History has been added in for those of you who care to read ;)

Yesh! Will return after dinner to read it.
Gideon – Near the gate entrance to Gandryll Castle

“Were you harmed?” Gideon detected a hint of annoyance in Oathsworn’s question. Or was that concern in his tone? He could never tell with the man.

“No. Just a casual sparring match, my good friend. The vulture is quite formidable in a scrap.” Gideon uttered, casually flicking off crusted blood from his fingernails. “Nearly claimed my eye with that beak of his. Quite glad he telegraphed his strike, otherwise we’d finally have something in common.” Gideon chuckled as he winked with his left eye as if to mock Oathsworn’s scar.

“I disapprove of my current station.” Oathsworn spat, ignoring Gideon’s petty insult. His gaze was fierce in the moonlight, and for a moment, Gideon thought the man was going to transform. “I will not stand idly by as your exploits continue to rust the tenets of my ancestors. I am your bodyguard, as sworn by the blood pact we have made by the divine rite of the Iron Lions, and the many stars of the shalarag’rakan-“

“Oh, dearest brother…” Gideon said with forced endearment. He was in no mood to hear another lecture about the old ways of a tribe nearing its extinction. He pushed off of the cool stones that walled Gandryll’s castle from the city, placing his hands on Oathsworn’s shoulders. “We’ve been over this many times. This is but a temporary circumstance, one that will open many doors for us!”

“You help no one by keeping me out of sword’s reach.” The white-haired cavanar said, flatly.

“I’m fine here, Oath,” Gideon’s patience was wearing thin. “The lot I’m rooming with are priestesses compared to the company we’ve frequented in the past.”

“That is what concerns me most. Five moons have passed and you have not tempered your demon. You put those fools at risk by not doing so.”

Gideon could no longer maintain a compassionate façade. He dug his fingers into the man’s cloak, reeling him in closer. “Your concerns are duly noted, cub. However, you will polish the rusty tenets of that dying tribe of yours by obeying the liberator you’ve sworn to protect!” Gideon wiped the flecks of blood residue from his hands onto Oathsworn’s armor. “Now, tell me that you’ve brought what I’ve asked of you...”

Gideon – Cavanar Cavern

Gideon entered the living quarters with a leather bag tucked under his arm. “Oh my fellow cavanars, do I have a treat for you!” The most responsive of the bunch was Empie, whom immediately took notice to the bag he was holding. “How is my beautiful swashbuckling pirate this evening?” Gideon smiled, making an animated nod of approval at her new attire. She was the most social out of the three, as Kucing usually went off on her own, while Sel was a man that preferred action over words – at least when it came to interacting with Gideon.

“I hope you’re all hungry!” He said aloud, motioning over to the hearth.

By the time Avalon arrived, the dinner table was full of delicious treats. Things like lemon-flavored crème cakes and jelly-filled French rolls came premade, but the platter of fresh honey salmon, Cheyenne sprinkled chili soup and assorted meats, were all prepared by Gideon.

“Good evening, Avalon.” Gideon nodded, gesturing at the table. “I’ve prepared some food if you’re hungry.”

The altercation from earlier still felt fresh, and truth be told, Gideon couldn’t help but feel apologetic for lashing out at the man. It was a frustrating thing to experience, to know you have something inside of you, something more powerful than the average man, yet have but a slither of control over it. The last thing he wanted to do was distance himself from the man who could change all of that.

Gideon’s ears perked up several times throughout Avalon’s briefing. Quite odd for a Lady to hire assassins like the Wolfsbane to retrieve her son.

“I’ve heard of them. Tavern rumors paint tales of a dangerous assassin duo. For a beast to dispatch one so swiftly makes for an interesting quest!” Gideon said from his seat on the table, sloshing a dark wine in his stone cup. “Do you think the survivor will continue on with her trade? I imagine a Wolfsbane’s rates are more affordable now, what with her partner in crime no longer part of the package deal.”
Awesome, Thanks Dmytra for quickly getting back to me on that. Should have a post up later on today.
The fishermen were out in full-force today. The main river that snaked through Wu Xing was the calmest it has ever been, allowing for schools of all types of fish to swim through it. Some had even sold their Pro-bending tickets just to partake in the prospect of a bountiful catch. Those people opted for the audio experience, which was not in short supply, what with handheld radios littering every fishing spot. While listening to it on the radio paled in comparison to the real thing, it was better than nothing. To the gambling bunch, which was a big majority of the fishing community, all that mattered was when the radio man’s voice announced the winner.

