Current Holy hell, I survived the night. It was rough and I only got like, an hour of sleep, but I survived. I'm in recovery now. Even though I got it out, I think it scratched my eyeball.

Ray decided immediately that he didn't like Knight. They hadn't talked at all before this and Ray was quite grateful for it, Knight reminded him of the kids who lorded their parent's superior jobs over his family. He liked Duncan a lot more and gave him a warm nod as he addressed Knight. He also hadn't talked to Duncan much, he understood that Duncan's...situation was special but that was all he understood. And that was really all he needed to understand. Ray listened to the A.I. intently, his arms crossed. He was itching to get out there. After Duncan rapid fired his own questions, Ray thought for a moment and only asked one thing.

"Do you think we'll have to kill anyone?"

If there was one thing that Ray hated, that was violence. He had heard of the creatures or at least the estimated behavior of the creatures out in the wasteland. Ray wasn't concerned with that. He didn't want to kill any other human beings, there were so few of them already.

Then there was Knight, Ray could tell this guy would be a handful, he didn't strike Ray as a compassionate person. He was struck by the uncanny resemblance between the omega A.I. and Knight himself. Both cold, objective driven, though Knight had a far more irritating superiority complex. Still, Ray couldn't dwell on this, this was one of the guys he'd be traversing the hellish landscape with and they'd need to be as thick as thieves if they were going to survive this. But if they were confronted with a decision of mercy, especially against someone or something that attacked them, Ray couldn't shake the feeling that Knight would kill them without saying a word. The danger and uncertainty of all that lie outside the vault hung like an ominous cloud over them and the young musician knew he wasn't the only one who felt it.
@Dark Wind congrats!
While I wait for approval, I'm gonna read through the IC so far. All 5 pages of it...guess I'll put on some background music.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'll just skim.

Too much.
Everyone on this planet is stupid.

The human race is stupid.

The only reason we survived this long is that we as a species climb onto the backs of much greater and more talented individuals so that they can wade the seas of time to prolong our tortured existence before they too eventually give out, leaving the idiots to drown themselves if we're lucky.

And we're usually not.
@Dark Wind I finished, though I don't know if it notified you. Just notifying twice to be safe, sometimes people will tag me and it won't pop up in my notifications.
@Dark Wind Thank you, I can be really anal about dates (guess that's the historian in me) so I appreciate it.
Interested, slowly becoming obsessed with Steven Universe, which I originally though was a silly kids show. And it can be silly at times, but it gets really good.

First post is up! Sorry if its a little short.

Arnold 'Ray' Dow
Vault 216

Ray packed the last of his things in his room and sighed as he looked around the gray and lifeless room. His wandering eyes rest upon Jessie and he smiled. The young musician walked over to the curved instrument and picked her up. She was an acoustic, with a sun-kissed paint job, a Martin. She was a true beauty. Ray examined the strap attached to her, Vault-Tec's yellow logo printed over and over on it on a blue background. Favor from a friend, who was in charge of all fabric and clothing. He simply couldn't leave her, he knew the other guys would give him shit for bringing her, but if one thing would keep his hopes up out there it would be music.

"I still think this is an awful idea."

The stern voice cracked out from his bedroom doorway and he sighed.

"I know Ma."

"What would your father say?"

"He'd say...I don't know. I always found him hard to read."

Ray turned around to face his mother and was surprised to see tears in her eyes. She was always so tough and yet, despite the tears in her eyes, she had an expression of defiance. A ghost of a smile graced his face and walked over to her, pulling her into a tight hug. "I'll be fine, Ma." he murmured.

"I already lost your father. I can't lose you too..."

Ray tightened the leather straps that held what little armor he had on and slung Jessica over his shoulder, she bounced lightly against his back. His pack was small as it is, so Jessica had plenty of room. The 10mm he was assigned sat snugly in his thigh holster, recently polished and maintained by him. He sincerely hoped he wouldn't need it. On his walk to the vault door, people were wishing him luck, saying they would pray for him, saying they would attend his funeral, or simply nothing at all. Ray glimpsed Lyla briskly walk past him, without looking at him. He thought he saw a mask of pain on her face. And all too soon, he was at the door, with the others. Ray looked back at his home and steeled himself.

"Well, I guess this is it."

"Let's Rock 'n' Roll."
Name: Sola Jansen
Race: Zabrak/Human
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Theme Song:

Appearance:

Sola has an intelligent and sharp look about her, she is slim but if one looks closely her body is toned with muscle. Her sharp features and piercing sapphire eyes make her look much older than she actually is. Her black hair, blue eyes, attractive features, and more lithe build is thanks to her human father. Her muscle, orange skin, natural tattoos and face markings, and horns are thanks to her zabrak mother. Sola often wears a brown and black tunic with a robe of a dark color over it.

The fabric around the arms and legs are tighter to her limbs, as she dislikes the unnecessary extra space.

Her lightsaber hilt looks like this. Its double bladed and purple.

