Aw man, looking back at what I missed is strangely sparse. On a side-note, I'm not actually a big MMO guy, I understand the basics and most of the terminology of raid-style play, like, a tank is basically supposed to aggro the mobs and take damage and be healed, but it's difficult for me to further elaborate on a tank's detailed actions in a battle. For reference, when I did play WoW, it was for about a week, and I was a back-up DPS on a private server, so.... any tips or pointers, guys and gals?

P.S. #ThankYouLilli!
Tyranus - Tolbana Theater - Floor 1

Tyranus felt the change in her attitude after she realized her misstep in being condescending. She eased up, and started prattling on about her experiences in Aincrad before the official launch. Of the beta testers, she had to be in the lower percentiles. All the stories Tyranus had heard involved these guys fighting bosses with comparatively reckless abandon, just like other MMO's, where dying meant waiting a few seconds before respawning. It wouldn't be like that now, it couldn't be. He reached the same assumption that she finished with, that the stakes might not have been the only thing that changed from beta to release.

What came next was a brief lapse in everything Tyranus had seen before, the girl grew solemn and cold for a second. He saw something almost fleeting and he felt that behind whatever mask she wore for all these other people, he'd caught a glimpse of the face behind it all. Only for a second, and not long enough to consider it a serious event, but he now knew that like so many others she was putting on a facade for the sake of others. It was because of this that he couldn't be offended when she assumed he couldn't pronounce her name after listening to it, but whatever, he'd play along, and try and keep spirits up as well.

"Did you say Hickory? That's a bit odd, but hey, that's alright. I didn't think they had hickory trees in Japan though?" he anticipated more than a bit of frustration, and quickly followed up, "I'm just pullin' yer leg, Hikari. I just thought you could use some humor. Anyway, I'm Tyranus, I don't mind however you say it, and it's been nice meeting you." He grinned the whole time, hoping it would lessen any repercussions against him or his face. "Anyhow, I think I'm just going to wait here for everyone to come back, since I assume they'll use this as a rally point before heading out. Feel free to join me or to go, if you like. This would be a good day for a nap. It's beautiful out here." Where the stone recess of the amphitheater met the grass, Tyranus laid down once more, staring up into the blue sky, thinking: 'After all, if I die today, shouldn't I enjoy these last few hours?'
Sorry for being MIA yesterday, I'm working now to put myself in position for the big fight.

E: And done. A pinch of humor, a dash of drama, and a whole dose of exposition setup.
Not what I expected, but I ran with it. Also, I'll probably be out for the rest of the day. It's my best friend's birthday and he's got Cards Against Humanity.

Tyranus was caught off guard to say the least. He didn't quite get the reaction he expected. She didn't respond directly to him immediately, first she fell to the dirt and started rolling around. Laughing uncontrollably for some reason or another, and mumbling to herself in between chuckles after that. From everything he heard he picked out she was laughing at his accent. He knew she wasn't American, she didn't look it, so he wasn't sure why he didn't expect this reaction. Oh well, Tyranus couldn't think of a reason to be offended, he happened to like the way he talked, but for the sake of keeping this girl out of hysteria, he figured he should tone it down a bit from now on.

It wasn't until she'd been rolling around for a solid minute that she considered she might've been exposing herself. Tyranus wasn't even looking, even though she assumed this and started yelling at him. That's what got his attention. She started using words he'd never heard before and he decided this confirmed that she wasn't American, and he'd heard enough European to rule that out too. Well it was information, that'd help. Before he noticed this he had been occupied scanning the players that were still lingering around the theater, but none of them were were close enough for him to pick up new information with his perception skills. He'd need to work on those.

After she'd barked at him a couple times Tyranus decided it'd be prudent to pay a bit closer attention, to what she was saying. She rambled on about him looking at her and what he should and shouldn't do, and eventually she threatened to leave him high and dry. "Look, kid, I wasn't taking a peek, so calm down. Relax. What I was doing, was looking at all of these other folk that have the same information you do, and statistically speaking, there's probably two or three beta testers that have a bit more info, so you're not exactly in any position to be bargaining," Tyranus replied to all her concerns in earnest. He knew there were others that could be as helpful, but he didn't exactly feel like tracking them down and convincing them. He really hoped that she'd just take him serious and cut out the 'funny business.'

If you like Ubisoft's other open-world games, e.g. Far Cry and Assassin's Creed series, this is basically another one of those but with some awesome mechanics. If you find a deal snatch it up for sure. I had to infiltrate a ctOS server building yesterday and I hacked in without ever going into the guarded zone. I used an impromptu series of distractions and jumping between cameras to get the access codes and hack in, and when I finished I just turned around and walked off. It...was...so cool.

And sleep well, the world of humiliating Tyranus is your oyster when you return.

To him it was a quiet buzz, several players moving back and forth between groups, if they hadn't already grouped up and left yet. Tyranus knew that if he wanted to get out, he had to go up, and if he was going to go up, he needed to be in one of these groups. But what to do? He thought briefly about actually approaching someone, but judging the body language of a few of those nearby, he'd be approached soon.

Being honest with himself, he figured it would actually be a long-shot if anyone bothered the six-foot American, but one player lived up to his expectations and was making strides to interrupt his peaceful sit. She was short, but most people were short to him, and her most striking characteristic was her hair. It landed sharply somewhere on the edge between blonde and orange, but that could just be the light from where Tyranus sat. She seemed bright, almost literally, Sam was already cracking jokes in his head. He thought about how funny it was that people make impressions even before they open their mouths, and how true that still was in a world of digital fantasy. "Oi! pal,..." she made a crack about him sitting around on the ground looking a bit like an ass, in fewer words, but he understood. "Still need a partner, eh? I'll be merciful..." Merciful? Hah, she was a comedian too. It didn't matter, he'd seen evidence of her boyish 'charms' in her posture. Oof, and in her forward attitude and projected comfort with physicality.

Well it was settled then, Tyranus spoke up with a deep voice that meandered much in the same way he did on a lazy afternoon, "Well ain't you a ray of sunshine?" He grinned his sideways grin, and batted his eyes. "You look like you know your way 'round, and I missed the whole dern meeting. So I suppose I can accept your kindness," Tyranus stood to look down at the girl, "Thank ya, cutie," he finished with his grin still lingering. "Where to now?" he followed up quickly, without a hint of a care in all the world.
I get distracted by a little Watch_Dogs and *bam*, life events! Cue the cliche advice: have fun and be yourself when hanging out.

Also, Pyro, I apologize for effectively paralyzing you for a few hours. I tried to just do a little sightseeing in near-future virtual-Chicago to clear my head, and then wham, it's been hours and I still hadn't finished the reply I promised. I know, I'm a terrible person.
Well, yay me! Now to think of a proper response.
I usually agonize over the first post more than the others, it's the same as a first impression.
