A few hours had passed since her meeting with Edge.

As Jane turned the corner, she was forced to take an extra look at the GPS on her cellphone, just to ensure she was at the right place. At nighttime there might be a crowd of people lining up, but at a time like this, there seemed to be little to differentiate Angel’s Embrace from any other place. Luckily a neon sign confirmed that this indeed was the place, and Jane could put away her phone.
Without further hesitation she walked up to the guy outside, a tall man with a toothpick. And it was clear she caught his attention right away with the impatient pace in which she moved.

“I need to get in,” Jane said before the guy could even open his mouth.

“ID, please.”

“She’s here. That’s all the ID you are gonna get, tough guy.”

A moment passed where the bouncer seemed to scan her with his eyes, as if he had x-ray vision. Before Jane discovered her powers, she wouldn’t have messed with a guy his sized. Well, she would have, but she probably wouldn’t have won, even though she was a fighter from birth.
Before she had arrived at the club, she had made sure to wear one of her signature hoodies and applied an extra lair of make-up, making her almost look like a goth chick.

“Listen-“ the guy tried, but was interrupted.

“Nope, you listen. You can tell Lady Tori, that she is here. And she requests an audience.”
“Who’s here?”
For this, Jane stepped right up into his face. “She… as in the.”

It took a few seconds, but the tall man seemed to finally get the message. Most people realized Jane was not a woman to trifle with, once they recognized the seriousness in her cold stare.

Somehow the guy seemed much shorter when he gave a pad down to the Jane Doe. He didn’t seem thrilled either when discovering a grenade in her pocket, which he hesitantly confiscated. He then took out the stamp.
Jane hadn’t cared when he removed the explosives from her, in fact she hadn’t even blinked, though he clearly did. But now she was the one hesitating for a bit before reaching out her hand and receiving the stamp.

In reality neither Jane, or the organization she work for, knew for sure that Tori was who they suspected her to be. But an organization like Edge had noticed the long string of deaths that were connected to the strip club, Angel’s Embrace. And that was only a few of the strange events that surrounded the place.
Once inside, Jane found a table to sit by, until she would get an invite from the office. “Move along, little bird,” she mumbled to the girl approaching her. A waitress no doubt.
The establishment had class, not something Jane would ever be invited to. Had Jane not had a love one, she would defiantly have explored the place. Allow herself to enjoy it even. Instead she only checked out the wonderful, tight piece of ass that passed by. It was all about the little things, especially since this day was about to get a whole lot more crazy. In fact the future of the city would most likely be determined by just two individuals: Tory and of course Jane Doe. What a strange, strange thought.
@Unknown100 I know, I know. And I apologise for not writing anything before this happened. I'm not asking you to change anything, I was simply stating stuff for no apparent reason.

On the plus side, posts should be better from today on since I'm feeling refreshed (I suppose). I think I'd had a bit of RP burnout... ._.

Cool - cool. Looking forward to it. I guess our characters are not exactly gonna be BBF from now on ;)
Considering that it's 10 days since you said anything IC or OOC, 4 days before you posted the status, while posting in other threads I say that it was quite justified, especially since you were posting in other threads while your status was active. Thanks for sticking up for me.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking, when I heard the argument.

@Vocab you have to understand how this looks, and that I have been waiting for quite a while. I don't intend to offend you, but I had to do something, so my character wasn't stuck, but also make it believable, how she was allowed to simply leave the conversation without a fight.
You can of course take it up with the GM, but read the rules on the first page before you do.
I hope you understand.

Jane could almost see the wheels start turning in Alaz’s head, they were working on a lie. This girl, however powerful, was not ready to be let into Edge. Without a second's hesitation, Jane stepped forward and launched a well-placed hook that connected with the demon girl’s jaw. She was out in a second, and Jane could feel her body go numb, as she caught her and laid her on the rooftop.
“Consider this mercy,” were Jane’s final words. How she had knocked the girl out was a cowards move. Jane had basically earned some trust by telling her only weakness and sprout out information about Edge. And Jane had then been close enough to deliver a sucker punch, much like Alaz had done to her earlier. However the night was dark and full of scientific terrors, and Jane had to disappear right now.

THE NEXT DAY…

An orange sun bathed the office. All the expensive furniture almost lit up by the warm light. Though it was a clear morning sky a storm was raging. Not a literal one, no, a different kind of storm.

Jane and the one of the two gentlemen, she reported to, both stared at the screen, where a journalist eagerly handed the mic over to her guest; an elderly man. After repeatedly trying to describe his field of science, she had simply introduced him as an expert in the supernatural. As he spoke he looked directly at the camera.

