Elementals: The Scarred World

Welcome to the world of Darkengrad, a world that is by no means an advanced civilization, but in fact doesn't need such things because of a gift that has been attributed to the Gods, Demons, and the inner power of humanity. Regardless of its source, what matters is that there are individuals who have the gift that is best called "Magick". It wasn't as all powerful as some would think; allowing people to shatter the world over, but it did present amazing possibilities.

Story

The ability to shift water without tools, the power to start fires with just their hands, able to shape the earth, and even bending the light or darkness around them. The possibilities seemed limitless. The world was changed and shifted to make things perfect, and technology made leaps and bounds. The world progressed, and people overall could be called happy.

Then, everything began to burst at the seams. Paranoia began to show itself as the Elementals, for all their powers, still had those that were corrupt, those that abused, and those that simply sought to destroy. Elementals began to die, by assassin, mob, and even children showing magical gifts were being murdered. Elementals began to respond in kind, and suddenly the world was faced with a crisis of Elementals beginning to exterminate humanity. When other Elementals began to oppose, nothing but war followed.

The war reshaped the world, ripping apart the lands which had once been maintained and kept calm for all people. Famine would rip across the land, but it was nothing compared to what happened at the wars end. Near the middle of Darkengrad, a collection of armies, mages, demons, and whatever else could be mustered met in full battle. While none can claim to know the exact details, the aftermath is what ended the war. An enormous elemental storm now holds the middle of the land as its own, neatly cutting the island in half as the storms rage. Sometimes raining molten boulders, other times lightning, sometimes beams of light, or darkness. All elements raged, and none dared to enter it, making a trip to the north or south dangerous.

With the wars end, surviving Elementals and humanity decided to split off from each other as best they could. The Elementals went to their own covens, known officially as Academies, to train others in their arts, and also to teach them their history, keep things a bit more organized and calm as far as mages were concerned. These separated Academies became centers of learning, areas of general calm as they could also deal with the monsters now freely roaming the world apart from the few castles and kingdoms still standing, occupied largely by what is left of the population of the world.

And now, seven hundred years after the Great Wars had taken place, things have slowly pulled themselves back together. The Academy itself has been shifted into different areas to accommodate each group, but all ultimately joining together to the Great Halls where many events, celebrations, and everyday tasks are accomplished. Every month more mages are sent in from the villages on the mainland, either found through recruitment, or running from the cities which fear their skills.

The Story thus far

The world has seen much better times as the world continues its long recovery from the destruction that had occurred hundreds of years ago. While kingdoms and people have largely normalized, the world will always seem to have the stormy reminder, and monsters are back to wandering the countryside as they please. To make things even worse, a technically advanced city known as Jurai approached an Academy with concerns that they had found something which is related to the storms. Their concern was so much so that they actually came in one of their mighty Airships to recruit some mages to combat what they consider to be a grave enough threat to come out of hiding in their almost mythical city.

TL DR

You are an Elemental who has been chosen (For reasons not yet disclosed to you) to be taken via airship northward to the Kingdom of Jurai, a secretive and paranoid group of people who contacted the Academy to deal with what they consider to be a very serious threat. You are just about to leave the Academy and board with a selection of others.

All different elements have been brought along (Just don’t plan on everyone being a master. Those are rare in and of themselves). You can come from any walk of life you like, with any race or accent in mind. World was splintered by the Magic War, so all kinds of societies/groups have been born into their own towns/cities, but ultimately ended up at the Academy due to their gifts.

Technologically the world is largely in the Medieval era, though some towns have developed farther than others, and the Elemental Academy is no exception to Cannons on ships, or the extremely rare pistol made either from Mechanists, or from the technological cities.

Character Limits: Depending on size of the group, I am willing to take 1 Master, 2-3 Weavers, 4-5 Adepts, and as many mages as want to come along. I’m also hoping to have variety in Elements, so if you see 2 Illuminates, maybe a third isn’t a good idea. Don't consider yourself down and out of course, just keep in mind the amount of competition you'll have.

