteromorphic-race players were frequently hunted down by other players since the game did not impose any penalty on players who killed heteromorphic characters. Unwilling to give up on the world of YGGDRASIL which was to be their final RPG before disbanding the group, the members of the group whose characters most closely resembled humans volunteered to seperate from the group and integrate with other guilds of human and demi-human races.
Using this strategy of separation and infiltration, the human-like Seekers gained levels and equipment using the aid of other human-race guilds, and passed on what they could to the rest of the heteromorphic Seekers. Kirishima was one of the few members whose character could pass as a normal human, and became part of a high-ranking PvP-based guild of human race players, who readily accepted her into their group due to her high levels in skills relating to crafting magical equipment and items. Using her character's skills and her own innate talent, Kirishima was responsible for designing and creating most of the guild's custom NPCs using the guild's vast riches and resources. Although the human-based guild regularly formed parties to hunt down heteromorphic players for sport, Kirishima excused herself from participating by falsely claiming her character build was focused on item creation and crafting, and not PvP. Using her inside knowledge of the human guild's player-killing habits, Kirishima would warn her friends in the Seekers whenever parties were sent out so that they would not fall victims to the hunters.
Kirishima and the other human-like Seekers helped their heteromorphic-race friends establish a small but strong presence within YGGDRASIL, helping them gain powerful equipment to stand on equal grounds with the human race players that often hunted them down. However, when it came for the human-like Seekers to leave behind their false allegiences with the human guilds, many of them refused to return. Many of them had become too accustomed to being accepted among the human-race players and even formed close friendships with the human race players. Kirishima was among these human-like Seekers who refused to return, but she was the only one who was willing to maintain connections to the rest of the Seekers and continue to provide intel and resources.
After several months of supporting the human PvP guild with her character's crafting and creation skills, Kirishima honed her innate talent at creating unique and powerful NPCs, considerably strengthening their fighting force with a small army of NPCs. It was her hope that with such a powerful force at their command, that the human guild would set their sights on more powerful guilds and avoid the smaller group of Seekers. During Kirishima's time with the human guild, there were a few ocassions where some of the guild members had suspected her of being a heteromorphic character, especially due to the silver coloration of her character's eyes. However she explained this as the effect of a special vision-enhancing spell. Due to the huge number of spells that existed within YGGDRASIL, this explanation easily satisfied the curiousity and suspicions of her guild members, who were more interested in PvP-based spells instead. For a time, it seemed that the fragile protection Kirishima was able to offer to the Seekers was enough for them to avoid being the next target of the human guild which now continued to grow stronger each day without her assistance.
It was one day that when Kirishima logged into YGGDRASIL that she noticed that a large number of her Seeker friends were offline and the few that remained could not be reached using the Message skill. Although she felt an overwhelming sense that something was not right, she had no idea of what may have happened since the Seekers only communicated through ingame chat. It was when she found the human guild members and all of the custom NPCs that Kirishima had created were missing from the guild headquarters that she realized the connection between all the strange things that had been happening. It was only a matter of time until the Seekers of Fate had grown powerful enough to attract the attention of the heteromorphic-hunting guild that Kirishima had been trying to protect her friends from.
Kirishima's worst fears were confirmed with her own eyes when she rushed to the guild base of the Seekers - all of the guild's base defenses and guardian NPCs were destroyed. Upon arriving at the scene, Kirishima witnessed the human players and her army of custom NPCs pursue the last of the remaining Seekers through the guild base's halls like hunted animals. As players belonging to guilds had their respawn points set to their guild base, Kirishima immediately understood why most of the Seekers had gone offline from the game - trapped in an endless cycle of being killed, respawning within the guild base, and being killed again, they had lost most of the levels and equipment that they had worked so hard to obtain over time. In a moment of uncontrollable anger at witnessing such a disgusting display of injustice, Kirishima used her ability to summon her guild's NPC administration console from her role as the guild's NPC creator, and in seconds deleted all of her creations which she had spent several months of time and effort making. Without the NPC army supporting the human hunters, they were left weakened and vulnerable. In the ensuing chaos and confusion at the sudden disappearance of their NPC army, Kirishima expended her character's entire MP pool on her most powerful spells within seconds to wipe out the remaining weakened hunters.
