Gonna have to drop this - I don't feel I have writing of a high enough quality. There's nothing coming out.

I won't allow this. I simply won't. You're gonna submit a damn sheet, you're gonna commit to the roleplay and you're gonna like it.
Heathen done pulled a Tyler. XP

It's interesting (for me) to note that Emory and Grace have both been featured in the media as a result of their powers, but for very different reasons. With Grace being so determined to change the image of Hyperhumans through her heroics, I wonder how she will respond to Emory's tendency to use his powers to live above the law.

How are you feeling about this, @Atrophy?
Ooh, hey, completely missed that there was a post in the IC up now. Whoo! Can we start posting? Or, still waiting to get more people?

Also, is there going to be a list of major NPCs for reference? I know I've seen Serena's name in a few apps and possibly in the OP, but, y'know, I like lists, and they're easier to look through.

I believe we're supposed to wait until we've a full cast. The last I heard, @Lord Wraith was going to post a second entry IC - as Zeke, rather than NPCs - to initiate the story's development. Perhaps we ought to wait for his clarification before making any moves.

EDIT: I also second that a list of important NPCs with brief bios would be beneficial to everyone, myself included.

While I can't answer for any other Minerva types, as I'm not sure about the brain thing, I can answer this as concerns Lucas. Yay for that fact. lol

As an organic that is, technically, not created by humans or shaped by them, Emory would not come across as an object to Lucas, much like any other living thing. He'd leave impressions and emotions in other objects though, same as everything else, from what I gather, but with the occasionally strange oozing sensation which Lucas would never have considered combined with emotions before. Though, for the most part, he'd leave much the same impressions as any other human.

The main reason Lucas would be surprised, upon first meeting Emory(and probably numerous subsequent times), is due to the fact that he isn't wearing actual clothing or shoes or whatever. As he's made all of that out of his own slime, it is also organic and not a man made object(at least, that's my take on it, given as I don't get the feeling that he's creating something out of the slime, just shaping it into the appearance of... If I'm wrong, whoops, but good to know).

So, since everything Emory's 'wearing' doesn't count as an object, it would come across to Lucas as completely silent. Which would be very weird given as he would be looking at things that ordinarily give off some sort of memory. And presumably he'd also be able to touch them, feel that they seem exactly like every other bit of cloth or shoe out there, but they just don't have any memories whatsoever. That would definitely be something that catches Lucas' attention without fail. Though Emory would have to pass within 10' of Lucas first.

I'm very much seeing invasion of space happening on Lucas' side of things. :P

That all makes a lot of sense, I like that approach. Thanks for explaining it; I feel that the characters will have a particularly interesting dynamic; Lucas unnerved by Emory's apparent nonexistence, Emory by Lucas' ability to easily unearth the secrets he's kept over the last five years. I'm very excited about him meeting Lucas in particular.
Hmmm, Lucas went to the PRCU from 1995-1999, which is probably not useful for anyone else. But since that time, he has been part of a few efforts H.E.L.P. has made towards research, development, and the occasional protection/enforcement. So, anyone who's kept up ties with H.E.L.P. might have a small history of acquaintanceship with him, provided they've been to Canada.... And anyone else they'd have had to have crossed paths within the last year.

It's possible, though probably rather far-fetched, that he might have come across memories of some individuals while traveling, Zeke being one of them, as the first direction Lucas went was cross Canada then down. If he did encounter Emory either physically or through a memory, he'd probably remember it and make much of any re-encounter. Simply because His Sliminess is an extremely strange phenomenon as far as he's concerned.

Gareth, he has probably never met at all, despite proximity.

Not sure about Marcus or Ilani.

I'm not sure how Emory will work along psychic types; I hadn't really considered it until it was brought up, but he doesn't really have a brain. (He's much like his creator, in that respect...) But whilst he lacks a brain in the traditional sense, he is still very much a sentient being that thinks, feels and the whatnot; it depends on how Minerva types work - do they interact with the brain, or with thoughts themselves? If the former, Emory may well be immune to psychic-based attacks.

Speaking particularly about Lucas, however, that raises further interesting questions, since his psychometry is touch-related. Emory's slime form is considered organic by my own terms, but it's also not a 'known' substance, it's unique to him. This makes me wonder whether he'd be immune to Lucas' prying touch, or whether the opposite would be true: would touching Emory act in the same way as touching an object, but with far more efficiency? Since he would essentially be coming into contact with a substance that had its own mind and thoughts, rather just ingrained memories.