“I’m betting my son’s tuition on the Pink Horned Kangaroos!” Lady Tsao said.

“I refinanced my shack to go parlay on Orange Horned Eels and the Grey Snake Badgers to reach the finals!” Liu Bei chimed in.

“You’re nuts old man!” Lady Tsao scoffed as she moved her fishing pole around impatiently. She had only casted her line five minutes ago and was already getting frustrated. “Those two teams won’t even get out of the first round!”

“You know nothing, Tsao!” Liu Bei was the more patient fisher between the two, but at least Lady Tsao’s line had an actual lure on it. Liu Bei’s bait consisted of a paper looped around the hook that read: Free Fish Food! “The Pink Horned Kangaroos are a slippery team to bet on! Unpredictable! The Grey Snake Badgers are proven contenders from Republic City and the Orange Horned Eels are vastly underrated!”

“You’re an idiot, Liu!” Lady Tsao was shouting now, flecks of spit showering the old man’s already shiny forehead. “Don’t come begging for a place to stay when the loan sharks repo everything you have!!!”

Hokkan’s face contorted angrily at the two. “Would you both shut up!!! YOU’RE SCARING AWAY ALL OF THE FISH!!!” His voice was louder than both Lady Tsao and Liu Bei’s combined, loud enough to overpower the radio broadcast echoed about, and loud enough to make all the schools of fish in the vicinity to scatter away. “Okay, I’ve had enough…”

Hokkan swatted his fishing pole aside then brought himself into an all too familiar waterbending stance. He outstretched his hand and felt the vast water particles branching out to everything they touched. When he felt he had a definitive grasp of the surrounding area, he brought up his other hand, shoveling out loads of fish that squirmed inside water bubbles.

Lady Tsao’s mouth dropped to the floor as Liu Bei immediately tried snatching the nearest fish that floated in suspension above him. With as much grace as intended, Hokkan parted one section for himself, then directed the rest, until they hovered above the two fishermen. “Here, I’ve caught way too much for just one person!” As he lowered his hands, the fish rained down on both Lady Tsao and Liu Bei, who were immediately in contest to grab as much fish as they could before nearby fishermen swooped in like Lion Vultures. Hokkan made a toothy grin and gave a thumbs up. “Enjoy!”
Definitely great read so far everyone.

@Thyrdwulf I'm going to try subtlety with Gideon for awhile and see how the RP plays out. So I guess for now, aside from his occasional outburst, he won't be so devious. I'm curious to see what you have planned! Also, can't wait to read up Aelana's history.

Just a couple of quick questions I have that can hopefully get cleared up before I get to posting:
1. How long has the group been together? A couple of weeks or so?
2. I imagine we're not allowed to roam around the city in our transformed state, but it seems with the king's concerns, that we're prohibited entirely. Is my assumption correct? Or is good ol Avalon nice enough to look the other way, so long as we don't literally paint the town red?
3. Did the King's actual birthdate happen, and was there a big celebration in town?

Thanks in advance!
That's great information thank you. We'll be loosely drawing from myth and legend to create our own lore in this mystical realm. I think that's fine having a curious Djinn, though I do plan on having other deities or spirits used as generators for magic users.
Welcome Imperfectionist and Jannah! Yeah, I'd like to steer clear of the faith and basically have the lore loosely based off the legends, much like how Jade Empire was inspired by ancient china. It's a mythos I'm not well versed in, so I'm all for collaborative world building with everyone involved. An assassin I could see happening for either group, but a Djinn would be kinda tricky...unless I make them as avatars of the elements where people draw their magic from...

Edit: @Nug that's an awesome possibility that I'll allow!
Thanks for showing interest!

how is it that the winning guild is gifted great luxuries? I rather suspect that the Sultan and his nobles aren't providing these gifts.

A percentage of earnings gained from all guilds goes to the crowned headmaster. Don't have a name for the city yet. Suggestions are welcome!

Couple of questions: One will characters have any special powers or the like? Are Djinn a thing? Also do we have to be a part of the guilds, or could we for example play one of the Sultan's guards trying to the stop the thieves and reform the city from within?

Yes. Characters can use magic, but can be imprisoned or tortured if used in public. Djinns are definitely a thing, but are less common than magic users. This will be flushed out later on, provided there's enough interest to warrant an ooc.

As mentioned, we will be rping under one thief guild, unless there's a lot of interest shown as the Sultan's guard, however, they won't be in a position to reform much.
Yeah, there are four thief guilds, including ours.
