Many years ago, during a vague yet terrifying time, the world was not comprised of cities, but countries as well. The wars and distrust tore them apart, leaving them separated from one another. Violence was nearly a constant in this world, and diplomacy wasn't practiced in the manner we now know.
One day, one of these countries, a very important one, suddenly and unexpectedly had it's economy fail. Many others, who had been relying on the country, failed as well. Eventually people were panicing, begging for the safety of their country and and wanting nothing more than to have themselves protected.
Then a wise man we now know as our leader stood above the crowds and spoke. He promised safety and a place for everyone. No more fear. No more war. The idea was inticing, and many people agreed instantly. Though some fought back, everyone eventually conformed to the new world of The Emerald Empire.
Everyone is now safe and sound. Everyone is happy and healthy. There has been no greater time then the centuries under King Oliver Dent.
You've heard that same speech so many times, over and over. Yet, deep in your heart, you know it was a lie. You have always known this on some level. Something was wrong. This isn't working. You need to change it.
One day, in some way, shape, or form, you were asked to leave your home. Be it a person, a letter, a telepathic thought, whatever. You were asked to leave. No further instructions were given. After some time, be it an hour or a year later, you finally decide to leave the land you call home.

Hello there! Welcome to my roleplay! As you saw from the introduction, this is a roleplay set in the distanct future after a country (Germany, to be specific) had it's economy suddenly collapse, bringing a good chunk of Europe with it. Everyone begin to panic, as this would only lead to a domino effect of failed countries. Everyone wanted a safe way out, and Sir Oliver Dent promised as much.
This lead to the unification of the world, renamed The Emerald Empire, named after the promise of a stable economy. The world was divided into large cities made to fill out certain tasks and responsibilities. Like the Hunger Games, except I'll be taking it a much different direction.
Your character will be a resident of one of these cities. As mentioned, you will be told to leave in some way. You don't know who the person or the thing came from, but a mysterious G.O.M. is mentioned.
Also, during the RP, your character will eventually gain some sort of magic/supernatural power or form (or anything else you can think of) through means I'll keep hidden for now, explained through the power of science. Pick something you think fits your character.
Now then, here are the rules:
1. As usual, follow the basics. I figure it doesn't need to be said, but you can never be too careful~!
2. Character death is allowed, but don't kill without permission. Those concerned should PM about how and when it'll go down if you agree to do so.
3. You can make as many characters as you feel you can handle. I myself want to do four, but I might cut one or two.
4. If you have any questions or suggestions or cool ideas, please tell me, I'd love to hear them!
5. In this world, the only people allowed to have last names that aren't English (or English sounding) are residents of La Ciudad de la Noche, but first names can be of any origin. Also, English is The Empire's language, and learning a new language is forbidden, again with the exception of La Ciudad de la Noche, where children are often taught foreign languages first and don't learn English until they're about ten, and the adults who stubbornly refuse to learn English are relocated there.
6. This is going to be sort of low casual, as I strongly believe in quality over quantity. However, decent spelling and grammar is expected.
7. Have fun!
The cities are as follows. If you want to know more about a city or cities, just ask me here on the forums for a specific question or PM for a more broad description of the culture and customs of the city. Also, if there's a city you think we need, do to be afraid suggest it.

If I have some people interested, I'll put up a CS so you can start making ideas. And remember, no idea is a bad one, because not all ideas are built when you first encounter it.
