Welcome to the Federal News Network. This is your host Tyba Botowoi.
“Good day viewers and indeed welcome.”
“In an astounding announcement today, Councillor Feru Ma Nemi of the Kerilata system resigned her post in the Federation parliament after her ‘Bogoti Social Party’ lost the Kerilata system’s local elections against the ‘United Reformation Front’ of her chief competitor, the local business man Deraku Va Korta.”
“Councillor Ma Nemi explained her actions in a very short press event with the following statement: ‘I cannot pretend to represent the will of my people when I do not possess their support.’”
“While certainly understandable, this move leaves the Kerilata system without a voice in the Federal parliament, at least until a new representative is chosen and approved by the Chairman and her election comity.”
“URF leader, Deraku Va Korta has already stepped forward as a candidate for councillor, further citing that ‘Miss Ma Nemi desires to undermine the position of the new Kerilata government by stripping them of a Federal voice, but that the URF will not be bullied and take immediate action.’”
“In other news, the infamous terrorist Kokar Opi has been sentenced to lifelong imprisonment in the maximum security ‘Alca Ring’ orbital facility around the gas giant Alca in the Baratho system.”
“Opi has claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Melathak Federal Building on Maro last year, killing five and injuring fourteen others as well as a score of other incidents including the murder of Federal Navy veteran and mother of five, Asai No Mithra three years past.”
“Remarkably, several dozen individuals appeared at the Courthouse in Maro Matha at the conclusion of the trial to support what they call ‘a hero for a free and independent Maro’. These individuals then proceeded to harass the security personnel of the courthouse as well as the families of Opi’s victims after which all were promptly detained. Seven of those, have now officially been charged with criminal harassment.”
“In our final story, famous actress Mop Vossi has announced she will be releasing her very first music video later this month. While the star of the erotic drama ‘Passions on Red Sands’ and the romantic comedy ‘my three husbands’ certainly has a voice that carries well on screen, many remain sceptical that she can also make it in the radically different music scene.”
“’Only time will tell.’ To quote her most famous line from Sands.”
“That was it for now, we will return in seven hours with more news including the results of the presently ongoing Hand Egg match between the Toraval Rovers and the Muki Deliverers. Until then, this was Tyba Botowoi, signing off.”

(*Intercepted Low level encrypted Military communication.)
From: Admiral Fodo Bu Moko, commander, fifth fleet.
To: High-admiral Miso Go Diras, commander in chief, Federation Navy.
Greetings High-Admiral,
You will be pleased to know that the relays have been secured against any form of attack. Any alien wishing to enter the Federation home sector will first have to contend with the dreadnaughts of the fifth fleet.
However, we have intercepted several potential alien communication sources during our recent scouting runs through the rest of the relay network. Details of these will be sent to you personally by means of grade five encrypted burst transmissions.
As per your direct orders, contact with the aliens will be avoided at all times.
On a more personal note: my best wishes for the birth of your second grandchild. May the little one be healthy and strong.
Your loyal servant and friend,
Admiral Fodo Bu Moko.

Summary: The Kimo sit securely in their relatively isolated home sector and keep the only mass relay leading into it locked down tightly. They are however conducting military reconnaissance missions throughout the network and have found signs of activity by other races.
In their home sector, there appears to be slight political unrest in one of their minor systems (Kerilata) and in one of their major systems (Maro) a suppression campaign against small rebel groups has been concluded with the capture of one of their leaders (the ‘terrorist’ Kokar Opi)
