Intercepted private recording.
*static* “…Ok… right, test test… Ok.”
“This is the personal audio log of Ami Dikari, Maintenance technician for Tsoni institute field team 5, recording on alien world A-623-2.”
*loud breath*
“Ok so this is day 5 of our operation here. Now I haven’t made one of these since back when we were on the ship over here so this might be an extra-long one. The reason for this is mainly that we’ve been so damn busy installing all the equipment and prefabs that we haven’t had any time for ourselves until now… we’re pretty set up here now and have most of our buildings up, quite the sight if I can say so. We’ve got a small city here really, there being 500 of us here at the main site and about a hundred or so more at the various outer posts. Oh and that’s not mentioning the 200 marines they have protecting us here… security is tight what with that alien ship that attacked our surveyor a while ago. There’s a cruiser and four frigates in orbit as well as that massive marine detachment down here and those guys have drones to do patrols and hunt down anything dumb enough to try and get at us over land. I’ve seen them unload at least two of those big high altitude recon drones and they have at least a hundred little scouts hovering all around the place. As soon as those guys spot a threat they’ll have the gun drones and those cool miniature gunships pound the crap out of it… Anyways, we’re safe here. But this planet!”
*Excited breath*
“Oh by Mitha the planet! It’s gorgeous. There’s green everywhere and all manner of wondrous creatures about. One species in particular is really a sight… they’re about the size of a person when you see them but really they’re just bags of gas. They float about and just eat greenery so they’re harmless but still fascinating. Our biology division is already studying them. And then there’s the ruins. We’ve only been here for a few days but our people have already unearthed a large part of what used to be a massive spire habitat. The aliens that lived in them were about twice our size judging from the size of the halls and rooms but were bipedal just like us. They called this world ‘Aedan Praime’ [*Eden Prime*] or words of that pronunciation if the researchers are to be believed. They found a partially intact document you see, a tourist guide of sorts. 95% of it was corrupted over time but the bits and pieces that remained have already yielded the locations of at least three other settlements… That’s not even the best of it. I’ve overheard some of the scientists talking and they said this may very well be the mythical world mentioned in ‘the Shepard’ where the Oomanity [*humanity*-*human*] race first encountered the great evil. If that is true then this is a great discovery indeed! Maybe the Federation will authorise a colony to be built here. The first past the home relay… Anyone living here would have to wear warm clothing though. I mean the atmosphere is perfectly breathable but it’s quite cold here… only 5 degrees Gikka! [*24°C*]
*distant sound of a PA system*
“…I have to go now. The marines need help hooking those big laser guns on the perimeter up to our power grid. I’ll definitely make more logs in the future.*
*from slightly farther away*
“Ami Dikari signing off!”

Base Level Military communication. Encryption level two. (Intercepted by Seraphians and Shan)
From: Fifth fleet second Stealth Reconnaissance Group. (SRG-2)
To: Fifth fleet central command.
Message: Seraphian internal conflict rapidly devolving into civil war. Scientists at odds about wether or not Federation military forces should intervene and act as peacekeepers.
Alien presence in system intensifying. Possible war between competing races, scientists fear conflict may severely impact native Seraphian population. Minority are advocating Federation space blockade to prevent alien troops from landing. Please advise on new course of action.
Response: Continue current mission according to set parameters. Federation military intervention is deemed impossible due to increased alien presence. Low level sentient species isn’t deemed strategically valuable enough to risk war with one or more galactic powers.
Summary: The Kimo have established an archaeological operation on Eden Prime and continue to excavate the Human ruins there. The intercepted message also reveals that a Kimo surveyor came under attack at some point in the recent past though by whom and why remains unclear. Additionally, the message also unknowingly details most of the defences the Kimo have in place.
In another sector of the Galaxy, Kimo scouts have discovered a Krall battlegroup likely stationed to defend or strike against the Shan. The Shan have intercepted the message but the Krall remain unaware of their discovery.
In the Seraphian civil war, the Kimo remain neutral. They consider any action safe for quietly monitoring the situation to be too risky.