Kirishima's betrayal of the human-based PvP guild was immediately noticed after the remaining hunters had been killed by her volley of spells, and she was instantly removed from the guild by its leader. However, she had been to late in arriving to help the Seekers, and the last remaining member had already disappeared from the game before the last human hunter fell. Beceause each of her NPC creations were obviously designed by her hand, as most of the NPCs were references to various experiences the Seekers shared together across each DMMO-RPG they played, the last thoughts running through the minds of the Seekers was that one of their own had betrayed them. Since YGGDRASIL was supposed to be the final online game that the Seekers were to play together before they went on with their seperate lives in the real world, Kirishima knew that she was now alone, seperated from the small group of friends that she had known for several years. Being a dedicated role-playing guild, the Seekers had no contact with each other outside of the games they played.
As the last surviving member of the Seekers of Fate in YGGDRASIL, Kirishima could only hope to meet her friends again if she was to remain within the game, hoping for one of them to try logging back into the game. With the Seeker's guild base abandoned, Kirishima established herself as the new guild leader of the Seekers of Fate, maintaining the guild base in hopes that she would meet her friends again one day. For the several months that followed, Kirishima slowly rebuilt the guild by recruiting various heteromorphic players she found being hunted by other human players, in hopes that by re-establishing the Seekers of Fate as a strong guild of heteromorphic players that could defend itself against any enemy, she could convince the rest of the original Seekers to remain if they happened to return to YGGDRASIL one day. Over time, the new band of Seekers grew significantly in numbers and power, eventually surpassing the strength of the original guild. Before long, the Seekers of Fate became known as a powerful guild that was both respected and feared by other guilds, even attracting many human and demihuman players into their numbers.
Trivia:
In real-life, Kirishima is a fan of science-fiction, and many of her NPC and item designs reflect upon her interests.

Race: Metal Slime - A class of predatory slime that resembles pools of silvery liquid metal in their natural state. As with all slime classes, their bodies are extremely flexible and capable of taking on various shapes and forms as well as allowing them to sustain any kind of physical attack without permanent damage. Unlike most Slimes, Metal Slimes do not use acid to weaken or kill their prey, instead they prefer to form blades from their bodies to slice their prey, or to take on snake-like forms to constrict and crush their prey to death. Metal Slimes are able to take on various forms of various sizes depending on the amount of mass they have accumulated within their bodies. Metal Slimes that have accumulated vast amounts of mass may choose to assume a smaller humanoid form by greatly increasing their physical density, or divide their accumulated physical mass to form separate entities which may be reabsorbed at any time.

Mercuria was designed by Kirishima as an assassin specializing in killing magic casters using offensive and defensive magic to neutralize casters and their magic. Due to her Metal Slime racial class, she is also a very effective tank against non-casters, as her body cannot be permanently damaged by physical attacks. Mercuria is essentially a living, walking weapon, capable of forming blades using her body to kill her targets at a moment's notice as well as shapeshifting to disguise her physical form.
Main Equipment:
Dark Grasp (Divine-Class): A dark, sinister-looking armored gauntlet. Other than possessing a high armor value, the gauntlet has a magical effect when worn that allows the user to strangle a target at a distance using a gripping gesture.
Phantom Blade (Divine-Class): A Divine-Class Weapon with a special ability that allows its blade to pass through protection magic of 7th-Tier or below.
Background:
Mercuria was originally designed by Kirishima as the Seekers' last line of defense, although she was later re-assigned the task of acting as the Overseer of the guild's NPC forces. She was the first creation of Kirishima after her recreation of the Seekers of Fate. Her personality is based upon Kirishima's imagining of the perfect assassin: cold, calculating, and deadly efficient. Mercuria is extremely loyal to her creator and the other Supreme Ones and considers herself an instrument of their will. Despite her outwardly emotionless appearance, Mercuria is an excellent actor, capable of instantly shifting her personality and appearance to fit any given situation. Although she was designed to be a merciless killer who holds no value to life, human or otherwise, Mercuria dislikes wanton, unnecessary violence, preferring efficiency and effectiveness above all else.
Other:
As a Slime, Mercuria can sense the environment through any surface of her body or created clothing/armor.
Mercuria's Dark Grasp and Phantom Blade can be seen in her character image at the top of this sheet.

