working on my intro post for jasper now, but before i go any further with it i just wanted to check: have we reached the cut-off point for characters yet? if not, i was considering bringing in an interpretation of iron lad as my second character.

• Total Anatomy Manipulation - The ability of complete control over every facet of his body, inside and out. Every cell in his body can reshape, regenerate, and alter its properties. He can manually engage and disengage, and take control of, biological processes and functions, such as hormone regulation and metabolism.


• Manual Healing Factor - The ability to manually regenerate from wounds and injuries. Jasper can activate this ability at any time, but must draw matter from elsewhere, such as fat deposits or food, to repair anything lost. Often, he opts to instead reattach severed parts rather than regrow them entirely.


• Superhuman Body - The ability to possess physical capabilities that go beyond the peak of human potential. Jasper’s strength, endurance, durability, speed, agility, reflexes, and stamina are simply incredible, even without his powers of bodily manipulation. His balance is unshakeable and his coordination is pinpoint accurate.


• Body Part Autonomy: The ability to separate and control one's body parts remotely. Jasper can break his body down into parts and retain control over them, including sensory inputs like sight from an eye and touch from a finger. This control remains even over long distances and through solid surfaces. Separated body parts cannot regenerate damage until reattached to Jasper, however.

Biography:

Jasper Morgans-Dupont does not give mutants a good name.
Admittedly, he did not have the greatest start to life: His mother left early and his father was torn over it, withdrawing into meekness and grief. This left much of the task of raising Jasper up to his extended family or, more often than not, himself. His aunt, from his mother’s side, did much of the heavy lifting, though her touch was cold and cynical—she had no problems in tearing down little Jazz’s confidence if she thought his head was getting too big.

Suffering in a broken home, Jasper chooses to vent his frustration at the wider world: He was frequently in trouble at school for fighting and bullying, and had been suspended on more than one occasion, as well as being held back a year. The onset of his mutant powers at the cusp of puberty didn’t help matters, either—awakening to them in the middle of a fistfight, he quickly lost control of his body and triggered a seizure while trying to take it back. Still, he refused to explain the cause to his family, and chose to keep his powers a secret. He stayed out of trouble until now, a few months after graduating, when he could finally begin to control his powers.

Now, Jasper has returned to his usual anti-social behaviour—though he can’t deny the kick he gets when he occasionally opts to “do the right thing”. Still, to call him hero material would be seriously stretching the definition: Cynical, self-absorbed, and generally unpleasant, Jasper masks a turbulent self-image and crumbling self-esteem with an outer shell of bravado and bullish snark.
Despite his churlish presentation, though, he’s no doubt a determined and driven individual with a cunning mind, and a sense of humour and charisma that could make him quite the charmer if it weren’t for everything else. With a bit of work, perhaps he could be coaxed out of his shell—or forced further into it.

Powers and Abilities:

• Mark X Iron Armour - The tenth iteration of Iron Lad’s armour. Though it lags behind the technological supremacy of Harley’s predecessor, the Mark X is nonetheless a potent piece of kit. In line with Tony Stark’s design, the Mark X is powered by an Arc Reactor stored in the chest. Fuelled by Badassium, which is said to replicate the Tesseract’s energy, it is capable of outputting around ten gigajoules a second. Thus, the Mark X will rarely tire beyond the most dire of circumstances.


As well as hosting the onboard A.I., F.R.I.D.A.Y., the suit gives Harley access to a variety of abilities, such as:

-Superhuman Body: The ability to possess physical capabilities that go beyond the peak of human potential. Inside the Mark X, Harley boasts impossible speed and strength, and the suit is incredibly durable.

-Flight: The Mark X is capable of sustained, high speed flight at high altitudes, with an airtight seal and oxygen cycling allowing Harley to safely ascend to great heights.

-Elemental Resistance: The ability to resist hazardous elemental forces and harmful environmental conditions. The Mark X can resist the heat of explosions and the cold of the edge of space, and can resist strong electrical currents. It is capable of functioning and supporting Harley underwater, and can handle limited exposure to vacuums like space.

