That's Yugioh for you.
So is it possible for somebody in a battle royale with battle royale life points to play against somebody not in a battle royale?

That seems like it's rife for opportunities for abuse with something like Gift Of Greed abuse with a friend. Would probably make more sense if your lifepoints weren't affected by duels outside of the battle royale, or that just by accepting a duel you forfeit the battle royale, but i wouldn't know. I'm not KOGaming.
@Satoshi Kyou and @GarlandDaHero Y'all are panicking too much. Even the highest attack in the game can't break through a single monster in defense position without something like piercing damage. I never really intended for that character to be brought back up, but if you want to play against a gimmickey deck that's fun to pull off at times, go right ahead, nobody's stopping you from curbstomping her 3 turns in with Necroface or whatever.

@GarlandDaHero Her entire strategy is based around self-milling her own deck repeatedly to power up some okayish bricky monsters. If you can't make like Donald Trump and build a wall till she mills herself out, that's your own lookout.

The one monster that immediately crossed my mind and would be nuked to shit probably most of all is Utopia Kaiser.

Not that it was a super good monster to begin with, but now it's basically unplayable because 'lel multiple xyz monsters wazzat?'.

F

At least there aren't all that many xyzs that relied on multiple xyz monsters to be out at all, unlike a certain other kind of cards with white backgrounds...

What's really weird about this is how much it hurts those tier 2, rogue and legacy decks that went off once in a blue moon but were so iconically yugioh. Grandsoil loop is gone. Electrogustav is gone. Those kooky Outer God and Goyo cards and anything involving Synchro Fusionist, also gone. Any strategy that relies on synchro summoning multiple synchros and feeling like yusei while you're doing it like debris junk doppel and quickdraw dandywarrior, gone. Any HERO deck that's not "how fast can I make dark law and have him stick?", gone.

@Mr Allen J Is it somebody in particular?

I'd hate to think we're all waiting for one person to post or something.
If we're going to change the rules and rulings, make it an event in-game. Much more fun to have our characters react to this change and presumable new house just like we are.
I mean Cyberdark Impact. The whole Senet Switch, Blasting fuse, Alien infiltrator... those whole ilk of cards.

Link monsters are cool, they add this whole mechanic of zone presence. People can now start playing monsters into specific zones if they think their opponent has a card that uses that zone already, which adds player interaction. Suddenly ojamas get a buff, for controlling the zones your opponent can and can't use.

It has potential, sure, but the fact that they've completely nerfed everything that existed before to get to it is... wow. It's impressive, i'll give them that. Subterrors, Kozmo, Yosenju, Monarchs, and Kaijus are the new meta now.
So, anyone seen the new Link Monster Reveal yet?

I'm going to spoiler my thoughts cause it's big damn news.

@KOgaming

Aya watched with barely concealed glee as the two monsters went at it. Even through the glass, the fight looked intense. The dodging, the weaving, the shouts of the tiny little people in the buildings as they were destroyed, one by one, by the clash of the two monsters. But inevitably, one would prevail over the other. Dogoran tried his best, but the red giant was simply outmached by the beams that Jiku... Big dragon thingy emitted. Finally, it let out one final, reedy roar, and toppled over, with it's enormous floppy body lying right in the middle of the plaza. Beautiful. Aya almost forgot it was still her turn with all that spectacle.

"What? Oh, yeah. With Doggie hitting the graveyard, I have three counters on Kyoutow waterfront" She began, picking the card up and off of her opponent's disk and sliding it into her own grave. "With Three counters on Kyoutow, it's special effect activates, and I can add one more Kaiju to my hand for next turn, and i'm picking Turtle." She pulled the card out of her deck with a bit of a flourish, walking back to her side of the field. That was the one big disadvantage of playing these things. It always felt so wrong to move over to her opponent's disk and start playing her cards on it. Greydle players had it so much easier, not needing to hoof it everywhere to play the game at all.
"And with two cards face down, i'll end my turn here."

She reviewed the board, spinning around on her heel as she did. Overall, pretty well. A big beefy beater on her side of the field, and enough counters on Kyoutow to have it's effect go off. With two face-down traps on her side of the field and her opponent practically empty, she was dead set on making a comeback in this duel. Not that there weren't a few problems, of course. Her hand was an open secret to both players - A turtle and a field spell, none of which would become useful 'til next turn. He could play safe in the knowledge that she wasn't going to drop hand traps on it. And, as she privately observed, her backrow was terrible. She had a Twin Twister face down. Usually, a good card. Generates a ton of backrow damage and puts counters on Kyoutow. But it wouldn't negate anything he played, and he'd have free reign to stomp all over her if he had the potential. She'd have to rely on the other card to stop him from making his plays, and that would be difficult, given that the other card was Solemn Warning. A card with a big, ugly, 2000lp cost to it that made it awfully difficult to use right now, what with her measly 1800 and all. She had diddley. She had less then diddley, she had squat.

She'd have to bluff it out.

"It's your move, friend. Try not to play into my hands, okay?"
