It seemed that her words had led her into some kind of challenge for the throne. "Such a typical response from you Lord Grey..." she started as Dolton spoke up and practically called her insignificant. His words stung, a lot, but she had to set him straight. "Lord Grey is not making a grab for power. In the absence of Emporer MaxedUltra we as greater beings have a duty to maintain the unity and strength of the empire. It was not my intention to propose a challenge but to state the facts. If one of us cannot or will not take the throne the other must, lest the empire crumble. If anything I would propose that Lord Grey take me as his wife and empress so that we may create a royal line an.... The gravity of her last sentence settled in and she looked back to Lord Grey "a-and produce an heir to carry on the legacy of the empire... Yup, she said that. She seriously just proposed marriage on the spot.

It wasn't as if the thought had never occurred to her and well he practically was the last man on the planet or at least the last one from earth. It was a sound suggestion though right? Assuming that they live here now and there weren't going to be any new players logging in to take their place the empire needed a royal lineage to secure it's power. Yeah that's why she suggested it.

At this point Nanami had trailed off and spaced out for a few seconds before realizing all eyes were still on her. "Well then, Lord Grey, will you... make me your empress?" It wasn't that bad a deal right? I mean she was fit and her avatar, looking mostly like her was a rather beautiful sight in her opinion. She cared for the empire as much as he did she thought so he wouldnt risk dissention from her, she would never betray her children, thats what the were to her anyway. Judging from their reactions and judgments from Dolton she probably wouldn't have been accepted by herself. Besides all that it was for the good of the empire so she had to do everything in her power. She stared at Grey intensely awaiting an answer.

After so many years, the day had finally come. She had lived her life here, fighting, laughing, crying. Others came and went but through it all she remained. It was fitting that in the end the Order threw a gala. She did her best to laugh and smile, pretending to enjoy herself and reminisce with the others. In truth her heart was breaking. Sure it was just a game to most people but to her this was her only life. She dreaded the thought of being stuck in that prison again, losing everything she had built and fought to preserve.

The party was dying down as the hour grew near. She quietly slipped away from the hall and used teleportation magic to find one of the highest points in Arce Bellum. On top of one of the tallest towers she could see the town below and the surrounding area. A perfect place to be alone... and to cry. She couldn't help herself. As she sat there thinking of all the wonderful things she'd have to leave behind the tears just came. No one would see her so it was fine. It was almost time, each tick of the clock seemed to last for an eternity. She gazed upon her empire for the last time, the salt of her tears.... wait what?

She was still in YGGDRASIL yet, she could taste her tears. She tried to access the menu but it wasn't there. She tried to think, what could be happening? Is she dreaming? No, she could never taste things in her dreams. It was strange, she could feel her body, the soft texture of her robes, she could smell the air, feel the breeze on her face. It was as if she was absolutely living in this world at this moment. Maybe, it could be real? A voice called from below, unfamiliar "M'Lady I've found you at last!" It was a female sentry, she looked like she had probably been running around for a while. "M'Lady, everyone has been summoned to the great hall please make your way there with haste." Nanami jumped down to the ramparts where the sentry stood. " I'll make my way there now, please return to your duties for now." She smiled softly at the sentry. I don't know what's going on but talking NPCs are amazing! The sentry saluted and went on her way. A thought occurred to her that everyone but Greyedout had logged out before the scheduled shut down so did that mean that she and him were the only ones left in the Empire? Maybe, and if all the NPCs were like the sentry then they'll probably be confused about what's going on as well. She'd have to head to the great hall to find out more.

"Greater Teleportation!"

In an instant she was in the great hall. She arrived just in time to hear Lord Grey more or less proclaiming himself the new emperor. "Forgive my late arrival Lord Grey, I was um... preoccupied." It occurred to her that she most definitely looked like she had been crying, she hoped no one would notice. She surveyed the room. Did this mean they were the only players left? "As you can see you're not the only uh... Greater One in the empire so if you truly don't wish to take the throne then I could possibly bear the mantle. Regardless of whom the successor may be I will endeavor towards the prosperity of this empire as I always have."

Being a monk class, she has a lot of self buffs that increase her offensive stats and mobility. She prefers to be right in the thick of fighting and, although she is tough enough to handle a fair amount of punishment, relies mostly on her speed to dodge and counter enemy attacks. Her Miko class gives her a small number of heals and buffs in addition to a handful of ranged attacks that round out her style.

Strengths:
High speed and good strength make her a quick and mobile damage dealer. Heals are mostly area of effect type and good for minor party healing. Ranged offensive magic has bonuses against undead and demonic class creatures.

Weaknesses:
Ranged offensive magic is limited to 5th tier and does little damage compared to other magic user classes. Heals have long cooldowns and large mana consumption. Average resistance to physical attacks and below average resistance to all magic types.

the original caster or (in the case of higher tier magic) swirls the effect around the player halving

Nana can be impulsive and is ruled largely by her emotions but will always put the good of others before herself. She holds true to her honour and always keeps her word. She holds others to their word as well and can be persistent to the point of prosecution when others fail to keep their promises. Overall she is compassionate and understanding with those who don't adhere to her own code of honour and sees those who are untrustworthy as undesirable.