Special Ability: 100
Total: 690
Abilities and Powers:
Gwydion is considered the strongest NPC in terms of ability to manipulate battlefield conditions to create an impenetrable defense through powerful illusion-based magic. Gwydion's class build allows him to use powerful spells capable of warping the fabric of reality within a localized area to create tangible illusions capable of killing. The major drawback of his powerful abilities is that his lethal illusions can only be manifested within a defined area around himself, making him ill-suited for long-distance engagements but making him an especially competent base defender.
Active and Passive Abilities:
Illusory Sphere: An extremely powerful top-tier Illusion-type spell that transforms a large area around the caster. Within this area, all Illusion-type spells cast by the user become tangible and potentially lethal against targets. Besides a time-based limit restricting the area's existence, the Illusory Sphere can also be dispelled by dealing a large amount of damage to the illusory terrain.
Summon Greater Legion of Shadow: Summons a massive army of ebony-armored warriors armed with an array of melee weaponry. Using her Analyze Target racial skill, Kirishima determined the exact number of warriors summoned by this spell is 7500 units.
Personality:
Gwydion is a calm and collected individual who operates completely on the basis of logic. He has great interest in magic, particularly the illusory arts, despite having already possessing great mastery over it. Although he possesses great patience and is normally slow to anger, he is steadfastly loyal to the Supreme Ones and would not hesitate to openly denounce any actions he considers to be offensive towards them. Due to his high Karma and his role as the leader of the Palace of Whispers' defenses, Gwydion often encounters conflicts with Erzsebet, who possesses extremely negative Karma and considers herself the supreme mistress of the Palace of Whispers.
Background:
Gwydion serves as the Commander of Defence for the Palace of Whispers, and coordinates defensive actions of the guardian NPCs in situations where the Palace is under threat of attack. He also serves as the Area Guardian for the Throne Room and tactical advisor for the Supreme Ones should they seek out his wisdom in times of need. Gwydion is also one of the few human NPCs of the Palace of Whispers and was created shortly after the Seekers of Fate opened their membership to the human and demihuman races as a symbolic act to commemorate the Seekers' unification of the three major races.

Abilities and Powers:
Erzsebet is considered to be the strongest NPC in terms of offensive power and the most capable in battle against enemies of superior numbers and strength. As the "nuclear option NPC" of the Seekers, Erzebet's entire class build is designed around classes specializing in instant death magic capable of ending battles before they even begin. Her offensive strength against living foes is nearly absolute due to her specialization into Blood Magic. Even undead enemies must consider Erzsebet as a significant threat as her Necromancer specialization allows her to easily manipulate undead and raise numerous unending hordes of undead warriors.
Active and Passive Abilities:
Virulent Blood Plague:
Blood Drain:
Blood Seal:
Rebirth:
Sanguine Storm:

Ashes to Ashes:
Invisibility
Personality:
Erzsébet's personality is modeled after a fictional imagining of Elizabeth Báthory, a 15th century countess and serial killer from the Báthory family of nobility in the Kingdom of Hungary. Erzsébet can be aptly described as a prideful narcissist who "just wants to watch the world burn". Although she is easily one of the most unstable and dangerous NPC within the Palace of Whispers, Erzsébet is still fiercely loyal to the Supreme Ones and is at times willing, with great difficulty, to put aside her own admiration for chaos in order to carry out their orders. Her personality settings were set to have her consider herself to be the true mistress of the Palace of Whispers and its NPC inhabitants as her loyal thralls, although her loyalty to the Supreme Ones will allow her to temporarily break character to follow their will. Erzsebet is constantly at odds with Gwydion, who she views as a major threat to her authority due to the similarity in their roles in the Palace of Whispers. With her mastery over the blood arts and necromancy, Erzsebet sees herself as superior over the living and undead alike, and absolutely cannot view humans as being on an level equal to herself.
Background:
Erzsebet is the second of Kirishima's creations after Mercuria, and was designed to be the "final boss" of the Palace of Whispers to be encountered by any YGGDRASIL players that managed to invade its halls. As such, her overall stats easily overwhelm the stats of any other NPC within the Palace of Whispers. Due to her extremely high stats, Erzsebet also has the highest revive cost of all the NPCs and therefore was designed to only reveal herself to engage players once they had managed to enter the Throne Room of the Palace of Whispers after they had broken through all other the NPC defenses.