-Heads-Up Display: The ability to display information in the peripherals of one's own vision. Through the visor of the Mark X’s helmet, Harley can view a variety of information about his surroundings and the status of his suit.

-Arsenal: The Mark X possesses a variety of built in weaponry. This includes palm mounted energy repulsors, miniature missiles (anti-tank, homing and regular ballistic), flamethrowers, lasers, flashbangs, liquid nitrogen blasters, and “smart launchers” guns capable of identifying hostiles and avoiding civilians, which fire twelve tiny bullets.
Also capable of being used offensively is the Arc Reactor: After a brief charging period, it can expel excess energy in the form of an incredibly powerful repulsor beam known as the unibeam. Though potent, this technique must be used wisely, as overuse will drain even the seemingly endless energy of the Arc Reactor.

-F.R.I.D.A.Y.: Harley’s personal A.I. assistant, capable of controlling and inhabiting his technology. F.R.I.D.A.Y. can remotely access and pilot Iron Armours, analyse opponents and the environment, and remotely hack nearby unsecured technology. She can quickly analyse the combat style of enemies and provide useful tips and countertactics, complementing Harley’s own intellect and reasoning.



• Peak Intelligence - The ability to possess an intelligence at the apex of human potential. Harley is a supergenius, with a boundless intellect and keen understanding of complex science and mathematics.


• Mark 0 Iron Armour [Yet to be created] - It’s just a concept for now—but if the design of Tony’s nanites could be further refined, perhaps with a more malleable form…Well, the armour Harley could create would be more than just an improvement. With total control over its form, It would be infinitely more Superior than anything he’d created thus far.

Biography:

Harley Keener was born and raised in Rose Hill, Tennessee, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Keener. Their family would not stay together for long, however: One day, Harley’s father left for 7-11 to buy lottery tickets. He must have won, Harley figures, because he never did come back.

Still, life went on for Harley and his mother. As he grew up, it became evident he was quite the gifted young man—though his position in the science club and at the top of class test results only earned him the ire of school bullies. Yet again, he found himself at odds with the world simply for being himself—how could he have stopped his father from leaving? What had he done to be bullied and looked down upon, save for simply being himself? Though not yet shattered, the young Harley’s spirit was bruised: The universe was keen to deal him misfortune after misfortune, it seemed.

Harley’s luck would turn, however, one night in December. An intruder had entered his garage—with his Potato Gun in hand, he set out to investigate. The intruder was none other than the supposedly deceased Tony Stark, carrying his new prototype Iron Man armour through the snow. Quickly, the two bonded, and Harley set out to help Tony get back on his feet and stop the Extremis virus. Finally, after a confrontation with two Extremis agents, Tony was back in action, and departed from Tennessee in his Iron Armour.
Harley assumed this was the end of his adventures, and that he would return to his normal life—but was overjoyed to return to his garage one day to find that Tony had left him an assortment of new equipment. Finally, he could graduate from making potato guns and truly put his smarts to good use.

From staying in touch over the years, Harley was one of the first to learn of Tony Stark’s tragic sacrifice in the battle against Thanos. Tony had been an undeniable force for good in his life, helping him achieve his full potential and showing him he needn’t let the world bring him down. With how much Mr. Stark had meant to him, Harley was compelled to attend the funeral and pay his respects.
It was at this ceremony that he connected with Pepper Potts, who thanked him for coming and promised she would continue to look out for him—as Tony would have wanted.

Some time later, Harley was finally ready to graduate from high school and move onto university—however, returning home, he found a letter in his mailbox from Stark Industries. The company was pleased to inform him that he had been selected for an illustrious internship program: He was invited to come work for Stark Industries, who in return would pay the full cost of his student fees and ensure his placement in a prestigious tech university. Harley accepted the offer in a heartbeat, and was off to California to work at the main Stark facility and attend classes at Stanford University.