She takes her role in the guild seriously and honestly feels responsible for the welfare of the empire. She has come to think of the guild as her family and the NPCs are akin to her children. She is, for all intents and purposes, a noble lady of the empire and wishes only for it's prosperity.

Now that the game is ending she can't help but feel like the world around her is dying.

Bio/Lore:
Nana was born in a working class family. Her mother was a cashier at a convenience store and her father was a low level office worker. Being their only child, she was their pride and joy, and they worked tirelessly to provide for her wants and needs. As a young girl she joined the Gymnastics club at her school. She was always active and athletic but found that she had a particular talent for Gymnastics and decided to pursue it in earnest. Seeing the conviction in their daughter's eyes, her parents sought out the best teachers despite their modest income and happily took on extra work to support her dreams.

For the first few years the only time she ever saw her parents was at Gymnastic exhibitions. Eventually her father worked his way up the company and her parents were able to start working less. In her senior year she earned an athletic scholarship to a private university, she and her parents were beyond thrilled. Soon Gymnastics became the only topic of discussion in her household. Her parents would praise her constantly and remark at how proud they were. All of her father's coworkers knew about her accomplishments as he excitedly displayed every single achievement she had ever won in his office.

Her Gymnastic career was steadily rising and her coach proposed that she try out for the Olympic team. She couldn't imagine a more wonderful idea. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. On the way to the try outs there was a car accident. She awoke in a hospital looking up at her parents, faces red and puffy from hours of crying. Her coach sat silent in the corner, grim faced and stony. In a blink she had lost everything.

Over the next few weeks doctors streamed in and out of her room checking her vital signs, her IV, her catheter bag. She was eventually taken off breathing machines but it was clear that she would never move again. At first her parents visited every day; they would tell her stories and gossip about coworkers to try and keep her involved in the world outside of the hospital bed. Over time it became clear that she was too withdrawn and depressed to make a difference. Their visitations became more strained and less frequent until eventually they stopped altogether. With nothing to do and no one to interact with the doctors became concerned about her mental health and suggested a Full Dive device.

A Full Dive device would allow her to explore new places and meet new people. She was instantly hooked. Being able to walk, run, jump...all the things she'd thought were lost to her, plus more! It was more than she could have ever hoped for. At first the doctors tried to limit her time in virtual space, but it was clear there was nothing for her in the "real" world anymore. She only logged off to sleep. She made real friends, something she'd never truly experienced before given her singular pursuit of Gymnastics. She quickly blasted through game after game until discovering YGGDRASIL, with its vast open world, fluid class system, and character created NPC feature, she found herself spending 18 hours a day playing.

After several hundred hours of playing solo Nana wanted more. She had joined parties for raids, crawled many dungeons, and quested for days, but she was still missing a greater sense of community. That's when she found De Ordine Imperii, a young guild at the time. They were strong and friendly to most players. They accepted her right away and she took to them as well. The emphasis on roleplaying as a member of an order was enticing. She could immerse herself in a life and not just a game. When she wasn't participating in guild activities like raids or conquering territory, she was creating NPCs and maintaining the guild's halls.

Nana participated in the conquest of Arce Bellum and took a liking to it. She regularly spent her days in it's grand halls. More than once she was caught having conversations with NPCs about how she wished she could live there full time. With the imminent shutdown of YGGDRASIL's servers she may never again find a place like it... or perhaps.

Also, in regards to what a Miko is; the short answer is that they are Shinto priestesses who (like Jinshu, their male counterparts) maintain shrines, administrate religious ceremonies, and generally are responsible for the pacification of restless spirits.

A Miko is, in modern times, pretty much a part time job you pick up during high school to make some quick cash. You mostly clean shrines and thank people for donations. It's kind of boring (according to my late wife) but is important because the job of a Miko is primarily to pacify restless spirits as opposed to vanquishing evil spirits like a lot of western-inspired games tend to put it.

Throughout history Miko employed archery as a method of self defence and after the introduction of Buddhism and Zen philosophy archery became common practice among Miko as a recreational and meditative activity as well as for defence. Miko were also known for being learned healers and counselors. Basically, most priests and priestesses studied medicine, archery, and oral/written wisdoms in addition to spiritual balance. Shinto Priests/Priestesses were integral parts of their communities and sometimes even took on leadership roles when necessary.

As a job class, I would say that a Miko is a magic user whose greatest strengths are in protection magic and healing magic, and probably subclasses into alchemy and archery.

I would like to note, however, that Nana doesn't have any archery skills and blessed arrow/ blessed arrow barrage are magic skills with similar function to that of a magic missile but take the form of an arrow as a nod to the close relationship between Miko and archery throughout history.