The Palace of Whispers is the guild headquarters of the Seekers of Fate. Almost none know of its location or even its existence in YGGDRASIL, adding onto the elusive and mysterious nature of the Seekers. In YGGDRASIL, the Palace of Whispers is located within the peaks of one of the most mountainous regions and is guarded by powerful elemental dragons that have made themselves lairs nearby within the mountains. The Palace of Whispers is an impressive sight to behold from the outside, however, the true vastness of its interior remains hidden. Through ingenious use of enchantments and other magic, the physical layout of the interior remains fluid, capable of being changed at will by its guild leader as well as other Seekers granted authority to do so. Through their authority of the world inside the Palace of Whispers, these Seekers have have created entire map areas that far exceed the physical dimensions of the fortress's walls. Each of these map areas reflect some unique aspect of the Seeker responsible for creating them.
The Guild Halls
The halls inside the Palace of Whispers easily tower far above the heads of all that pass through its threshold. True to its name, quiet whispers echo throughout the halls, letting all those who dare to venture inside uninvited that they are not alone, and they are being watched, closely. These quiet whispers are no illusion, as they are the whispers of the various automatically-generated NPCs that tend to the Palace's upkeep and general maintenance, as well as act as its first line of defense against invaders. These NPCs are dressed in long, flowing robes of various dull colors with long hoods that hide their facial features, making each one distinguishable from the next. They generally keep to themselves as they work tirelessly, stopping to lower their head in respect towards any Seekers that happen to pass by. Against foreign invaders, these cloaked NPCs remain peaceful and nonviolent while other NPCs are quietly summoned to the area. After the nearby NPCs are gathered, they will suddenly turn upon the invaders in a surprise attack as a coordinated group.
The Throne Room
At the center of Palace of Whispers lies its heart, the Throne Room - a vast, decorated area that serves as the Seekers' meeting hall. The physical layout of this area is the most restricted of all areas within the Palace, but all Seekers have the authority to use basic spoken commands to invoke simple changes, such as summoning a round table large enough to hold a guild meeting as well as seats for each member present. A raised platform stands towering before all those who enter the Throne Room. In YGGDRASIL, this platform was only used when the guild leader or any other member had to address the entire guild about important matters. If one stands upon the platform, a change in the behavior of all nearby automatically-generated NPCs is triggered, where they will slowly and gradually gather around as if to listen closely.
The Abandoned Halls
Not all of the Palace of Whispers' halls were created equally. Some of its halls were designed with an abandoned, run-down appearance so as to give a sense of foreboding and uneasiness. These halls lead to various twists and turns, making them very easy to get lost within for any unwanted invaders who managed to find and enter the Seeker's stronghold. Various automatically-generated NPCs of up to level 30 stand guard within these halls, some disguised as aged sculptures and statues. Some of these halls lead to dead ends where more powerful NPCs of up to level 60 lie in wait, acting as the area's mini-boss.
The Secret Treasury
All of the wealth and riches amassed by the Seekers is stored within the Secret Treasury, containing a vast amount of gold, powerful weapons and other valuable items. The Secret Treasury is physically separated from the rest of the Palace of Whispers and is protected against the use of transportation magic and items to enter or exit the area. The first layer of the Secret Treasury, which houses the vast majority of the stored items, can only be accessed by passing through one of the archways located within the guild halls, while wearing the guild ring given to only the most trusted of the Seekers. The second layer of the Treasury stores the Seekers of Fate's most powerful weapons - three World Items of unrivaled power that only a few Seekers are aware of. Three Seekers, each possessing a ring of the guild, are required to access the second layer of the Secret Treasury. A single NPC guards the entrance of the treasury's second layer, and once three Seekers each surrender their guild ring, will the NPC open the entrance to the second layer.
Domains of the Seekers
The fluid design of the Palace of Whispers' interior allows certain Seekers with the authority to shape certain areas to their own wishes. In YGGDRASIL, these areas were considered entirely separate map areas that could be larger than the interior of the Palace of Whispers itself. Each of these pockets of reality are only accessible to the Seeker responsible for creating it. If the domain creator activates their Guild Ring, they may choose to teleport either themselves or themselves with other nearby players within the Palace of Whispers into their domain. Other Seekers with guild rings cannot be forcibly teleported by a domain creator and would have an option to reject the invitation, but those without the rings, typically - invaders, can be teleported by force. Therefore, some domain creators of the Seekers used their domains as a sort of personalized battleground against players invading the Palace of Whispers. However, if the domain creator is defeated within their domain, all others remaining within the area are returned to the Palace of Whispers. Strangely, in the New World, this violation of reality continues, allowing these special domains to continue to exist.
