Oh, that first idea sounds so good! And I don’t think it’ll be too hard to adapt to more of a group focus, if that’s what you’d like. There are a lot of very good reasons to dislike a 19th century tycoon.
Color me curious. I’m down for anything, although I tend to prefer at least a fantastical edge to things. I’m out of ideas right now, but after a good night’s sleep, I’ll be ready for brainstorming!
Cell: Cred—owner and bartender of the Gas Leak pub
Age: 49
Bio: Nova has been working ever since they were old enough, bouncing around from job to job trying to help their family make ends meet and, when they left home, trying to support themself. Most of them were in the service industry or manual labor—low wages, long hours, and few protections.
When they were 22, due to some good timing and better luck, they managed to find their way into an assistant position for a middle manager higher up in Blue Corp. The pay was good, hours better and it was slightly less obviously demeaning, so they bent over backwards to keep it, even when it started involving body mods.
Now, modification was not something that they were inherently opposed to, in fact, they privately found the idea very appealing for a number of reasons. However, being coerced into body modification for a job and the ways the cosmetic modifications tended to be masculinizing made them deeply uncomfortable. They needed that job and the money, so they got them. They were fired without warning after a year and a half.
They were deeply upset after losing that job and in the months afterward gave into despair a little. Lucky for them, around this time, they found a job down at the docks. There they friends who helped to introduce them to leftist politics. That in conjunction with their prior experiences with labor and society, successfully radicalized them. They were very active politically when they were younger, and still are, but they and the organizations they were involved with didn’t get much done. They just didn’t have the manpower. Among other things. It was around this time they became involved with Sk8te, though they never joined. The lifestyle didn’t quite suit them.
After ten or so years of trying and failing to change society for the better, they began to feel disheartened again. By this time, they broken with the world of fully legal work and had found themself in ownership of the Gas Leak bar. They decided to pivot to just taking care of the people they could in their community. They began using the bar to give people a safe place to be. As long as they’re not a cop or an heir or actively endangering patrons, they’re welcome. This very much includes illegal activity.
Now as the owner of the bar, they have slowly become a pillar of the community. They are tired of the constant grind inherent to living in this society, and have begun to give up on any significant large-scale change in their lifetime. But they still have hope that they might be able to do something more…
Appearance: Nova looks like a fairly unremarkable bartender. They’ve got medium-brown skin, black eyes, and dark brown hair streaked through with grey. It’s styled in an undercut and usually pulled back away from their face. They’ve been around the block before and they look like it. They seem just a little worn around the edges. They have since replaced all the cybernetics they were pressured into for work and have opted to give their face and body a more androgynous-to-feminine look. In terms of their more functional modifications, they had their spine and both legs from the knees down replaced because of pain and injuries, their arms and hands replaced and adjusted for both strength and dexterity. All of their visible cybernetics are a bit scuffed and look just a little outdated. For clothing, they favor a lot of dark, tight faux leather that has lost its shine after years of use.
[@TheNoKoKid] I posted my character sheet a couple of days ago, although I’m realizing now that I forgot to tag you so I’m not sure you saw it. Do you want me to repost it or link it?
Okay, I'm here. I'm finally feeling better enough to be creative! Let me know if I forgot anything!

Thirding the concern about post length, but I am still interested. Sort of going along with Lucky’s wonderful idea, I plan on having my character have a dubiously legal business. I think I’ll have them well connected to the criminal elements of the megacities as well (Sk8te or otherwise) as well as a few of the more corrupt Creds and maybe even an Heir or two.
Oh, and I want to clarify: are we assuming everyone who isn’t a regular worker or an Heir is in Sk8te, or can there be other unaffiliated gangs and such?
I’m still in the just vibes part of character creation, but I’m thinking either a Sk8te member or like a bartender. Still affiliated with/ friendly to Sk8te, though. Maybe even a body mod doctor, like you suggested? Either way, they’ll be very tired and unhappy with society as it is. And I think if they’re not in Sk8te proper, they might be a kind of staple of the community.
