Fab, when it comes to portraying a character believably, you might be the best this site has.

There's no need to build a labyrinth when the entire universe is one.

Bio

Well, this was my account. Had my fair share of memories of the guild, both good and bad. I hope you all have a great time here and keep getting better at RPing and writing. Myself, I've fallen out of love with roleplaying in general, and this site in particular. There's still good people here, but I've learned enough and seen enough that I'm not confident this site is going good places. Tanderbolt's moving on. Where am I going after this? I don't know, but to quote Raymond Carver, "I'm always learning something. Learning never ends.". Good night, ladies, good night

Working on a post now, just a quick one to introduce Robert into the story.
Here's the storybrooke profile, let me know if anything needs to be changed.

Name: Robert Leland

Appearance:

Age: 35

Status and Job: Sheriff

Skills:
-Good Marksman
-Does not give up easily once he has decided to do something
-Physically fit, especially when it comes to endurance

Talents:
When he's not on the job or drinking, he likes to exercise, read french literature, or work on his model train set.

Strengths:
Very persistent and extremely loyal, good at following rules. Hard to persuade or charm. Can think quickly, and is not afraid to make tough choices.

Weaknesses:
Hates deviating from the letter of the law, and gets very upset when other people do. Poor understanding of other people and little empathy, no close relationships. Suffers from PTSD, which leads to bouts of depression and anxiety, often drinks excessively to manage this. Hates to ask for help, this is has not helped him manage his personal issues.

Relationships:
Regina Mills - Mayor of Storybrooke, and his employer.

Brief Bio:
Robert's a war veteran, he joined the army after 9/11 and nasty breakup. His multiple tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan have left him with a few nagging injuries and a bad case of PTSD. He had trouble adjusting to civilian life, his cold demeanor, lack of skills, and alcoholism meant that he never could never hold down a job for long. He moved between towns for a while, looking for work and frequently living out of his car. One day, he came to Storybrooke, and found work as a sherriff's deputy. Robert followed the rules well, and displayed a high degree of loyalty, even though he was never friendliest officer. When the old sherriff retired, Robert was promoted in his place.
Sherriff sounds like a great idea. The image works for me, if it's still broken for you I'll try rehosting somewhere else. Working on the storybrooke profile now.
Stupid double postin' server.
Here's my character, I tried to connect it with some of the other characters. I had a ton of ideas, so it was hard picking which one to try. I'll work on the storybrooke bio soon.

Name: Count Roland
Age: 35
Affilitation: Mostly good, but works for evil
Magical Capabilities: Superhuman and ability to survive physical trauma, magically compelled to follow the code of chivalry and obey his feudal lord
Weapons: His sword, Durendal, which is incredibly sharp and virtually indestructible.

Strengths: Roland has great willpower, and never gives up once he sets his mind to a task. He can work at task tirelessly, and concentrate well. He is very skilled swordsman, and can also ride a horse well.

Weaknesses: The bargain has made it so that he cannot form emotional bonds, which means that he has trouble understanding and relating to other people. It also means that he is oftentimes troubled and lonely, because he has no one for emotional support. He isn’t a very charismatic man, and has trouble understanding human psychology. He also cannot break his feudal oaths, even it would be beneficial to him. Roland loathes calling for help, believing that it shows weakness.

Relationships:
King Leopold (former feudal lord, deceased)
Queen Regina (current feudal lord)
Angelica (loved her before his deal with Rumpelstiltskin)
Rumpelstiltskin (made a bargain with him)
Rinaldo (cousin and fellow knight)

Brief Bio:
Roland is knight coming from a noble family, one that has a served the kingdom honorably for many generations. The ways of chivalry and combat came naturally to Roland, he accomplished acts of heroism even as a child. When he became an adult, he became one of the kingdom’s most trusted paladins, always known for putting his chivalric duties before personal concerns. One day, a princess from a far off land named Angelica visited in order to find a husband, and held a tournament to find the most noble warrior. The tournament was disrupted by the giant Ferraguto, who kidnapped Angelica, leading Roland and other knights to chase after her. The heroes eventually catch up to Ferraguto, and Roland slays him, freeing Angelica, who is grateful. However, Angelica does not love Roland, and runs away from him at the earliest opportunity. Roland searches for her, but receives word that the kingdom is under attack, and that they need his help urgently.

