So here I go.
Name: Noriko Misaki
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Magecraft / Abilities: As far as magic goes, Misaki has little capacity in that regard. Possessing the prana capabilities of a sub-par magus, and having no formal schooling in regards to magecraft, the Holy Grail War, or even the Magic Association, Misaki has literally no idea what she’s doing in this war. That having been said, she is not a bumbling idiot. Possessing a sharp, analytical mind and senses honed from her profession, Misaki makes due with cunning and wit what she lacks in power and strength. Misaki isn’t completely booksmart, having acquired average grades all throughout high school, but her instinct and common sense are highly-tuned, and have served her when physical capabilities and marksmanship weren’t enough.
Given that she is employed in the city of Fuyuki as a detective, it goes without saying that she is very talented at what she does. Legwork, information gathering, undercover work, marksmanship on occasion, and overall physical fitness are some of her main capabilities. Misaki also has the resources of the police department at her fingertips, although within reason; too much misuse of such powers and blatant disregard for the laws would ultimately backfire on her.
Being a detective, Misaki has taken it upon herself to learn self-defense moves that weren’t required by her department, believing it to be the difference between life and death. Possessing a hefty knowledge in Judo and Aikido, but a master in neither, Misaki can handle herself quite well against most untrained assailants.
Possessing average magical capacity, her affinity is for bullets. Having been chosen as a Master and probably not possessing enough prana to power her Servant to their utmost, and liably because her summoning won't be 100% kosher, her Servant would be hindered because of her lacking in that department, suffering a deduction to their stats, although the specifics are not certain.
Misaki is a master video gamer and a complete otaku. When it comes to anime or video games, she gets completely immersed, and she is a very talented gamer because of this. This skill’s importance to the War, however, is non-existent.
Appearance: Visually, Misaki can be described as incredibly average. Her nose is slightly hooked in shape, with small ever-so-slightly upward-facing nostrils. Her eyes are a mundane brown colour and tilted slightly down towards her nostrils, and her cheek bones are high and her eyes averagely set. Her hair is cut-short and is a dark black, not going past her ears save for at the nape of her neck. Misaki doesn’t tend to wear makeup, despite the boons it would grant to her appearance.
Standing a moderately tall 5’8”, with average shoulders and an unimpressive curvature to her body, she has muscles that aren’t so toned as to scream “fitness freak,” but it is obvious at a glance that she is in shape. Misaki wears a pair of slim-framed glasses, whose presence are questionable as to whether or not they are required for her vision, but they remain on her face, nonetheless.
Equipment:
Personal Handgun – Given that she is a detective, Misaki has a license to carry her firearm concealed from sight yet ready to be brought out at a moment’s notice. Given her inclination to wear pant-suits, this is often concealed by the blazer she tends to wear, as the holster is a full torso contraption that actually houses two guns. Given that she rarely gets into shoot-outs, however, Misaki is only proficient at quick-drawing with her main-hand, which is the left. Both guns are quite easy for her to access with either hand.
When she fires, however, she is quite skilled with either hand, and doubly so when given the opportunity to assume the appropriate stance. Her main and side firearm that are frequently carried while she’s on the job are a pair of SIG Sauer P220s, although she has an eccentric collection of handguns at her home that include eccentric variants that, while aesthetically pleasing, are generally not as serviceable as the ones she normally carries.
Kevlar Vest – Misaki has taken a few bullets in her time, and she only yet draws breath because they happened to catch on the bullet-proof vest concealed underneath her clothing. Because of this, Misaki has taken to wearing this at nearly all times because of her paranoia. This vest is not good, however, at deflecting more archaic weaponry, such as the pointy end of a spear or the length of a blade, or the head of an arrow.
Balisong – Being a detective, Misaki can pretty much take along any sort of equipment she pleases while she’s on the job; within reason. Given that toting around a fully-automated heavy machine gun would generally be frowned upon by society at large, Misaki supplements her possession of dual pistols with an eccentric, fanciful knife that she has nicked herself many a time playing with. It is fully functional, however, and aside from when she’s trying to perform tricks with it, Misaki is quite talented with it.
Lockpicking Set – Misaki has done some things as a detective that some people might consider morally ambiguous; however, they were all within the name of justice, or so she keeps telling herself, and while she sometimes has had to resort to less savoury techniques in order to bring her perpetrator to their deserved fate, she always had the clearest of intentions in mind.
Connections – While not particularly an object per se, Misaki’s connections would be more than capable of serving her well in the upcoming war. She possesses connections with the Police Department and the media. Unlike some of her fellows in the police department, Misaki does not often consort with criminals, but she does have her informants.
Glasses – They’re very stylish, and not required to improve her vision. They also happen to be bullet-proof, but considering they’re so narrow, she would have to be massively lucky for them to save her from losing an eye.
Personality: Misaki is motivated to do good, through and through. While she did not originally believe that the ends justified the means, her experience on the police force has taught her that in a society so bound by laws, that unless one plays the game just as well as those who would break them, then catching them is an inevitable impossibility. She refrains from breaking the law as much as possible, and will only do so if it were to directly save a life or prevent something terrible from transpiring.
Misaki is pretty much a loner; quiet, nonchalant, and calculating, she rarely says anything to strangers unless she feels it is required. Her presence is generally regarded as calming by those who consider her an ally, or unnerving by the criminals she has apprehended. Unfortunately, because she was naïve in her younger years, she was taken advantage of in a variety of ways.
Because of this, she has developed a wariness of other’s behaviours, as well as a dark, dry humour that she reveals only to those she regards as friends. Bitter and cynical at all times, Misaki, at her core, still clings to her idealistic dream that her actions will pave the way for a brighter future, and that she can save young folk who have no hope of salvation.
Misaki does not use her past as a crutch, and certainly doesn’t bring it up in idle conversation. Given that she is quick to dismiss most people, having learned not to form attachments over the years, Misaki is a very guarded individual, and her shell is near impossible to crack. Having no immediate living family, and no friends or associates beyond her coworkers, Misaki’s life can be considered to be lived solely for the sake of those she might one day save, although she is pragmatic enough to come up with solutions that do not require her to put herself in harm’s way – most of the times.
Misaki is not without her quirks, however, and loves a good video game, as it gives her a method of becoming someone without her perceived flaws and self-deprecating view. While certainly not important to the war, Misaki spends free time playing all varieties of video games and watching anime, being a pretty impressively closeted otaku. Preferring games that pertain to action and violence to romance, Misaki has a great deal of useless knowledge in such situations, coupled with her own personal experiences.
Misaki is also incredibly lazy when she’s not on duty, and entirely slobbish.
History: Noriko Misaki was born as an only child to a pair of office workers. Given that they valued work greatly, she had work ethics grilled into her from an early age. Misaki was a natural-born slacker, however, and was great at taking it easy. Throughout her education, Misaki was a below-average to average student, although she was above average in physical activity.
Misaki was frequently taken advantage of during her youth by distant relatives that lived nearby, an act which certainly influenced her growth. It was when the relatives responsible for such behaviour were brought to justice that Misaki decided to become a police officer, developing a stricter moral code, a lower self-esteem, and a strong sense of justice.
Misaki was an exceptional police officer for several years until she was raised to the position of Detective, possessing quick wit, a strong determination and the desire to see justice done. Several months have passed since she has become a detective. Cue the entrance of command spells. Or start of the war.
I'm totally writing her posts like a 1940's detective.
