When she woke up, Rachel couldn’t remember where she was, let alone what had happened the night before. This wasn’t unusual. Rachel had never been a morning person. Every day began with a good twenty minutes to an hour in a foggy cloud of dazed confusion. What was unusual was that once she dragged herself out of the bed and into the shower, and the grogginess was washed away, the memories didn’t come back. When Rachel thought back to what happened last night, it seemed to cut off with a walk in the park.
There was one other unusual thing, which Rachel didn’t notice until the shower woke her up and she began getting dressed. Around her wrist was a bracelet she had never seen before, gold with what looked like a pearl set in it. The strange thing about the bracelet was that it was perfectly fit to her wrist, with no way of getting it on or off.
”It’s really pretty, but… how did it get there? And what exactly is it? I think I saw a movie once where had a bomb stuck to them like this! What if-
Rachel stopped herself. Her roommate, Sarah, had told her she had a habit of jumping to strange conclusions. In fact, Sarah would probably know what to make of this! Rachel decided she’d ask her for help, but first, it was time to get some breakfast.