Kirishima's Domain: The Avalon Facility
The futuristic-styled Avalon Facility is one of the most lore-contradicting domains within the Palace of Whispers. The Avalon Facility is the personal domain of Kirishima, and serves primarily as her own personal quarters and laboratory to design and produce her various inventions. One of the most notable features inside the Facility is a magical summoning circle made to appear as a teleportation pad. The teleportation device is capable of dematerializing any objects placed on the platform for storage as well as rematerializing them on demand. The Avalon Facility currently contains some of the Seekers' most powerful NPCs. Shortly before the downfall of YGGDRASIL, Kirishima stored a large number of the guild's most powerful NPCs within the Avalon Facility's storage area as a form of farewell to her creations.
“It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
In the virtual reality world of YGGDRASIL, more than 700 playable races exist with more than 2000 job classes available to choose from. With so many choices and paths for the choosing, no two player characters in this world can ever exactly alike. However, there is one singular quality shared amongst every player regardless of the choices they've made: you are alone.
Having not even taken your very first step into this strange new world, your possibilities remain endless. There are none that know of your name in this world - it is up to you to make a name for yourself. Will you wander aimlessly in this strange new world, or will you take the first steps to seek out your fate?
In the months that follow, you slowly but surely establish a presence for yourself within this strange new world. You no longer resemble the lowly peasant-like nameless nobody you once were, in both appearance and experience. If you entered into this world as one of the heteromorphic races, you suffered, endured and persevered through the trials and difficulties of being hunted down like a wild animal by other races. You are now your own self-made person, having built yourself up to where you now stand through your hard work, dedication, and the many choices you have made through your long journey.
Despite the many achievements you have accomplished to your name within this world, despite the hardships and difficulties you have conquered, through fate or circumstance, you are now alone once again. Those who once stood by your side now have turned their backs against you. You are alone once again, just as you were when you entered this world.
What will become of you? Those who stand alone in this world will surely perish and fade into obscurity, as many have done so before you. But you refuse to accept this fate. You are no lost wanderer. You are a seeker.
You are no longer alone in this world, having found companionship, and even perhaps friendship, amongst a group calling themselves the Seekers of Fate. Each one of the Seekers have had fate turn against them at some point in their past, but like yourself, each refused to accept the fate that was handed down to them. The Seekers of Fate began as a small group of heteromorphic players who banded together to defend themselves against the human-race players who hunted them down mercilessly each day. While many would have simply given up and found a new world to spend their time within, these Seekers chose to persevere and stand strong against those who saw them as nothing more than monsters.
Over time, this little band of misfits grew slowly in numbers as they encountered other fellow heteromorphics in need of protection against the hunters. And so with time, the Seekers of Fate grew in both numbers and strength, becoming a strong enough force to stand against other guilds who hunted down heteromorphics. Having become a strong and established guild, the Seekers of Fate grew beyond a simple group of companions and expanded their operations to become a mercenary guild, powerful and influential enough to guide the fate of rising powers in YGGDRASIL. With the Seekers' rising power and influence, even a large number of human and demihumans became drawn towards the guild, willing to overcome any previous prejudices they had against the heteromorphics.
At the height of its power and influence, it was rumored amongst the players of YGGDRASIL that the Seekers of Fate played some part in the rise and fall of every powerful guild that rose from insignificance or fell into obscurity. These whispers have always remained unproven rumors, but even the most powerful guilds of YGGDRASIL came to regard the Seekers of Fate as a force that could not be safely ignored. Those that didn't however, tended to fade away for reasons unexplained.
In 2138, the company that operated the virtual world of YGGDRASIL announced the game was to be permanently shut down. Despite everything the Seekers of Fate achieved together during their rise to power in YGGDRASIL and despite achieving the impossible by unifying players of all races under one banner, this story too was fated have its end.
"From nothing each of us were created, to nothing each of us will become."