I don't have a particular preference and I don't think it ultimately matters; the relationship between our characters promises to be an interesting dynamic that I'm really looking forward to. I'm just sort of tossing ideas around and raising questions, because I'm an antagonistic provocateur at the best of times and an [insert unsavoury words here] in the rest.

Perhaps @Lord Wraith has an opinion on how Em and Lucas/psychics in general would work.
So, who all is thinking their characters are starting with the convoy?

I think I've read a few histories that don't have the characters with them, but not sure.

Lucas is probably going to be part of the convoy, though how recently he's joined, I couldn't say. Yet. Must continue thinking about it. Also, yay for more information!

Emory's new to the convoy, for certain. However, I've been discussing that he has some historic connections to other members of the convoy, and I'm more than willing to establish similar relationships with others. He spent a good two years city-hopping before settling in Texas, so he's been all over the place and it's not entirely unlikely that he'd have met some people, even in passing. He also attended the PRCU for just over a year, beginning 2010.

<Snipped quote by Nemaisare>
Gareth's probably been with them for a few days, a week at most (assuming they've been in Pointe Bordeaux for that long). I have no idea.

To the best of my knowledge, the convoy will be arriving in Pointe Bordeaux at the start of the RP.
@Tyler i don't know what was mistranstlated but you discribed exactly how i intend to use his powers. by no means did i intend to make something out of nothing. if you read his history he once turned a frige into an airconditioner. with the right reconfiguration of parts could easily happen.

Well, then I guess you have it covered. Though I feel the need to clarify that I would not have offered an opinion on a sheet I hadn't thoroughly read in full. Alas, it was but an observation: do with it what you will.
edits have also been made to my sheet here in the thread should anyone else like to peruse them.

I'm no authority in this RP by any means, but I'd like to offer up my opinion on your powerset, if that's okay:

Personally, I feel you have a good character who is let down by a powerset that I just can't quite seem to get onboard with. One of the various beauties of the Vigilance universe is the 'realism' of powers that Wraith has worked on for a very long time. Every power is rooted in some sort of scientific understanding; of course none of it is 'real' since superpowers don't exist, but there's a lot of attention paid to how various powers work, and why they are able to pass as realistic within Vigilance's own rules of science and magic.

I feel like your approach to technomancy could use some work in this respect. It leaves a lot of questions unanswered to me: How do any of the machines he makes function? Where does the matter come from with which he is able to create components for his machines (via his mercury-like substance)? How does circuitry work? How does his brain (an organic construct), naturally know how to combine man-made components to create machines, without any technological or mechanical knowledge of his own?

I hope this doesn't feel like I'm ripping on you; and I do apologise if I'm speaking out of turn. I just feel like it would be a shame for this character (whom I otherwise really like) to be lumbered with what I feel is an inadequate powerset in comparison to the rest of the sheet - and, indeed, to the other powersets of the approved characters thus far.

Perhaps consider scaling his powers back considerably. I feel he should not be able to simply create machines from any old components. Combining a clock and a toaster is not likely to make a firearm, for example. I feel his powers should solely be rooted in the ability to repurpose and rearrange parts; and, indeed, combine various parts from different machines to create something better, or entirely new. I think the main issue for me, in my mind, is that he needs to have access to the components he requires in order to use them; creating them from nothing seems far-fetched in my opinion.

This doesn't render him useless; he can carry a wealth of parts with him that he knows might come in useful, and if he requires anything else he can pick it up during the stops in various cities. I also think his powers should involve some kind of extensive understanding of mechanical concepts; rather than simply 'knowing everything' about machines, he should be able to look at the components he has available and very swiftly be able to mentally piece together how he might turn them into something else.

I hope this helps, because I'd really like to see this character accepted. Of course, Wraith might disagree with me entirely, in which case I'm more than certain he'll take the opportunity to publicly shame me and send me back to my corner. But this was just how things were looking from my angle; I like to think if someone else had opinions like this about any of my own characters, they would make them known to me.
It seems some of you who showed interest still haven't come over to the OOC thread. We're waiting for you... But not for long!
