''Maybe, I can check up on the training base if you're okay with it?''Kieren thoughts were suddenly interrupted. She looked up smiling apologetically for not paying attention to Ashlinn when she initially approached her. She nodded in approval seeing as no one in the medic tent was in dyer need.
"I don't see any problem with that, It's been a pretty quiet morning." She looked over to Nathan who sat idly in the corner, He looked bored
"If you'd like you can venture around the grounds as well, I think I-" She was suddenly interrupted by her sister storming into the tent. She felt Felix jump off her shoulders to greet her sister happily, placing his paws up on her shins and mewing affectionately
"Cal, I-". The smile from the sight of her sister faded into a concerning frown. She knew exactly what her sister was so urgent about, she had noticed the clouds the day before, only this morning they seemed to be moving closer to base camp.
"How many days do we have left?" she started to feel anxious but kept a calm face.
Calliope idly stroked the tops of Felix's heads and answered Kieren, sarcasm dripping from her tongue.
"If I factor in the wind speed, tidal strength, and the phase of the moon I'd say-seriously, Kieren? You know it's not enough time regardless of my tracking." She sighed deeply, realizing the mixture of her fear and anger were misdirected.
Kieren eyed her sister carefully, she knew Calliope was only just as scared as she was and that her sarcasm was used in a line of defense. Her sister was a show off until it came to weakness, she had a way to hide her insecurities and Kieren admired that about her. Serious situations such as these were not what Calliope preferred to deal with.
Calliope took Kieren's wrist in her hand and stroked the golden bangle resting around it.
"I need to check the fields for any stragglers; inform them of tonight's Circle. Kieren... don't raise alarm just yet." She glanced over her shoulder at Nathan and Ashlinn and forced a plastic smile. Lowering her voice she added,
"I'm too tired to deal with wipe spread panic at the moment." She leaned back, winked with her familiar mischievous grin, and turned abruptly to start her patrol.
Before her sister vanished, Kieren pulled her in by her shoulders for a forced hug.
" Listen, I know you're my tough badass sister, but everyone has their limits. Don't worry too much about it, we have a great team of Mercenaries and Harbingers" She pulled away to look at her gleaming amber eyes, and flashed her a smile,
"And an outstanding Harbinger leader I might add...Search the fields and take a rest, okay?" She finally let go of her shoulders, she had every confidence that they could handle this next wave of Cimmerians. However, there was always a small amount of fear of what damage they may cause. She didn't let her mind dwell on it, she felt Felix return to her shoulders his heads resting peacefully against her neck. After her sister left the tent Kieren turned back to Ashlinn,
"Why don't I join you, I could use the fresh air"