It was while working at the Stark facility that Harley became acutely aware of the power vacuum left after Thanos’ defeat—which only became more apparent when the headquarters was raided after the Tower Bridge attack by a disgruntled Stark employee. The world needed heroes—but the greatest had been lost. Harley had the funding, the technology and the smarts to become what the world needed, but could he? Could he stand to live in the shadow of the man who had meant so much to him?
What he could stand didn’t matter for now. What mattered protecting the people of Earth—and they would be protected by Iron Lad.

Red gloves complete his sinister attire, made of fine silk paid for with blood money. He keeps his distance from others physically and emotionally, his body language remaining guarded as he speaks, his words carefully selected so as not to betray any more information than he would like. He is measured and withdrawn, a being of logic and stability. He rarely if ever reveals an emotion around others, and his parlance is taciturn and to the point.
Yet, behind the veneer of the enigmatic, unsettling "Black Duke", as those close to him have come to know him—lies a man of great complexity with a startling vision for the world.

Edmund's worldview hinges on a simple principle: He believes that all life, above everything else, seeks peace of mind. Humans are driven into conflict because they have perverted the natural order, demanding more than is needed. Animals will only attack when their territory—their peace of mind—is threatened. Humans, however, hold excess and desire in the most noble regard, and so endlessly pursue it at the cost of security. Thus, the goal of a noble man should be to equalise: The ideal world is one in which all people have the same, without hierarchy, existing as a collective rather than battling amongst each other.

Edmund, however, acknowledges this world is not one he lives in. And so, he fights tooth and nail to ensure his peace of mind.
This is his main drive: How can he stay secure, and clear his mind of worry? Thus, his moral system is one which revolves entirely around himself. He is not amoral, nor bloodthirsty: He does not enjoy killing or causing suffering, nor does he have any desire to manipulate or harm others for simple fun. However, he is not opposed to any of this should it bring him peace of mind—he will bring conflicts to an end if such a conflict would cause him anxiety, and likewise kill, lie and steal if it meant protecting his livelihood.
Still, Edmund is human, and he cannot shake the twinge of remorse that strikes when he is forced to commit "evil" acts—if there is a less harmful path to take, he will opt for it. Still, he will do as he must, in the end.

Though he masks it well in public, Edmund is in fact quite an emotionally turbulent individual. He is prone to mood swings, especially into anxiety and paranoia. Easily is his mind disturbed, latching onto troubling thoughts or small moments of negativity and inflating them. Rather than discouraging him, however, these thoughts drive him—though, if driven too deep into paranoia, he is prone to rash decisions in a desperate attempt to silence his mind.

Though he is known as a wealthy and respectable businessman, Edmund was not always a member of the aristocracy. Born into a farming family, the young Edmund was an ambitious child, striving for greatness from an early age. His father encouraged these pursuits, putting forward what little funds they had in an effort to educate the boy. It was thanks to this that Edmund's shrewd business sense began to develop, and as he grew, he began devising various methods through which his family farm could improve: Optimal crop rotation, chemical compounds to improve soil quality—but his greatest strength was his shrewd business sense, which led his humble family farm to expand considerably. No longer would they be subsistence farmers—now they were merchants, selling their bountiful produce.

As their fortunes turned, and the money began to roll in, Edmund was overwhelmed with a profound sense of peace. He had found security in life: A path was clearly laid out for him, and there would be no uncertainty or unpleasant surprises. He could tell exactly how his life would go, and that brought him tremendous calm.

Until the competitors began to arise, and his position as merchant to the esteemed was challenged. Jackals, that’s what these charlatans were—con-men selling subpar snake oil packaged as fine cuisine for the most eminent of epicureans. They dared to challenge his expertly grown produce, muscle in on his market with their cheap peasant slop? He’d see them ousted, whatever it took.

And what it took was just a few deals with businessmen of a less savoury stripe: They would make sure accidents befell shipments, produce was spoiled, carriage drivers intimidated out of their jobs. In return, Edmund would slip a modest sum under the table for them, overlook the stolen valuables and contraband sneaked into the back of his shipments. And if these associates got too big for their boots…Well, surely, the enforcers of justice would believe the story of a noble merchant, intimidated into compliance by the brutish thugs and criminals?