My choice as who gets what if we have more applicants in one section is going to be based purely on how well you write a character, (and opinions between people in the OOC discussion)
Howdy all, ran into a bit of a complication schedule change, but still going to be putting up the OOC and all that this evening. So if you want to hold back so you would only have to post the character once, just hang in there.
Since this seems to have gotten a pretty big amount of people interested, I'll probably just wait the day, then make it on the RP side of things so OOC and all that stuff becomes options!

Thanks for all the interest everyone
You have certainly piqued my interest. :3

Interest noted! We'll see if anyone else notes it before I actually try rolling it out.

"I am Drell, Sentinel Vookta. We are done here, and the others are leaving. I think it best we do the same." Drell shouted back, spinning his saber to deflect a new group of troopers no longer having to deal with the other Jedi who seemed to have escaped. Falling back to another hallway and taking off at a sprint, hoping that Vookta would be able to keep up at least enough so that they could get moving to someplace away from the now legion of troopers likely coming. "We need to make a decision, Sentinel Vookta. We either need to escape very quickly through perhaps some maintenance shaft or entrance to get to the undercity, or hope to find more Jedi holding somewhere. We are either going to be trying to save more, or we leave." Drell quickly explained, sliding around some pillars and pausing to listen for a moment to see if he could determine more fighting or firing. Reaching with his senses was a disaster, as the entire temple was now a mess of emotional outbursts. Fear, hate, surprise, and carnage all about which kept him from focusing at this point. "Nevermind....we must leave. We'll never find them unless your senses are much sharper than mine. Do you know a way under the temple? We **must** leave, or we won't be leaving." Drell now insisted, realizing that the situation was already so hopeless, and lingering would only add to it.
> I think Alecar and Salhaine are still waiting for Drell to respond, we're pretty much stuck until then *shrug*. Sorry about the delay. Site was down so much before, but I did make a small post before to try and get things rolling again. Apologies again, just site was so dysfunctional before when I tried it wouldn't work.
**"You don't happen to have a med-pack or something, Master...?"** "Drell." He didn't have much time for niceties at this point, as the now unconscious Jedi wasn't going to be doing much for anyone at this point. Even less so as he began to hear a new volley of blaster fire just down the hall, meaning that more Jedi were coming this way and running into the boarding parties, or a new squad had come from the front. Either way, he had to start doing something about this disaster that was forming around him. "Search these troopers. The specialized type tend to have medpacks on them just in case. I assume these are no different." Drell ordered, walking over to the control panel, looking over the controls and slamming a button to cause the hanger doors to slowly start to try and shut. It was a bit late at this point, but it might help a tiny bit in at least buying them a little more time. Turning to go back down the hall, he pulled his lightsaber free once again and started running. He wasn't going to make it out of here alone, and perhaps another trained Jedi could help here. "If he isn't up in a minute. Follow. We need to go." Drell continued, moving towards the blaster fire grimly. It was still going, so someone was still alive. As he finally got to the group of troopers, he saw Jedi who were going to be fighting a losing battle against a large group of clones. He needed something to even the odds...reaching out with the force, he knew the best chance he had was for a few accidents to happen. Shoving a blaster rifle so the shot for the intended Jedi instead went towards a fellow clone. Stepping forward and brandishing his blade, he was confident in the new angle of his attack on the troop of clones would even the odds. "HERE! TRY YOUR CHANCES HERE!" Drell challenged, spinning his blade and launching a few bolts back at the troopers. He had a chance to adapt to his more defensive style, and now with the fire split between himself and the other Jedi they would at least be able to handle this group for the moment. He now hoped that the Jedi he had left in the control room would awaken and follow soon. As many as possible needed to be out of here.
Lira chuckled, entertained by the interjection of The Voice into the conversation, dripping with a sarcasm which she was sure she had heard a few times. _Voice is really touchy today. Someone obviously didn't get taken out to dinner like they should have been. Poor girl. _ Shaking aside the thought as a big fellow cleared his throat and decided that he was going to try out the old fashioned way of digging. While she couldn't claim to typically be a fan, starting from the top floor of this place seemed to be a waste of time. If they had air coverage already, then what they needed would not be upstairs. "I think we should go with the big guy's idea. C'mon, no night to waste now. If anybody else can move rocks, come on out and give him a hand would ya? We need to do this quickly if we're going to do it." Lira paused for a moment, then figured she could explain her thoughts to the other that spoke. "Not sure about you, darling, but unless you have a quiet way up to that roof I get the feeling we would set off a lot of alarms, and thats before we figure out that there is nothing up there and we have to work our way down. Not fun at all in my book, especially if it ends up being all by myself! I'm sure you'll have fun figuring it all out though. Till then, I think I’ll take the route that gets us inside fast, and hopefully back outside faster." Lira took her turn jumping into the night after their stoic earthbender. Hopefully this would be a reasonably easy way to slip through underground. They'd need to go deep, and they would need to be careful. Couldn't have the floor they were digging under to collapse early, or this plan and infiltration would be a bust, which she was not a particular fan of. This place had all kinds of secrets if it was drawing that kind of power, meaning there could be weapons development, maybe advanced mechs, or all kinds of things going on here. "Alright, big guy. You get to digging, and I'll make sure we don't have anyone getting too curious in the meantime." Lira whispered to Xuan, hoping that if she had to make a distraction it wouldn't get any additional attention without some more of the crew to back her up.
Lira was practically dozing as they had placed her in the container. She hadn't bothered to greet or note the others, and they likewise did not seem to be as inclined to do so. It seemed that somehow 'The Voice', as she had pleasantly nicknamed her typical order giver who of course was using likely a voice masking software to make sure that if they were caught that they wouldn't get caught along with them. She didn't mind, it was a typical mission at this point, and she wasn't about to start pressing The Voice now. Though, as they quietly rode along, she began to become aware of the amount of others that were sitting in the container. The amount of people began to spark other lines of thought, which eventually came to a single question which began to slightly irk her.

