Name: Domagoj (the name is
Croatian but it seemed fitting, can change if desired)
Sex: Male
Age: 68
Patron: Dyvella - The Healer, the Goddess of Mercy
Appearance:An tall thin, bony old man. He seems frail, and moves slowly. His movements are sure and steady all the same. His hands are soft, and nimble, his skin darkened by the sun, his face lined with time and joy. His skin is a tawny brown, and seems to be stretched over his bony frame, almost to the splitting point. His teeth are crooked, and yellow, but most are still with him even when few his age can boast more than half dozen teeth left in their mouths. His eyes are keen, piercing, and they miss little enough, within an ever smaller radius, though they bear a bright sparkle when he smiles and laughs. Often wears a loose, thin robe belted with beads, over a simple loin cloth.
Personality:He says little, unless working his arts, but even then he often just pulls a tonic or herbal mixture from his shelves and sends his patient away with a wave of his hand and grunt of dismissal. He loves to teach the little ones and watches them at play whenever he can spare the time too, which is handy when they have an accident that needs his attention. He is old and tired though, and it is nearly time for a new healer to be appointed, but he's not ready to pass from this world just yet.
Background:A long time member of the clan, his family was usually in good standing, some of his ancestors being warriors, others healers, others craftsmen, all good, but none particularly spectacular at their given skill. Domagoj, is the first in a very long time in his family to be appointed to the council, he takes this very seriously. He rarely gives a quick response, and is even less frequently found to have chosen poorly, when he finally answers.
He studied the tribe's history, and the healing arts, for which he has a rare gift. He spent his youth listening to his elders as often as he played with his peers, and then it was more than he played, as he grew. He wasn't weak, but he clearly wouldn't ever be a warrior, even from a young age this was apparent, yet his mind was quick and inquisitive, more than making up for his lack of physical aptitude. He has learned many histories of the clan, many recent, several ancient. Though he does not have the voice of a story keeper, so he was not considered seriously by his teachers as a potential historian and keeper of the clan's culture. Instead it was his healing skills that seemed to shape him as he grew, though as one fool found out, his particular skill, herbs and primitive medicines, could do as much harm as good.
Domagoj rarely gets involved in clan politics, it's bad policy for a healer to choose favorites in the clan. So devoted to his studies was Domagoj, that he never took a wife, an oddity in the clan to be sure, though none have dared to say anything to his face, for fear that he might hold a grudge later when they need his help.
Personal Goals:He wants to be the best healer he can, making sure his clan rebounds from any ailment, physical or otherwise, so that they few of them still alive can have hope that the Exodus won't end in the clan's eradication. It's not been an easy job, but he's done well so far, and now the exodus is over, he works to be sure that the clan has the best chance of establishing itself in the area he can. He desperately wants to see the clan in a strong dwelling again, projecting power and wealth from a well defended city. He knows this is unlikely, but is hopeful that he may yet get a glimpse of it.
Clan Goals:Domagoj seeks to help the clan prosper and thrive, he understands that difficult choices must be made, and that some must suffer for the sake of the clan, but he seeks to minimize the suffering of the clan, trying to maintain a positive, hopeful outlook in the clan, knowing that despair is the most potent poison. He dreams of the clan being a powerful player in the region as they once were, but how the clan goes about doing that, he will let the younger members decide, though he will try to guide them towards the routes most likely to succeed in the long term.
Estate:A small cave on the outskirts of town, near an elaborate shrine to Dyvella. The cave has many niches carved into the walls, all full of various healing reagents and totems. One niche, larger than the rest contains a mat of reeds and pine needles, on which he sleeps. it also holds his blow darts and straw, when he's not up and about. Usually, the straw and a pouch of darts sit in their designated pockets in his robe as he wanders around.
