@Delta44 I'm waiting for @Dynamo Frokane to respond. I'm still here though, don't worry.
Kenshin was glad to see Kaoru's usual cheerful demeanor return as they talked, and was more than happy to help with the dinner. Though, it would feel odd calling something a dinner without rice, but he supposed that couldn't be helped. "Certainly, Miss Kaoru," Kenshin said as they approached the dojo. "Grilled chicken and vegetables sound great. Though, I'm not sure what to tell Yahiko about the rice. If he hears that the Tajima dojo is the reason for it he might start trouble with them... Let's just tell him that I dropped it." He gave Kaoru a pleasant smile and sure enough Yahiko was there waiting for them.

"What took you so long?" The young samurai complained. "I'm starving over here!"

Kenshin just gave a pleasant laugh. "I'm sure you mean 'thank you for picking up groceries so we can eat.' We're going to grill some chicken and vegetables, so we'll be eating soon."

"I just hope you're the one cooking, Kenshin," Yahiko said. "Kaoru always burns the chicken."

Before another fight could break out that would destroy even more of their groceries, Kenshin began preparing the food. He peeled some carrots and put them on the grill along with some leeks and their chicken. He sat with a serene expression as he cooked, as if living out a domestic life was how he meditated. In a way, it was. These simple mundane tasks were a welcome escape from his bloody past. Even with the trouble that popped up from time to time, he felt at peace here, free from the bloodshed and violence of the Revolution. A simple tournament was a far cry from the violence he knew. Sure, tempers would flare and rivalries would brew, but a form of combat with plenty of rules and no killing could not compare to the raw viciousness he knew. However, he wondered if the Tajima dojo wanted to keep it that way...

"Miss Kaoru," Kenshin said quietly as they cooked. "Be careful in the tournament. I have no doubt that you'll do well with your swordsmanship, but I have a feeling you'll need more than that to win. Remember who it is you're up against. I'm sure they don't like being held back by tournament rules. They'll use any way to think of to hurt you. Even though it's just a tournament, you'd best fight as though your life is on the line."
@Narcotic Dollie Weekend resort sounds cool. Maybe the player's casino is opening a new branch and is giving out comps to promote business.

Yutaro tried not to grimace when Jacques mentioned the masquerade ball. Did the man not know what had happened to bring it up so casually? Or was the tragedy already just some afterthought for the people who weren't there, who didn't see what happened. There was only a brief flicker in Yutaro's expression before he rerouted the conversation to more pleasant things. The masquerade had been a good party before the incident, and getting to know the guy behind it was sure to provide some interesting conversation. "An international festival host?" Yutaro said, not revealing any of the uneasiness he had just felt. "I bet you've been to quite a few crazy parties. If you plan on hosting one, let me know..."

Just then, Yutaro looked over at the bunny walking over to take the party meister's order, and then he did a double take when he saw who it was. It was like an apparition had just appeared before him. For all these months he hadn't seen or spoken to her, and now here she was, as seductive and flirtatious as ever, ready to intoxicate the hell out of this unsuspecting client... as well as serve him some drinks. He looked at her beautiful raven hair, her lovely bre..lue eyes, and he was stunned all over again. She honestly looked great, and Yutaro was glad she was back on her feet again. Yutaro returned her smile, as if to say, "well, look who's back in action," and hoped that their shorthand hadn't faded after their time apart. It felt good smiling again. It wasn't a forced smile or cynical grin, but a genuine smile.

"Hopefully you'll keep us company, I plan to lose a lot of money on this table today!"

Yutaro turned his attention back to his customer, and gave him a friendly chuckle. "Oh, don't say that sir. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you hit your lucky streak. I've heard that buying your dealer a drink is good luck." Of course that last sentence was complete bullshit, but customers liked it when he played along, and he could actually go for a bit to drink.

The first few hands saw not much gain or loss on either side, with Jacques winning hands just as frequently as he lost them. Yutaro wasn't worried though; the house always made it's money as long as the player decided to keep playing, and Jacques didn't look like he intended to leave any time soon.
@sakurasan Because of course that exists. lol.

Yutaro's night was going fairly uneventfully so far. Of course, a ditzy blond who had no idea how to play the game was the big winner of the night thus far, walking away with triple her buy-in and a handsome young man on her arm who insisted she accompany him for the rest of the night for "good luck." Of course it was a rather transparent ploy for him to get lucky, but such things happened all the time and had stopped being interesting long ago. What was interesting was the new face that approached his table. The man had confidence in his gait, and Yutaro could tell just by how naturally he took a seat at the table that he was no stranger to the game. And yet he hadn't seen this man frequent the casino before. It's not as if his features were so generic as to be forgettable; no, Yutaro made it a point to remember his customers' faces. Perhaps he was new in town, and new people were always interesting.

However, there was something a bit more than just novelty about this man. Yes, Yutaro could see it in his eyes; this stranger was checking him out. Although the dealer most definitely preferred the company of women, there was only one correct response for a businessman in this situation: he put on his most charming smile. "No need to worry sir," Yutaro said, giving a light chuckle. "Feel free to bet however much you feel comfortable with, and stay as long as you like. Have one of our bunnies bring you a drink. The bar can make just about anything." Yutaro didn't mind at all if the stranger wanted to bet slow and steady. The longer he played, the more likely statistics would take over and he would end up paying the house for his drinks. Also, people tended to get scared off by a big loss, and were more likely to ignore a steady trickle of loss in the house's favor. He would play this man's game all night long.

The stranger seemed to be the sociable type, so Yutaro decided to make a little small talk as he dealt out the cards. "A man worried about how the world perceives him eh? I'd say you were a politician, but you're too up front and honest about that. Are you on TV?" Yutaro didn't expect to be right, and would probably impress himself more than his new friend if he was right. But it was a fun way to break the ice. Playing a guessing game was certainly a bit more interesting than the generic "so, what do you do for a living" question.
I just think DS2 has too many dudes in armor as bosses. Considering it came from the maker of Monster Hunter, I was expecting a lot more cool monsters...
@BeastofDestiny My PC is too old to do games u_u
Hey, guys, sorry for poofing. Dark Souls II has taken over my life, as of late >.<

I love the souls series. Haven't gotten to play bloodborne or DS3 yet because no PS4, but the original Dark Souls is my favorite in the series, followed by Demon's Souls, followed by DSII
@Azaria Blue That's awesome! I wish I could draw.

@ Everyone else: Posted as Yutaro at the casino if anyone wants to interact there.