This thought had surely echoed through the thoughts of each and every Seeker gathered within the grand hall of their guild base. Everything they had achieved together, everything they had worked so hard to become together, was to become nothing. No amount of hard work or dedication could possibly defy fate this time. This time, fate was already decided and written in stone by forces far beyond their control. This world, and everything within it, was to end.
Welcome to the reboot of the Overlord RP originally started by Turboshitter. As everyone in this RP is here by invitation, you should all know the basics of what's going on, so there won't be much to talk about in this section.
This RP will begin at a point earlier than the original RP, back to the point where we are YGGDRASIL players for the final few minutes before the final shutdown. Within your first in-character actions, your character will experience the same wild confusion that ran through Momonga/Ainz Ooal Gown's mind in the beginning of the Overlord series.
With your character having been placed in the same situation as Ainz in the Overlord series, what choices will you make differently? What choices will you follow?
A whole new world awaits you. Will you become a part of it, or take it for yourself as its Overlord?
Character Sheet Template
Raw format follows further below. Approved character sheets are to be posted in the Characters tab. If you already have a CS created in Titanpad and would prefer to link it instead, please include your character's picture with the link to the Titanpad containing your character info.
[Character image goes here]
Name(s):
Your character's YGGDRASIL name, followed by informal nicknames if any
Gender:
If applicable for your race.
Epithet:
A title usually signifying your race, job class, and achievements
Examples from the series:
Ainz Ooal Gown: Supreme One
Shalltear Bloodfallen: The Bloody Valkyrie
Albedo: Merciful, Pure-White Devil
Race:
Name of your character's race. If using a non-canon race (feel free to create your own within reason - there are numerous races in YGGDRASIL), include a brief summary of their racial characteristics.
Blue text if human, yellow for demihuman, red if heteromorphic.
Keep in mind that heteromorphic-race character with inhuman appearances often faced discrimination by other players.
Total Level:
The sum of Racial and Job levels. In YGGDRASIL, the maximum level (100) was not considered difficult to achieve, so many established players can be expected to be at maximum level.
NPC character levels may vary between 1-100, depending on the amount of resources their creator used to create them. Higher level NPCs are more expensive to create and the gold costs to revive higher level NPCs are greater, and a combined NPC level limit exists for each guild, which could be further extended with cash items.
Racial Level:
The degree of a character's specialization into their race's innate abilities, as opposed to learned abilities, which would fall under Job Levels.
Applies only to demihuman and heteromorphic characters. Human races, including Elves and Dwarves have a fixed Racial Level of 0 (zero).
Example: Narberal Gamma is an NPC with a very low degree of specialization into her racial level (Doppelgänger level 1) and is only able to take on one human appearance. In comparison Pandora's Actor is an NPC with a much higher degree of specialization (Doppelgänger level 15, Greater Doppelgänger level 10) and has the ability to take on other people's forms and use any of their abilities at 80% power output.
A number between -500 and +500 describing your character's good or evil nature
Examples from the series:
Ainz Ooal Gown: -500 (Extremely Evil)
Mare Bello Fiore: -100 (Neutral Evil)
Pandora's Actor: -50 (Neutral)
Victim: +1 (Neutral)
Sebas Tian: +300 (Extremely Good)
Stats:
Values from 0 to 100 describing your character's combat abilities. Stats greater than 100 should be listed as simply "Limit exceeded" (See "Approximate Status" section for Ainz Ooal Gown: overlordmaruyama.wikia.com/wiki/Ainz_O..)
Stat values are intended as a way to describe your character's unique specializations and won't be used in calculations during the RP - this is a story-based and not a numbers-based RP :3.
Stat totals may range anywhere between 500-750 for level 100 characters. Characters with low stat totals are not necessarily "weak" - they may have powerful abilities or talents that make them just as capable with another character with high stats. Example: The master beast tamer Aura is an NPC with a stat total of 570 but still comparable to the other NPCs due to the number of powerful pets she has at her command.
HP: Influences the amount of damage your character can sustain MP: Amount of mana available to cast spells and use abilities Phy. Atk: Affects how much damage your character's physical attacks do Phy. Def: Affects amount of damage taken from physical attacks Agility: Ability to evade melee and ranged attacks Mag. Atk: How much damage your character's magic attacks do Mag. Def: Affects amount of damage taken from magic attacks Resistance: Ability to evade or resist effects of magic spells and abilities Special Ability: Effectiveness and potency of spells and abilities Total: Sum of stat points
Abilities and Powers:
A general description of your character's combat style, spells, skills and other specializations. Are they a melee warrior class or a spellcaster type character? Are they more suited to an offensive or defensive role, or are they a Jack of all Trades type?
