Oops, was super busy yesterday, sorry D: I've been pretty occupied with school and there's a jazz concert this week so I had quite a bit of rehearsal and reading to take care of. Sorry for making you miss the sunset bonus :(
Charlotte looked up from her bagel. “Hey, Jason, what's--” she said, flashing a tight-lipped smile (it wasn’t polite to open your mouth with food in it and she was quite certain that Jason did not want to see her half-chewed bagel). She paused, swallowed the bagel, and said, "What's up?" Charlotte scooted over a bit to give Jason a little more room to wait comfortably for the bus. She went over her notes about the Pokémon population of Stillwater again, checked her watch, and looked back towards Jason. “Gonna be a bit ’til the bus comes, eh?”
She patted Charjabug on the head, then turned back to Jason. “So what do y’all at Legendwatch do? Are there just physiological or behavioral differences between what folks know as ‘Legendary Pokémon,’ or somethin’ else entirely?” Charlotte twiddled her thumbs. “Like for instance, some Sinnoh myths say that Giratina lived in a world not of our own. Pretty well-known story. Like, does its body composition and all that have to change when it comes to our world?”
She thought for a second. “Say, do you think you’d consider the Ultra Beasts to be legendary Pokémon? I’m sure you read about the… incident involving the Alola branch a while back. LIGHTING… BLASTER… ABSORPTION… All those Beasts lost in a dimension outside of their own. Kinda like that Giratina story if you ask me. Maybe they’re just lost Pokémon that are pretty common where they’re from?” She shrugged. “On the other hand, Aether reports state that they are extremely strong…”
Charlotte paused. “Rambled on for a bit there,” she remarked. “I just like talking about Pokémon a lot.” She chuckled. “Fascinating creatures, they are.”
The Shuppets scattered wildly, some toppling to the ground due to the strength of the Dragon Rage (probably the most overpowered move in the early game).
The Porygon-Z began to spasm as three orbs of energy appeared around it, firing erratically at its assailants. One orb hit one of the Conkeldurrs, badly poisoning it. Thankfully, that Conkeldurr had the Guts ability, so it was only more furious as it swung its concrete pillars around to Knock Off the Shuppets.
"Skorupi, help those Conkeldurrs," Juana ordered. The scorpion Pokémon skittered up the back of the other Conkeldurr, jumping on its concrete slab, and reaching out to nip a Shuppet with its mandibles.
Juana focused her attention back to Porygon-Z; its colors flashed again, signaling another Conversion attack. It was now a dark green. It was able to bear the whirlpool, which meant...
"It's a Grass type now!" Juana called. "Steenee, enough with the Razor Leaves! Rotom, back in the toaster!"
Rotom sparked and zipped through the air, before taking control of the toaster oven once more. Its eyes blinked open, and its electric mitts rubbed together in glee.
"Rotom, attack!" Juana shouted.
Rotom floated into the air and strafed side to side, firing off miniature thunderbolts to dizzy the Porygon-Z's attention. Rotom, with a flash, appeared directly over the eye of the whirling vortex.
Rotom's door opened up, and from the heat coils belched a 430°F inferno hot enough to bake a toaster pastry... and a digital Pokémon.
Meanwhile, the Shuppets were scattering, panicked, fleeing the sound of the roaring Growlithe and Shinx. Honedge, too, was warding them off, but it was beginning to show signs of tire. It was using Shadow Sneak so many times in a row, after all, and there were a lot of Shuppets.
Porygon-Z came out of the Overheat attack singed, but it wasn't done yet. It flashed and turned a gleaming silver - Steel type. Rotom was too tired to let out another burst of flame, and Porygon-Z caught it in mid-air with a Thunderbolt. Juana ran to catch Rotom.
"Shoot, I don't have anything to hit that guy with," Juana muttered, calling Rotom back to its ball.
"Legendwatch? Hmm, okay, cool. Legendary Pokémon are pretty interesting, though in the end, a Pokémon's a Pokémon, huh?" Charlotte remarked. "What we make of 'em, I suppose depends on what we think, where we come from, all that."
As Jason left, Charlotte waved. "Yeah, probably see you 'round." She then turned to walk to the Poké Mart; she purchased a Poké Ball just in case she had to capture anything. Then, she started towards the bus station.
"The number seven..." Charlotte mused. "Man, I really gotta get myself one of those fancy folding bikes you can fit in a bag."