He realized that he should return home, but his grief sapped his willpower, and Roland found himself unable to make the journey. By chance, Roland happened to meet a man who could solve his problem, one commonly known as Rumpelstiltskin. He offered Roland a bargain, which would take away Roland’s grief, make sure that he would always serve the ruler of the realm, and uphold the code of chivalry. Roland accepted, not knowing the consequences of the deal, and felt his emotions slowly calm themselves. He traveled back to the kingdom, and fought off the invaders coldly and callously, finding himself no longer bothered by the bloodshed.

Roland never quite felt the same after making that bargain. Not only did he no longer want to be with Angelica any more, but he found his fondness for family and old friends was slipping away. He realized that Rumpelstiltskin’s curse had not just removed his fondness for Angelica, but that it had destroyed all of his ability to form emotional bonds and to feel compassion. It had replaced those desires with an unflinching adherence to the chivalric code, unguided by emotional concerns. The requirement for serving the lord of the realm means that he now obeys the command of queen Regina, a woman that the old Roland would have never followed. His code prevents him from doing some of the dirtiest work, like harming innocents, but he has no qualms about ruthlessly enforcing the law.
I'm interested in this RP. I wanted to make a character, but I wanted it to be someone out of the typical fairy tale characters. Maybe a more obscure European hero, like Roland or Sadko, or even an American character, like Hiawatha or Rip van Winkle. The only problem is that these might have little connection to the other characters unless I really stretch the story. Would this be ok?

Is this a work in progress?

Should be fixed now.
Double post, ignore.
Name: Nate Allen

Alias: Allotrope

Hero/Villain: Hero

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Straight

Appearance: A young man with brown eyes and short curly brown hair. His face is slightly pudgy, and his nose is small and wide. Nate is shorter than average, and stocky though fit. For civilian clothes, he likes to wear blue jeans and and crisp off-brand polo shirt. His superhero costume is simple due to his lack of resources, consisting mostly of a leather jacket worn over a hoodie and a pair of black jeans. To conceal his identity, he wears a paintball mask under his hood. Adding a personal touch, Nate wears a patch with his logo, a giant A, on the back of his jacket, and uses knee pads that also bear his logo.

Personality: Not very serious, always looking for glory. He is not very disciplined, and does not follow the rules strictly, but never does anything completely amoral. Often makes jokes, and has a laid-back attitude. Though he tries to project the aura of the cool guy who isn't bothered by anything, he is actually compassionate and willing to do the right thing when necessary.

Powers: Self-Transmutation: Can take on the properties of any solid or liquid he touches a sample of. For example, touching steel would make him stronger and more durable, but also slower due to the increases density, while touching sand would make him amorphous and able to fit into small spaces. When in loose forms, he will revert to his normal self if he is spread too thin or a significant chunk is separated from himself.

Equipment: Inside his jacket he keeps samples of a few commonly available but useful substances, like aluminum, water, and lead. He has not yet been able to acquire samples of any exotic materials. For transportation, he drives a beat-up hatchback that he purchased from a shady used car dealership.

Skills/Special Abilities: He has a lot of experience in street fights, he is good at unarmed combat although his fighting style is unpolished. Nate's years as a con man and small time crook have given him a lot of practice at fast talking and negotiating.

Background: Nate came from a bad neighborhood and a broken home, there was no on in his life that really acted as a positive role model. He got in with a bad crowd in school, and dropped out before graduating. He tried to work legitimate jobs for a while, but could not live off of the meager pay, leading him to turn to crime. Nate got involved with petty schemes, like working for unlicensed bookies or selling untaxed cigarettes. He always stayed away from more serious areas like drugs and gangs, partly out of fear and partly out of his integrity. Although it didn't bring in much money, it was enough for him to get by.

One day, a friend asked Nate for help in robbing an abandoned laboratory. Nate was understandably nervous, but the risk was small enough and the pay was high enough to convince him to take part. While snooping around inside the building, Nate came across a chemical lab, and rummaged through the remaining vials, and accidentally spilled a few on himself. At first, he felt nothing, but then he touched the wall and felt his skin turn into the same kind of brick it was made of. While he was still trying to process what had happened, Nate heard police sirens, and ran home without meeting up with his friend. Over the next few days, Nate experimented with his power more, learning his capabilities and limits. Thanks to his powers, he finally had a way to escape his life of poverty and petty crime. Nate created a rudimentary costume and gathered up some useful supplies, becoming the hero known as Allotrope.

Other: Doesn't have a MeChip, can't afford one and doesn't want to be tracked.
Theme Song:
Well, I only know the games from reading an LP of the first two, but I love super hero RPs.