Active and Passive Abilities (Optional):
If your character has any spells and abilities with somewhat complicated mechanics, list them in this section along with a brief description of their effects. Elaborate spells can be fun to think about, but make sure you can roleplay with them!
Normal level 100 players can learn up to 300 different spells (and over 6000 possible spells exist), so there is no need to try listing all your spells, though feel free to list some if you want.
Spells of 1st Tier to 10th Tier would fall under this section. Keep in mind that for level 100 players, 8th Tier spells were commonly used for PvP, while lower-tier spells are often considered too weak to be used against players of similar strength.
Over Rank Magics (Optional):
A powerful type of magic that exceeds the power of 10th Tier spells, but does not consume any MP. However, Over Rank magics can only be used a limited number of times per day - about 4 times a day for level 100 players. Over Rank magic also cannot be used consectively due to a global cooldown effect.
In the light novels, Ainz's "Fallen Down" Over Rank spell was described as being so intensely powerful that it was able to kill even the air surrounding the battlefield: "The world died. It was not a figure of speech. Everything had died. In front of his eyes, the Einherjar turned into a white mist and began to crumble. Even the lifeless construct had died instantly. Likewise, Shalltear’s kin, succumbing to a power that they could not resist, began to die out. But it did not end there. Even the air that was devoid of life died and turned the 200 meter diameter into a space where breathing was impossible. If there had been a being here who needed to breathe in order to live, the dead air would have contaminated the lungs and ended its life."
Special abilities gained through specialization of your character's Racial class.
Example: Ainz's "High Tier Physical Invalidation III" granted through his Overlord racial class, which nullifies all low level attacks below level 60.
Special Skills (Optional):
Special abilities gained through specialization of your character's Job class.
Example: Ainz's "The Goal of All Life is Death" granted through his Eclipse job class, which allows instant death magic to bypass all types of resistance at the cost of delaying the spell effect by 12 seconds.
Main Equipment:
List all your worn and equipped items along with their class (Relic, Legendary, Divine etc.). For simplicity's sake, this includes weapons. Feel free to be creative! Remember, not much has been established in canon.
Equipment bonus effects in YGGDRASIL are based on utility (ie: enhanced defense, bypassing defenses, granting bonus speed, etc) and not numerical stat bonuses.
Your character can be assumed to have accumulated a vast number of potions, magic scrolls, cash items, and other miscellaneous items in their inventory that they've long lost track of, so inventory items should not be listed. After all, your character probably considers most of them worthless.
A brief description of your character's personality, and how their personality may have changed after arriving in the New World. Are they cold and calculating, free and friendly, or loyal and trustworthy? If you prefer, you can reveal your character's personality through their actions during the RP or hint at it using the Background section instead.
Background:
What was your character’s story before coming to the New World? What are they like as a person?
Trivia:
Little miscellaneous details that make your character special and unique.

Besides material-based valuables, the Secret Treasury also contains the Seekers' most powerful NPCs, stored in immaterial form to be retrieved when required. Before the downfall of YGGDRASIL, most of the guild's most powerful NPCs were stored within the Secret Treasury as a ceremonial form of burial.
Your story, so far...
You are no longer alone in this world, having found companionship, and even perhaps friendship, amongst a group calling themselves the Seekers of Fate. Each one of the Seekers have had fate turn against them at some point in their past, but like yourself, each refused to accept the fate that was handed down to them. These whispers have always remained unproven rumors, but even the most powerful guilds of YGGDRASIL came to regard the Seekers of Fate as a force that could not be safely ignored. Those that didn't however, tended to fade away for reasons unexplained.
Every story has its end...
The Fall of YGGDRASIL
In 2138, the company that operated the virtual world of YGGDRASIL announced the game was to be permanently shut down. Despite everything the Seekers of Fate achieved together during their rise to power in YGGDRASIL and despite achieving the impossible by unifying players of all races under one banner, this story too was fated have its end.

...Or was it?
However, some stories live on...