Background/History:

Sola Jansen was born in 3989 BBY on a space station in the outer rim. Her mother was a Zabrak mercenary and her father...well no one knows who her father is. No one really knows much about her family. Her mother came stumbling into the Jedi citadel with a 3 year old Sola, told the Jedi Sola's name, then dropped dead right there in the hall. Much to the Jedi's relief, Sola turned out to be strong in the force and they started to care for her.

Sola grew up as an arrogant, charming kid who had a presence, even as a child, that commanded respect. Teaching her humility and love and the peaceful ways of the jedi was a difficult task indeed for the masters. She was the popular one among her peers, talented in the force and saber play and despite her arrogance and fearlessness, Sola had a soft and protective spot for her friends and peers. As she got older, Sola began to display more of an aptitude for physical combat and saber play than the force. Her instructors began to consider the possibility of instructing her in Juyo, the most ferocious and darkest of the lightsaber forms. There was much objection of course, Juyo was a style that teetered on the edge of darkness and would be detrimental to Sola's already aggressive personality.

The instructors pointed out that even though the young Zabrak had an aggressive and voracious personality, she had never lost control or gave in to her darker impulses and always showed honor and mercy to her sparring opponents. Additionally, this form could channel her darkness into a weapon of light and teach her discipline. After much debate, they agreed that she would be allowed to practice Form VII. Sola built her lightsaber during her Padawan trials and her creation only caused further doubt within the masters. A double-bladed saber, an infamous model used often by dark jedi, with a purple crystal. The masters then decided that only a weapons master could train the young padawan, to teach her the ways of physical and saber combat and to instill in her the discipline of the light.

They chose Master Molindi Kaiser, Jedi Weapons Master.

Master Kaiser was a veteran of The Great Sith War and Sola's instructors were confident that she could train Sola effectively.

Sola and Molindi took to each other immediately and launched right into training. And Sola loved every minute of it. The challenge, the style of fighting, the double bladed combat, Molindi's views on life and the order. She was refreshed by everything, she felt so free with her master, no restrictions of the uptight jedi instructors. And as the years passed, Sola thrived and became stronger. Even at age 16, she was being considered as one of the more skilled warriors within the order. She still had trouble with things such as humility and complete detachment, especially with such a passionate personality and way of life. It was as if the force sensed this and it made everyone in her presence feel a certain way. Intimidated, impressed, whatever it was, Sola commanded a respect simply by standing still.

But even through all this, she never lost her soft spot for her friends and the innocent. And while traveling with Molindi through the galaxy and seeing all walks of life, she began to feel an affection towards the citizens of the universe, which was only rivaled by her disdain of those who prey on the weak. She had developed a certain fondness and respect for soldiers and warriors of all types, especially those who protect their home and their people (and after a night of passion with one certain soldier, which Molindi swiftly found about and put a stop to, Sola's affection for them only increased.) And yet despite all this, against the many expectations of her many instructors, Sola never allowed her emotions to compromise her duty, however strong they might be.

Sola passed her trials and became a full fledged Jedi Knight and certified Guardian at the age of 19, just a month before her tale starts. Many were impressed, not many became knights this young, but of course they expected nothing less of the exceptional Sola Jansen. She's currently traveling to meditate on her success and to think before she is assigned a mission.

Personality:

Sola is not what you call a traditional Jedi. She loosely follows the code of the Jedi, as she feels it detaches them from the people they're sworn to protect. Many of Sola's views are heavily inspired by her master, Molindi Kaiser. She loves fitness and is interested in history. As a Jedi Guardian, her connection to the force is more connective and combative rather than ethereal and contemplative. She's developed a strong affection for people over the years, especially her fellow jedi and warriors, who she can relate to sometimes more than her masters. She has overwhelming disdain for those who prey on the weak, despite not understanding those who refuse to fight or simply won't will themselves to.

Sola has a certain presence which is amplified by the force. But even without the force, many would find her intimidating or impressive. Combined with her striking sharp features and beautiful face, Sola is truly a sight to behold. She is known throughout the order as an exceptionally skilled combatant and as one of the few Jedi who use Juyo and a double-bladed lightsaber. She has surprisingly good control over her emotions and is able to hide what she is feeling from most people. Thanks to Juyo she can channel all her negative energy into the fight and use her negative feelings as a tool for the light.

Skills/Abilities:

Force Abilities:

Force Push/Pull (Advanced)
Force Speed (Advanced)
Force Persuasion/Intimidation (Intermediate, not conscious, just a by-product of her personality.)
Force Alteration: Sola can use the force to manipulate certain things about her body, such as the strength at which she fights, speed of her reflexes or how powerful she can wield her saber.

Form VII-Juyo (Expert)
Guardian Martial Arts (Advanced)
Double-Blade wielding (Advanced)

Strengths: Fearless, Intelligent, Charming, In excellent physical shape, Can speak the most common languages, Has excellent control of her emotions, Has the ability to inspire troops and fellow jedi to be fearless in battle.

Weaknesses: Impatient, arrogant, weaker in the more abstract ways of the force. Refuses to wear armor, making her a glass cannon.