“… We all know the destruction at the theater is beyond words. Witnesses describe the battle as a brutality beyond anything humanity has ever faced. 40 people have been confirmed dead, and paramedics are still pulling bodies out of the rubble. Since our own government have yet to release a statement, we can’t say what caused this, but one thing is clear: This country is dealing with threats our police force are not capable of fighting. Terrors that we need to meet head on and stop. Fight fire with fire.”

“And how do you suggest we do that?” asked the reporter and immediately gave the mic back to the man.

“It’s easy: We use any and all means to track down the mastermind behind all this death and destruction. And we all know who that is, don’t we? Jane Doe. Among all the stories survivors tell, one thing remains consistent: A hooded girl was repeatedly struck by lighting. Then she got up, shot some kind of laser out of her hands, and incinerated 2 buildings and damaged 4 others. Then she completely vanished. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the work of Jane Doe. She is out there, and she holds no regard for human life. This terrorist needs to be put to justice. So I ask you all: What are you willing to do to protect your love ones? What should the country do to ensure safety and-“

The man, Jane was with, turned off the giant TV. Michael was his name, and as far as she knew, he was a founder of Edge.
“We could have used this,” he mumbled. “We could have exposed the Scientists for what they really are. We could have won this war in a week, if only you hadn’t lost your mind.”

A different Jane had got up this morning. All energy seemed to have run out of her. Not so much her power, but her charisma; her personality that inspired strength. What made her the symbol of Supernatural strength and striking back at society.
Jane always knew that their war would eventually cause casualties. But she had never thought it would be by her own hand. She had never believed her power could be used against her. When she destroyed those buildings she had been under the influence of another Supernatural. Someone had possessed her and made her anger fuel her into something she was not. Now she was about to become the most wanted woman on the planet, and if that happened, how long until people found out about her girlfriend? Jane would kill for Lisa.
“What’s the next step?” Jane wished to know. She stood up, but didn’t look Michael in the eyes like she use to.

“Next step is we thank God the Scientists still don’t know how to fight you. Though you displayed an enormous amount of foolishness, you didn’t expose your weakness. No doubt they will hunt you with all the wrong means."

Jane felt a slight bit of annoyance and a bit of her old self came back, as she said: “So… tell me what the next step is!”

Edge is starting to wonder, if it’s wise to share such information with you."

“Bullshit! I’m the sword of this organization, and you need me! Even if the entire world wants Jane Doe dead, they won’t find me. All they know to look for is a young woman in a dark hoodie. They don’t know my face, they don’t even know my real name. They have nothing.”

For a few moments there was silence. Then Michael spoke. He explained in details the next step, and Jane was quick to sign on to be the one to carry out this task. It seemed risky to her, but on some level she knew she had to earn back some trust with Edge. They were small, but extremely well funded, and they were gonna take over the city. It was merely a question of when.
Vocab doesn't seem to respond to my post in the IC. I would have my character just walk away, but it would seem weird that his/her character doesn't protest to this. So maybe it's okay that I god mod his/her character slightly? Just to make the scene make sense. And then my character can continue doing things in the IC.

While listening to Alaz’s words other words sounded, but these were in Jane’s very head.

You thought she saved lives. Look at the city. Warped, bent. Electronics are cut out, killing lifesupport. Planes crashing to the ground. I can hear their screams. Feel their pain as life's are snuffed out. Do you really want her to know who you are?

It felt almost like her own thoughts, but Jane knew that to be false.

I've looked into the girl's mind. She is no saviour. She is a killer, just like you, but on a very different scale. If humans didn't know about your kind before, they most likely do now, due to her.

