First things first:
For further insight into who I am and who I'd like you to be, please check
here and
here, but to be brief:
Be 18+, female and comfortable writing mature/sexual themes
Write ~2-4 paragraphs a post and I'll do the same. I've found that much more can be cumbersome while any less can be uninspiring.
Be capable and comfortable writing multiple posts a day, usually during the work week. My job can be very boring. =]
Come for the sex, stay for the romance. This is a crass way of saying yes, there will be lots of fun sex scenes, but the real focus should be on the romance and the character development.
It's pretty important to be familiar with cruises, ideally having been on one in the past.
Now that we're done with the fine print,
I've just returned from my second cruise ever and both times I found myself fascinated with the idea of love in a microcosm. The cruises tend to be a lot of older people enjoying their retirements and the families they drag along, but while they are the majority they are most certainly not the entirety. I think there are plenty of opportunities for budding romances there, and the idea fascinates me.
While I don't have a defined plot in mind beyond "romance on a luxury cruise", I'd like to come up with one with you. Here are some thoughts, moments and scenes that got this thread going and wouldn't stop replaying in my head until I finally wrote this IC:
Passing glances that gradually become shared smiles as our characters inevitably keep running into each other
The sweet softness of puppy love, the unbarred passion of new love
Dexterous fingers doing dirty work under the water while cuddled up in the public hot spa, surrounded by unsuspecting vacationers
The slow realization of where you are when you awaken in a foreign cabin, naked save for the stranger draped over you
The awkward morning after when you realize you don't know his last name but you can't seem to forget the color of his eyes
The slow dawning of the deadline to their romance; what the end of the cruise means to them and whether or not taking it beyond the boat is feasible, or even something they want
And who are they? I was thinking about that, too, and came up with a few possibilities. I'm sure there are more, but here's my list:
Someone who goes on these often, part of a rich family who is either with them on yet another family trip or just on a cruise to spend the dynasty's money
Someone who lives on the ship for whatever reason: perhaps they're in need of hospice care, or their parents think it would give them a cultured life to see so many destinations, or a relative to a prominent crew member
Someone who would never do something like go on a cruise but won a non-exchangeable pair of tickets from a radio station or something like that
A professional gambler who's taking part of a tournament on the cruise
An art collector who is there to attend the many auctions in foreign locales
A performer/entertainer hired on to work the stage to entertain the masses, like a comedian, magician, musician or dancer
Perhaps they already know each other, and the romance buds on the cruise. Best friends, maybe, who only ever saw each other as a sibling before the cruise. Or a failing relationship's final attempt to reconnect with one another before calling it quits.
We could even take this a step darker, involving things like incest or something.
Whatever it is we decide on, I'd like to focus on the nitty-gritty details. I want to write the scenes that take place after the movie's camera would pan away, and really dig into the emotions on what a relationship would be like with a timer slowly ticking down to completion. I don't
want this to be easy nor do I want it to just "work out"; I want to see if we can find out whether or not two real people could really find lasting love on a cruise, or if a passing lust is all a week-long vacation could afford.
Weirdly specific, right? ^_^ I've room in my schedule to do one iteration of this story, so please forgive me if I'm picky; life is busy but my head won't leave me alone about this one.
Cheers to you if you've read through this to the bottom.
Here's a gif for the trouble.