The buses' routes were clearly labeled, and Charlotte had a bit of time to spare before the scheduled departure time. She decided to buy a bagel while she was at the station.
Charlotte sat down at one of the benches with the bagel in her lap. She unwrapped the bagel, tore off a bit, and handed the piece to Charjabug. The bug ate it in a couple snaps of its silvery mandibles.
"It's pretty funny, those buses look kind of like you do," Charlotte remarked, poking Charjabug. Charjabug looked at the buses, and couldn't help but note the similarity. Charjabug turned back up towards Charlotte and nodded, giving an accordion-like hum in response.
Being last in the posting order makes it kind of difficult to write a lot. I'll suck it up for now, but I'm mostly having to end up either following orders (Hapu was literally ordered to just follow Samus) or hanging back because sending in a melee horse-monster after ballistic explosives would probably result in a whole lot of horse guts and a useless character (given the Dark-Souls difficulty level). There are probably workarounds to this so I'll try to think more about that. I'd just like to apologize for the relatively poor quality of my posts.
Tomoe easily saw the knife coming; she had dealt with countless knives in her training, and deflected the weapon with ease using her guard naginata. However, what she did not expect was the purported client being used as heavy artillery and thrust upon her with enough force to cause her to buckle and crumple to the ground. Tomoe yelled out, a sharp pain shooting up her left leg. Damn it! she thought, for King Azure surely was not any better off than she; she did her best to stand upright, but buckled a bit, for although she could shield herself from any bad damage to her bones, the blow had caused her to fall the wrong way and thus sprain her leg.
Despite this, she ignored the pain, though she was standing with a visible limp. Hopefully a healer could get to her in time, but she had to defend the king at all costs. She assumed a defensive stance, and stared down the warrior.
"The seven, huh?" Charlotte asked. "Alright. Thanks. Hey, might I ask, what's bringing you to the old fishery, huh?"
Charlotte deduced that a brush with a wild fire Pokémon of some sort accounted for Jason's grunge, though she did not want to pry.
"I myself am studying the ecosystems in a habitat that's not too affected by urbanization," Charlotte added. "Evidently the bus I gotta get on leaves in about an hour. Maybe we'll run into each other again, I dunno. Just in case though, I'm Charlotte. Charlotte Carver. I'm with the Aether." She politely tipped her bowler hat.
Some might brush her off if she said that, but helping restore the Foundation's reputation in other regions had to start somewhere, right?
Level: 1 Day/Time: Day One; Evening Location: Kingdom of Erion - Raganival, Abandoned Castle Tag: Luigi @Bright_Ops, Samus @Lmpkio, James [@Varkun] Mention: General Brigan, Oswald @Holy Soldier
WC: 311
Just as the team's firepower came crashing down upon the Pooka, none other than the Shadow Knight himself stepped from the abyss and protected the Pooka, giving her orders to protect Gwendolyn at all costs. Hapu looked stoically up at Oswald; certainly the knight was a dangerous foe, and yet Hapu conceded that there was something noble in the way he faced down Brigan. She noted the fact that the High Horsepower attack stunned Oswald long enough for Brigan to land a hit.
Evidently, Brigan and Oswald both felt very strongly towards the demon lord Odin; however, overhearing their conversation, Hapu confirmed the heroes' status as a mere means to an end for the barbaric general, and evidently Brigan intended to dispatch them before day's end. So the general's poor character was not just a minor flaw; indeed, it would perhaps spell doom for this world. Hapu had no intention of allowing Mudsdale to become glue. This was no time to voice suspicions, however; the ring needed attending to, and while Luigi and James were battling Oswald, Samus and she were to search the castle for the princess. A good plan; this would assure Luigi more time to assess Brigan's motives while the other half of the team actually retrieved the ring.
"As you wish," Hapu called to Luigi. Samus was already preparing to take off. Hapu hiked up her baggy pants and dashed to her mount.
"Mudsdale, follow Samus," Hapu said, climbing on her horse. The Pokémon wasn't fast, but it was enough to keep up with Samus. Mudsdale broke into a gallop, its tired eyes focusing on Samus's back. "We will have to secure the ring as quickly as possible," Hapu stated. "Doing so will give us ample time to formulate an effective plan, especially considering the troubling statements the Shadow Knight made on the subject of our ally."