This was some powerful manipulation, but the now calm Jane didn’t listen. The present and surroundings were real, not the deceiving and bittersweet voice.
Nice try, witch, Jane thought and concentrated on Alaz instead. In order to keep the horrible guilt of slaughtering dozens of innocents at bay, Jane had to concentrate on Alaz.
“Jane Doe is all the name you are gonna get, and first thing you need to know is some social skills. Second is…”
She bend her one wrist and fired the same kind of Armageddon she had done one the battlefield. But this was upon her self, her hand, yet on a smaller scale. She did so in a flash of light, until even these hardened restrains became nothing and freed her. Unafraid she walked up to what had been her enemy 1 minute ago and stared at her without even blinking.
“Secondly…” she then started again, “this will never hurt me.” Jane showed her unscathed arm, yet burned sleeves. “Never use heat, explosions or blunt force. That’s nothing to me. That’s like trying to stop me with a water gun. No, you stay at a distance, you create something a lot sharper than restraints, you teleport in just as I finish an attack, and you pierce me through the heart. You make damn sure I die instantly or you won’t live to tell the tale, I can promise you that. So… If you ever see me target civilians again, you kill me… you kill me good.”
Had someone told Jane she would explain how to beat her to a winged girl, Jane would think that person was crazy. But here she was, revealing what Scientists had yet to discover. Jane still wasn’t entirely sure why she did it, but maybe it was because she had always seen her powers as a weapon for good. Now it had been used against her, and against her agenda. Jane had shown the world why they should fear and shut out Supernaturals.
With her shoulders lowered Jane rubbed her sore wrists. Though her power had absorbed most of the blow, her throat had also started to ache.
“Now we got that out of the way, I'll tell you about Edge, so listen good: Edge, they like to make long speeches. They like security and to plan everything. They want the city, but won’t say what the next move will be. Only that it’s about the survival of Supernaturals. What Edge isn’t, is a swinger club where you pay a fee and join. It’s a closed initiative. You don’t approach them, they approach you. They’re small, but very well-fonded, and they only take a few. Smaller risk that way, they tell me. Now let’s have a look at you.” Jane tipped her head to the side in a judging manner and assessed the girl she was talking to. “No doubt that teleport-thing would impress them. Maybe even get their imagination starting. Possibilities – possibilities. But that’s the extend; That’s how far it would go. Edge values talents and trust. You no doubt got the first part, but what about the second? Why do you fight, Alaz? Not for others, do you? For fun then? The thrill of the game? Maybe for bloodlust? Or do you simply fight to see if you’re the best?” Jane sighed and shook her head. “All of those answers will be an instant fail if you stand before the founders of Edge. Since you have the look of someone who only cares about herself, tell me why you wish to join? And don’t lie, or I will know.”
Haha @Vocab in your previous post you described that Jane's arms and legs where bound. So when Jane said "cuffs", she meant remove the cuffs :p
A great thing about this rp is it really gives you a lot of options for characters.

Yes, especially when characters all have different powers and different personalities/believes. Then the sky is the limit for both action and character development.

Besides Harriet and her family it seems like no one has any relationships of any kind in here. That is a little disconcerting even though the battle scenes are great and fun I would think a little more personal interactions between charachters would bring out more in the story. Backgrounds and history. Who was friends/lovers/arch rivals whatever. They need more ties that bind them to each other. Is this coming across well? I'm not trying to criticize. I am really enjoying this rp, I do think we could add a little more that might make it even better.

I think it's slowing down now. I also think the action went on for maybe a bit too long. But, but, but we can use this. The huge action set piece will now be something that can be referenced through the entire RP. It can be known to be the moment Supernaturals revealed themselves to the world. It can be known as a taste of the pure carnage Supernaturals can unleash. It can be known to show how far both sides are willing to go. And it is kinda an introduction between characters that have different ideologies.

For my character it also shows her how dangerous her powers really are, and that they can be used against her. She is someone who has never doubted herself, but that was before she had killed innocents (and that's something I will use further on, along with the other little plot points I have set up). She now also have a small relationship with several of the other characters.

So all in all, I think we will get a lot more story and a little less action in the future. Buuuuuuut action will no doubt serve a purpose in the future also :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool. I'm already kinda preparing for what Jane wishes to tell :)

I like to plan ahead.

Everything had gone by fast, but not so fast that a kickboxer couldn’t follow. And Jane had been that for years before she even developed powers. This devil had made the same mistakes as before and used violent force to try to bring Jane down. Had she used lesser force maybe her kick would have had the desired effect.
Jane’s first instinct was to annihilate her enemy and the rooftop with her. The devil-girl still didn’t know that brute force only fed Jane’s power, and because the devil didn’t know how to fight Jane, she suspected it would be a short one, even in chains.
But then new sensations rushed over Jane: A more clear head, and with it: guilt. Jane had been out of it. She had… had… targeted civilians. Killed civilians. But the rage that made her do it, had not been entirely her own. Mind manipulation.
That other woman! Jane thought to herself and suddenly realized that this new devil-girl had not only saved countless lives, but also saved Jane from becoming a puppet for more than just a moment.
After blinking rapidly, Jane slowly stood up, so to not provoke a fight from the devil, before walking to the literal edge and taking in the view.

There were humans down below. Families merely going about their business without a single thought of the war to come. Real war, not that little power-display at the theater.

How could I let myself get chained again? I was ready for it. Unless... unless I secretly wanted this girl to stop me.

Jane inhaled, exhaled and felt the calmness fall upon her like a blanket. “Cuffs,” she said and nodded to her wrists. It wasn’t a suggestion. “And then… name.”
