Ah you should clarify that then, because most countries in Asia/Africa at this period that arent tribes/clans are classified as uncivilized.

I think that I already have, thanks to you. :)

China and Japan are uncivilized countries, I thought we weren't allowed to play as uncivs?

What I meant by that was that you can't play as the tribes/clans in Africa and Asia. China and Japan are fine to play.

This is an excellent resource for historical maps. You can't convert them to image form, sadly, but it's still useful.

Wow. I might just link to this and tell people to put in '1821' on the boxes. Thanks, Nexerus.

EDIT: I have put the link to that site up on the interested check.

Interested, can I have dibs on China or Japan?

Just post a character sheet of either one and I will look at it.
The map in the OP is incorrect for 1821. Russia should control the Caucasus, it doesn't make sense to show the personal union between the Netherlands and Luxembourg as one state but not Norway and Sweden, etc. Not necessarily advising that it be edited, just not taken as authoritative.

I tired to found other maps that were in 1821, but they searches lead me to nowhere. I was thinking of moving up the date from 1821 to 1836, since there are maps for the year.

If you guys find better maps than this or find more errors, please tell me and I will try to fix the map.

Potentially interested, keeping a eye on this.

I am assuming we have to keep everything historical, and can't modify anything?

Yes, we are keeping it historical with some modifications to make it not entirely historical.

That shit is literally fifteen years away at most--give or take five years. A third world war devoid of nuclear exchange would have facilitated an unprecedented degree of technological development.

A lot of traditional science fiction technologies simply aren't science fiction anymore by 2050 due to Kurzweil's Law of Accelerating Returns: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerating_change#Kurzweil.27s_The_Law_of_Accelerating_Returns

Also, weren't some countries freed up due to a number of players dropping out? Still waiting for the owner of Nigeria to quit and/or lose interest, but I might draft something playable in the mean time.

True that it's like fifteen years away. But, that doesn't mean that we have the ability to do so. Plus, it's the GM's words in this after all.

You could play as an country in Southern part of Africa. Or be the Empire of Brazil.
I just thought about something.
We are in 2050 and perhaps permanent moon habitats became a reality.
Would it be alright if Neo Hungaria claims some territories on the Moon's surface?

Of course the treaties regarding the ban of bringing weapons into space are still mostly in effect but exactly because of this that the lunar colonies are allowed to exist.
Sure, they'd have low population densities and basically the chief importances will be just for science and mining resources.

Wut. You know that we aren't that far into the future.
Oh God, GDP. Are we actually going to have to figure out the GDP for each of our states? With the GBP as the international reserve currency? In 2050?

That's going to be more work than race and religion demographics combined!

Looking at the map in the OP, one could easily come to the objective realization that Europeans do, in fact, rule the planet.

This is basically the 19th century except the political chemistry is a bit different. Every European great power is going to dominate the smaller European states with impunity, most non-white countries and peoples are going to be colonized and exploited, and the aforementioned European great powers are going to martially and economically wrestle with one another in order see who gets to become the world superpower until this RP's version of World War One comes along and radically redefines the world's international rankings upon its conclusion.

If these empires aren't conducting themselves like a traditional empire would, then they probably aren't empires at all.

That is a good point that you made. But, the players do have to realize that dominating something is hard. You have to care for it and control it all at the same time. You can't look away, otherwise it would be out of control. But, most players (that I have seen) just want to build up big armies and sent them out across sea and take the lands there.

I want them to know that the tribes are going to put a fight. I want them to know as well that Africa isn't a safe place to be as unknown animals and diseases are around.

You got a point about how domination is important. I just want the players to know that there are going to be consequences if you try that.

@Nerevarine, I am going to look at your sheet now.
I won't let you down, GG.

One day we should do a Gotham game focusing on the city as a whole, from vigilantes to actual focus political campaigns, and police work. But, my next characters are not Gothamites. Although a lot of people choose Gothamites over other city people, I can appreciate the company. Nonetheless, my next sheet(s) will not be in Gotham, at least not explicitly.

Byrd seriously did a beastly job writing his Flash.

I really like this idea. I really do.
Ah I see. The two of you may want to brainstorm up something else though as Blüdhaven lacks the art galleries, museums and jewelry displays that Gotham has. Unless of course Selina is on the run for some reason or another.

Like I said, without content it was baffling to me but if justified it could make sense. Though Gotham really doesn't have that many players, you have Bats, Robin and Babs now that Xtreme has dropped.

That was going to be my reason why she's at Blüdhaven. She's hiding out with her friend, Holly Robinson, after Catwoman killed their pimp, Stan.

I'd like to remain to Gotham. Since it has all of those art galleries and museums. Plus, Catwoman couldn't fit anywhere else besides Gotham. If it's fine with you, GG.
