Either RolePlayerGuild.com is glitching, or everyone is studiously ignoring my PMs.

Forgot to write the freaking princess.

The golden-haired daughter of Alexander and Vera Dragan. Trained in the fine arts and raised to high standards, the girl would have been the very model of nobility were it not for her penchant for getting into trouble. Her sarcastic wit has won her many friends and enemies alike, and her passionate affections made more lovers than she ever dared let meet her parents. It is thus no surprise to anyone that Abraxas set his sights on her. What nobody knew was why, because for all the lip and banter she poured out on a daily basis, she kept her true thoughts close to her heart and held many, many secrets...
Establishing major NPC characters. Some are getting renamed.

This is no deranged, half-crazed beast. This is a fully sapient, highly intelligent, absurdly powerful dragon. Born of the dust to defend humanity a thousand years ago, he once stood as our most ardent protector. Now, he has become mankind's most deadly opponent. He harbors a particular hatred for knights, and hunts them with relentless abandon. Thus far, no one has been able to work out his motive - or if they have, they aren't telling, and Abraxas seems to revel in the fact.

Like the other Guardians, Caradhras was born of the dust to defend humanity during the Apocalypse War. Vast, powerful, and well-versed in the ways of men, he serves as a ward against all but the most dire threats to humanity. Kings from all around the world make pilgrimages to his lair in Magmoor Volcano, where they test their mettle against his mind and magic. He, in turn, selects the leaders of the world through rigorous testing of their resolve, and only the best can pass his discerning eye.

King of Drakengard and ruler of all the Untainted, he was personally chosen by Caradhras to lead humankind with a firm yet gentle hand. He's also one of the finest swordsmen this side of Aion. His national policy is "Stay the Course," in which he promotes economic stability by minimizing changes to the country's laws. As a result, citizens are generally free to do what they like. The king used to be a wandering knight who took all kinds of quests, ranging from the mundane to the glorious. One day, he took a quest from a beautiful silver-haired lady who asked him to challenge the dragon Caradhras. He did, and returned with the Sovereign Sword in hand before marrying the lady who gave him the quest. The man made a point of being a father to his children, sometimes even forgoing important official duties to spend time with them. He knew many a soul whose father was absent, and he didn't want his own children to go through that.

If ever there was a more mysterious woman, you won't find one on Aion. With her unique silver-white hair, discerning eyes, and carefree demeanor, people often have difficulty deciding whether Alexander's beautiful queen is exactly as young as she looks, or far older than she appears. Her ears, though pointed, are not long, which means she is no elf despite her inhuman features. Alexander relies on her more than most people realize, and though he is the public face of the country, Vali handles most of the busywork that makes the country tick. She also takes her role as Queen Mother very seriously, and refuses to let hired hands raise her children in her place despite the growing burdens placed on her shoulders. Every prince and princess of Drakengard owes their upbringing to her.
Me too. Weekend's here finally, so I can finally sit down and finish things up. I think I finally figured out how I'm going to write the OP, too. If all goes well and I don't get roped into too many time-consuming family events at home, I'll try to get the OP out tonight.
As I worked on the OP, I realized several important NPC characters needed reworking. So I'm tackling a good bit of lore at the moment. Sit tight, everyone.
Y-Yes, I totally meant to do that!

starts taking notes

Seriously tho, thanks for the tips.
Currently writing a bit of poetry for the OP. Got the first verse down.

Also mulling over how best to start the RP. I have a few ideas in mind; feel free to make suggestions.
* Start off in a tavern, traditional DnD style. Pro: easy peasy. Con: boring doring. Doesn't fit very well with knights anyway.
* Start off meeting the king. Pro: makes sense for knights. Con: I suck at writing grandieur. I need to nail the intro, or it'll ruin the mood.
* Start off by giving each PC a custom invitation to a private conference with the king or the first prince. Pro: moderate difficulty, sets the mood. Con: takes a while to bring everyone together.
* Start off with the dragon's surprise attack on Drakengard. Pro: we get to start with a fight scene, and watch the princess get captured. Con: Batteries Sold Separately - giving it emotional charge of any sort could prove tough, as well as justifying why everyone is in one place.

I've got my work cut out for me. :P
@Pie Flavor That works. :)
im actually gonna make my character from a nearby allied country, because shes a viscount
just sayin

The people of Aion do not organize their nobility quite like a true medieval people would, because the system is not actually feudal. It's actually much closer to a republic. In the feudal system, a noble lord owns the land, and peasants live on it. On Aion, land is dirt-cheap (pun intended), if there's a price on it at all, and it's accessible to everyone, so anybody can own land. Noble lords simply rule over the lands assigned to them. The ranks and their duties are as follows:
* Lord: rules over a village
* Count: rules over a city/county
* Duke: rules over a province
* King: rules over a country

There are a few other meaningless titles offered too, like Archduke and Viscount, but the four listed above are the only ones with any real power. The nobility have sovereign dominion over their respective territories except where explicitly stated in the Constitution.
Compendium of Magical Creatures

I may add to this over time.

Ancient
Oft depicted in engravings and cave art as humanoids, these beings are thought to be extinct in the world of Aion, and as such are highly mysterious. Some say they are gods wielding immense miraculous powers. Others say they are just like us, but more knowledgeable. Whatever the case, the things they left behind hold the power to change the world forever...for better or for worse.

Goblin
While it is speculated that many of the creatures on this world were made by the Ancients, only one has been confirmed - and a particularly nasty group of creatures at that. About a few hundred years ago, a powerful Warlock discovered ancient texts locked away in a low-security vault containing genetic design templates. When he followed them, he created a creature that was weak, short, and ugly. At first, he thought they were useless, but he soon discovered that disposing of them was unusually difficult. They were hardy little things that evolved rapidly to their environments, and were just smart enough to learn how to survive. He started breeding them en masse for his own purposes, and the rest is history.

Mooshroom
A cow-like animal that grows mushrooms on its back. The mushrooms are toxic to most predators, but curiously nutritious for the four major races.

Squirel
No, not squirrel. Derived from the term "squire," a squirel is a larger, long-eared relative with sharper defensive instincts (hence the name). Centuries of being hunted has made them wary of humanoids.

Demihuman
A crossbreed with human and animalian features. Minotaurs, centaurs, fauns, vampires, and such like all fall into this category. Their unique ability is Genetic Recombination, with which they can breed with any other species and produce offspring with combined traits. While this allows them to breed quickly and adapt to almost anything, it also results in a large number of offspring with detrimental traits, and many die off as a result.

Dragon
Not to be confused with drakes, wyverns, or wyrms, this species of Great Lizard is distinguished by its four legs and two wings. Only three dragons exist on Aion: Caradras, Talrei, and Neridian. Each one is a gargantuan beast that can grow to the size of a city, though they can change their size by controlling how much (or how little) they eat. They fought to defend humanity during the Apocalypse War, and we all owe our continued existence to these valiant creatures. The Fire Dragon Caradras lives in Magmoor volcano in Riftgard, the Water Dragon Talrei lives in the northern ice cap, and the Thunder Dragon Neridian lives in Ispar.
