Playing with some ideas for a character right now!
Hey my butterscotchs!

So this is a shameless reboot (I took the same name from before) of a game I played a while back.

A really easy way to understand the concept of the game is that the title sums it up!

All the players would take turns controlling the direct actions of a single character, as well as shaping the story around them.

We would round-robin our way through the story, with each player having absolute control.... Until they finished their post, and the next person went!

This easily became one of my favorite games ever, and the only reason why it stopped was because of IRL troubles.

One of the cool things about this is that it's total community story telling. We would decide on what the setting would be and who the main character is, and maybe have a loose idea of where we want the plot to go. After that, we just take turns telling the story, seeing where it goes.

It really goes beyond the initial gimmick, and becomes a great way to really emphasize the coolest parts of Rp, which is the collaborative story telling and fun of working with a tight knit group of storytellers.

One of the challenges of getting this type of game set up right is finding the right balance of player size.

If I do end up erring on the side of too small, I only hope the people not let in decide to set their own game up!

I'm probably going to let 5 or 6 people in, with definite willingness to grow larger if there's crazy interest in it. If some people drop away while others start showing interest, we can definitely have switches happen between the active/inactive players.

Players from the old game can join right away, because nepotism is a stinker.

I've just finished reading Paradise Lost, so I'm ready for some unabashed villianhood.
I'm currently torn between posting now to keep the game moving vs. waiting for everyone to get a response before posting.

Sorry for nearly killing this game, that definitely was not a highlight of my rping history. Which is why I'm focused on keeping this moving, and in the best way possible.

Is that a knowing glint in her eyes? Sister's blessings, I think the girl wants to confide with me!

The courtesan gave the girl a small, knowing smile, acknowledging her unspoken offer for a later encounter.

"As you wish, Juniper. It's good to take interest in matters of House."

It figures Fiona had already worked with the Crow, she's as deadly as an adder. I just hope Nalia has enough sense to avoid getting bit. I'm a fine lute player, but I doubt I could serenade the sisters into giving her back.

Amused with his own joke, Pieter widened his smile into a grin, turning to face his Lady with a handsomely cheerful face,

"My Lady, I leave you under the stern eye of the esteemed Miss Juney. Her wisdom is inverse to her weight, and she's very light indeed."

Giving a springily bow to Nalia and Lucien, Pieter doffed an imaginary cap to the brooding Crow. Stepping away, he scanned the table for any food that looked appetizing. Spotting a delectable lemon tart, he plucked it into his hand, smiling.

"I suppose I'll be off to my quarters. I need to continue on my current work, so I'll be up late tonight." He said to nobody in particular.

The artist left the dining hall with it's chandeliers and the plotting that was occurring beneath the burnished gleam of the candles.
Mags:

The voice of the booming giant made Mags nearly drop her dagger in astonishment. Knees buckling briefly, the girl's mind was sent racing, and didn't comprehend the Skayleigh's question. While she had been gazing up at the broad face of the half-Elf, she was caught unawares by yet another booming voice, this one originating lower to the ground, however.

"Oi! What's yer name lass? Be ye fey, or friend?"

I have no idea what he just said.

"Feh, fey? I don't-"

Flanked on both sides by a dwarf and a giant, a very small part of Mag's mind appreciated the strange pattern that was fulfilled when a human who was practically eye level with her stepped forward, smiling and leaning in, saying,

'Greetings and hello, my good lady!' I've never been called 'lady' before.

'My, my, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?' I am?

'If my companions to either side of me are being somewhat needlessly threatening apologise for their behaviour in their stead; we've been travelling for a while, and I think everybody is just a little touchy as a result. Who ARE these people?

'I'm Settionne, a priest of the gods' Oh sweet blessings. Marauders don't travel with priests.

'and might I ask what your name is?'

The few haphazard etiquette lessons Mags had undergone as a girl came back to her mechanically, her mind struggling to catch up.

Taking the pale priests hand, Mags attempted a fumbling curtsy, saying in a small voice,

"A pleasure to meet you, Messir Settione. I'm Mags. Well, Marguerite, but everyone calls me Mags, I guess."

Weakly dropping her hand, Mags blinked, realized that she was still holding her dagger limply at her side, and deliberately slid it into the sheath at her thigh, collecting herself as she did so.

Taking a deep breath in, she continued,

"I'm a.. Discoverer, I guess? I spend most of my time going between the wilderness, finding ruins out here and studying their magic. I've been looking for a dragon, because I've heard it might know something about the lost city I'm looking for. Do you have an idea of where I could find one?"

Pls dont kick me, I'm writing a response now! IRL has been a bit of a jerk, but my head is now officially above water.

Since I'm currently trapped in an airport with nothing but wifi and a laptop for company, I'll get a post up right away.
I got a post up! It's painfully short, but that's because I'm just sorta transitioning Pieter over from one scene to another.

I also updated my skills list- added awareness and craft to my stats. If I'm playing music which stat do I use? Grace to play gracefully or craft to play competently? If I'm composing an impromptu sonnet to seduce the Crow impress someone at a ball, is it grace for delivery, or craft for lyrical competency?

(I also enjoy the fact that Pieter would straight-up get mauled in most fights. I'm trying to experiment with characters that aren't really combat oriented.)

Talos dammit, Lucien was so shit-faced that he would probably pass out before Nalia and the Crow would actually say anything important. Mmmh. And there's no way Pieter could think of a way to be invited along with them. And he really doubted his ability to sneak along with them into the room. Not with the Crow around. He'd snuck past Nalia plenty of times. Heh.

"I mean, your study (hic) of course"

Flinching ever so slightly, Pieter covered it up by dropping into a deep bow. He caught Juniper shifting where she stood. Was she hiding something? And what was that nervous glance at the Crow? That was something that required immediate investigation. Juniper could very easily get in over her head, especially if such a dangerous character such as the Crow had caught her focus.

"Very good. My Lady Delorano, if I make take my leave? I would escort Miss Juniper, I would appreciate her conversation before retiring for the evening."

(Awareness Roll- 12. (I rolled twice because the first time I didn't include the modifiers even though they cancel each other out but I thought it would be better to include them and I succeeded both times so it's fine in the end)