Finally, Edmund believed himself to be truly untouchable. That was, until whispering of war began to reach his ears—a war that could totally upturn his livelihood, his network, everything he’d worked for. He would not stand for this: He would do all it took to protect the kingdom in which he made his living. Though, if the enemy offered him parlay…Well, he’d go wherever loyalty was valued the most./

Third Wheel - Force and Blood - Bloodchild
While not one to rush into battle perhaps as keenly as some others, Edmund nonetheless recognises the importance of self defence. For this purpose, he mainly leans into practising Blood magic: Its versatility in both defence and offence makes it a boon to have when repelling enemy assaults. He focuses heavily on its ability to shape constructs from matter, controlling the flow of battle by constructing obstacles for his enemies and opportunities for himself and his allies. He is a master of zoning out the battlefield, making himself difficult to approach and employing traps and projectiles to frustrate his enemy’s attempts to close the distance.

In a similar vein, his secondary school of Force allows him considerable mobility, as well as an added method of controlling his environment. He bounces sound around to confuse the enemy of his position, throwing himself about and levitating to quickly reposition. However, while able-bodied, Edmund is nowhere close to the physical strength and endurance of most other combatants—thus, he is in trouble if his opponent does catch him, and the ability of Force to empower one’s physical attacks is mostly useless to him. Nonetheless, he is a slippery opponent indeed, utilising his powers like a trickster to disorient and tire his opponent.

Nonetheless, he is a slippery opponent indeed, utilising his powers like a trickster to disorient and tire his opponent.

❖ Intelligence - Edmund is a learned and scholarly man, with knowledge in a variety of subjects, as well as the wit to apply it practically.
❖ Business sense, both legitimate and illegitimate - A shrewd businessman, Edmund understands the art of the deal quite well. He is no stranger to shadier deals, as well, and has an intimate knowledge of the criminal underworld's customs.
❖ Silver tongued - Befitting of a businessman, Edmund is a persuasive individual with good people skills. He can rouse morale in the most crestfallen, and convince even the stubbornest of them to see things his way.
❖ Determined - Edmund is incredibly driven, and is not easily deterred from what he desires. He will continue to pursue his goal where others would succumb to despair, his willpower seeing him through to the end.

❖ Selfish - Edmund looks after himself above all else, and despises self-sacrifice, even when necessary.
❖ Paranoid - Edmund is easily spooked, worrying far too much for his own good.
❖ Close-minded - Edmund is stubborn, and often insistent on his way. He is slow to accept new ideas, and would spurn the advice of even a sage if it contradicted his own view.
❖ Controlling - Edmund is cunning and manipulative to a detriment, and struggles to form genuine connections with others. This often leads to them mistrusting him, and makes loyalty difficult for him to earn.

Dropping my basic character idea here as others have done, I give you Jasper Morgans!



A stark contrast from the magic users currently on the team, Jasper's mutant powers are entirely based in his physical body: He possesses the ability of total anatomy manipulation. Jasper has complete control over just about every facet of his body, inside and out. This power possesses a wide variety of defensive, offensive and supportive capabilities, including:

-The ability to redistribute and control organic matter in his body, allowing him to reshape his form to give himself extra limbs, change around his anatomy, or repair damage taken.
-The ability to alter the properties of his body: For example, hardening the skin and bone in his fists, or making himself limber and elastic. He cannot change the state of his body, however, meaning he must remain solid rather than liquid or gaseous.
-Greatly increased speed, stamina, strength, reflexes and endurance that exceed those of even the fittest non-mutants.
-A total mind-body connection that allows him to detach his body parts and still have control over them: For example, taking out his eye and using it for surveillance, or puppeteering his hand Addams Family style.
-Control over his metabolism, allowing him to resist the effects of drugs and poisons or delay their effect.

And a few other things that are too niche or specific to mention.
