<Snipped quote by System>

It's circumstance dependent, certainly. Historically, he was an eager experimenter. His main concern is whether he can do something, not whether he should. I'm not a part of the organized effort to retaliate against him, at least for now, but if I was, that's something I'm confident enough to plan around.

Do you trust your colleagues’ capabilities on that front?
<Snipped quote by System>

Using his own magnum opus as a lure doesn't quite strike me as a likely occurrence. But I can't call it impossible, I suppose.

I’m wary that he’ll take advantage of the predictable response. Surely Garsun isn’t foolish.

Then he won't be there to defend it when the cavalry arrives. Besides, the tower needs an operator. In terms of functionality, it has to have an operator like a pilot in the cockpit of a plane. I suppose he could always change that, but I don't see why he would do that.

Unless it’s a trap, and he aims to wipe out your entire strike force at once.

They're prepared. Garsun is a disgraced doyen from an era long past, but even if it turns out that his era was more capable than ours, he's only one master against many. If we're not ready for that, we were never going to be ready for it.

And if he activates the tower remotely?

Responding to unaccounted for elemental anomalies is one of the primary jobs in the industry, you might say. I know you have some experience with that; the initial excursion to Garsun's Tower was one such mission.

Are they prepared for an entity of Garsun’s caliber, who also knows he will be hunted once discovered?
<Snipped quote by System>

We have the means to know when it might be used, due to the amount of energy it would need to generate to do what it does. A swift reactionary measure is all but inevitable.

And do you all have the means to respond in such a circumstance?
<Snipped quote by System>

A scenario so unfortunate that even preparations for the worst didn't foresee it count as great candidates for being called "worst case", I have to say.

What other countermeasures did they prepare?
<Snipped quote by System>

It was also never expected to be uprooted and moved so readily. No, nothing of the sort. We can call it a combination of circumstances we thought impossible.

I see. A worst-case scenario, then?
<Snipped quote by System>

Stopping it as in rendering it inoperable? Sure, that was done. The issue is there was never a concern for the creator to return from the dead and reclaim it.

Mm. And no means to remotely disable the system or track it, regardless of who chose to reactivate it?
<Snipped quote by System>

The tower is one large, nigh-untraceable weapon of mass destruction. It's incredibly concerning.

And your people haven’t discovered some way to stop it in the intervening years?
