Talon once again dashed forward to meet his opponent, but this time he did not intend to have a contest of brute strength. As he approached the knight, he tossed the blade in his right hand up into the air, and used his now free hand to grab the top of that shield and force it down into the ground. This way, if Daniel wanted to maneuver at all with the weapon, he would have to force it through the dirt, an extra effort that was quite possible for someone of his strength, but one that would certainly slow him down. He raised the blade in his left hand in a guarded position to deal with the knight's sword should it fall down on him, but the blade in his tail took another path. His tail whipped back and then curved around Talon's right side and behind the shield, aiming a sideways stab at Daniel's kidney. The shield was made of sturdy stuff, how about that armor? He would have to poke around until he found a gap in it.

Meanwhile, the blade that Talon had tossed in the air made its descent. Unless their positions significantly changed, it would land harmlessly on the ground, right beside the monolith. He also noticed that his opponent had placed something on the giant stone tower behind him, probably one of the explosives he had used before. He would have to keep an eye on that as well.
@TrixyTrix Have fun!

Hell yes. Will there be an obligatory training in the mountains arc as well?

Training in the beach-side mountain hotsprings..... with a waterslide.
Ryuuto Anjou

First impressions were one of the most important things in this world. This was Ryuuto's first year at Akiyama-Kreuz Academy, and he wanted to show his teachers just what they could expect from him: a diligent, hard-working student and a committed receiver. His uniform was immaculate and hung on his body with perfect symmetry. He sat upright and attentive through the entirety of the principal's speech, genuinely listening to everything he had to say, as generic as it was. However, if they were tested on the opening ceremony, just to see who was listening, Ryuuto was certain that he'd score in the top percentile.

When the principal left, there was an awkward pause where students began to get up and shuffle around. Ryuuto was one of the few who remained seated; nobody had dismissed them yet. And, sure enough, a faculty member arrived with further instructions. "Room 4B..." Ryuuto mumbled to himself as he consulted his map before wandering through the halls following the people ahead of him as if the fact that somebody was ahead meant that they knew where they were going. No, he would not be late to his pairing for some ridiculous reason like that. So, with a course plotted, he packed up his papers and fell in with the crowd of students, trying not to get bumped around too much as they shambled towards room 4B.

Keiji Kojuro

Another year, another boring speech. Not that Keiji would have known whether it was boring or not, for he was out cold. During his years at the academy he had mastered a technique of resting his chin in his hand so that it looked like he was thinking while bracing his body with his elbow on the arm of his chair. Similarly, his other arm held an open pamphlet balanced between his fingers to hide his shut eyes. He awoke to the sound of applause and the pamphlet fluttered to the ground as he regained he bearings. It was a shame; he was having such a nice nap. "Hey Momo, I didn't miss anything important, did I?" He asked, only to realize that the seat next to him was empty.

Keiji was used to this kind of thing, but he was pretty surprised that something had caught her interest already. Fortunately, she hadn't gotten far when he spotted those two "antennae" in the crowd, following the first-years down into the basement. Now, in a normal relationship, one would wonder at this point why his receiver was following others to be paired up? Was she unhappy with her tuner? Had she requested a new partner and left him in the dust? Well, this was Momo so it was far more likely that she sensed extra-terrestrial frequencies coming from the basement or something. So, before she could get into trouble without him, Keiji bounded after her among the first years.

Unlike his partner, Keiji was slightly bigger than average for his age, so he stuck out like a sore thumb among the newcomers. Hell, some of the little guys he bumped into -- accidentally of course -- trying to get to Momo were probably intimidated by him. When he finally caught up to her, he tapped her on the shoulder and said, "Did I fall back in time two years while I was asleep? Why are you with the first-years?"
I'll be getting a post up later today.
I don't think it's a matter of trust so much as it is a matter of HOLYSHITWHATISTHATTHING!?!?!?!?
@TrixyTrix Hey, don't let the fact that you're paired up with a guy thwart your romantic pursuits, especially since our characters will be just meeting each other.
@Davlamin I agree with the others. Just saying "can use water magic" is too vague. In terms of raw power, this could mean anything from Squirtle's watergun attack, to literally picking up the ocean and dumping it on somebody. Consider the following: How much water can he manipulate at once? What degree of precision does he have with the water? Can he create water, or must he manipulate existing water? What physical forms does his water magic take? Blobby balls of water? Pressurized beams? Crushing waves? What specific techniques can your character use with this magic. To give you an example of what "specific techniques" look like, here is what my character Shinko can do with fire:

Affinity for Fire - Shinko was born with an abnormally high affinity for fire magic. He is impervious to burns, can withstand extremely high temperatures, and can use his magic to warm his body in cold climates. He has also learned a variety of fire magic techniques:

Fire Plume - A rudimentary elemental attack. Shinko summons a ball of fire the size of a basketball that he can launch at any given target.

Fire Whips - By flicking his tails, Shinko can create thin ribbons of fire which he can either leave connected to the tips of his tails and use as whips (limited to 6 ft) or he can release them and use them as light projectiles. Less powerful than a fire plume, but more precise.

Ember Enhancement - Shinko can use his magic to enhance his physical strikes with fire. The result is a trail of embers behind each strike. Hits deal added fire damage, blocked attacks send a small plume of embers that retains the momentum of the initial strike, and dodged attacks leave a streak of embers about their trajectory.

Cauterize - If severe bleeding becomes a problem, Shinko can press his hand against the wound and, overriding his natural affinity, burn it shut. Naturally, this is extremely painful and causes severe tissue damage in the process, but it can thwart the immediate danger of blood loss.

Afterburner - By flicking all three tails in a sharp downward motion, Shinko can create a blast of fire with enough propulsive force to lift him of the ground. This can be used as a means of enhancing a jump, as a situational attack, or to give him a "double-jump" mid-air.

Form of Flame - Shinko can make his tails burst into flames at will. While in this state, his tails lose all physical substance. Once the flames are extinguished, by Shinko's will or otherwise, his tails return to their original state.

Hellfox Blitz - Shinko can summon a fox made of fire. The firefox moves according to Shinko's will, and has the strength and speed of an average fox. The firefox has physical substance to it, meaning it's claws and fangs can cut as well as burn, but also that it is susceptible to physical attacks. Shinko can summon multiple foxes at once, but the strain on his mind and body for maintaining them increases exponentially beyond the first.
@TrixyTrix Cool. Looks like I've got my partners then.

I'm guessing the first year students will be meeting their partners at the beginning of the RP, but we should work out a bit of history between the older partners.
@Raineh Daze Well, then I guess I'll just have to see what she does. lol.

@TrixyTrix What would you think about pairing Kazuko with Ryuuto? They're both pretty serious people so I can see them looking past each others' negative personalities for the sake of a "professional relationship."