What exactly is there to take pictures of in here? Anything can be of interest, but this many people means that we are possibly hitting something...too large.

While Lira had her reservations about what exactly required so many people to come along to this, she was a bit more curious now about the lab as she always was when it came to getting into these structures. Usually they were much more obvious about what they had. Giant labs had typical runoff pipes and trucks transporting hazardous material at a regular rate. Factories tended to have more often than not supplies and ammo coming in, and never going back out like a supply base. This one looked different. All kinds of supplies, but security wasn't quite like the other facilities. It was then that The Voice decided to let her know the situation.

"I have aerial recon of the facility. You've got two other possible entry points - there's a rooftop entrance if you think you can get up there. It's about thirty feet up or so. There's also a third door on the opposite side of the structure, near the ornipad, I'd guess the VIP entrance."

She flexed her fingers with a smile behind the mask she had worn for this mission. Best to keep her identity somewhat hidden for this one, especially since she didn't imagine working with these people for too long. Still, it seemed that some of them were planning on getting in and out of there as fast as possible. Right to some computers right away, which she would be just fine getting to so they could finish up their hunt here. Though, from the looks of things this cargo dock wasn't going to be connected to anything important other than shipping manifests.

"Taking a stroll around the building to be greeted as VIPs? Didn't know you had a pass." Lira replied to what she assumed was a techie itching to get back online. "We'll be avoiding a lot of eyes going around. Might be easier to just get in through the shipping area. The dumb bots won't much care for us catching a ride, and the guards don't seem to care about the amount of stuff coming in. Maybe even get to a quick shipping computer."

Lira had used the tactic before, even once just sitting on top of the box flat as it carried her inside. Guards didn't much care to check the bots, as the containers were usually expected and automated cargo, things that could be exploited to get inside, and then collect what they needed. While the roof was attractive, she figured it would also be watched, meaning it would be better to start on the main floor and choose a direction, rather than start at the top to find everything they wanted was at the bottom.

"Of course, if any of you darlings have an idea for getting in without attracting a battalion to just get some information I would be open to that." Lira finished, checking the whip at her side, and taking quick inventory of the rest of the group. Most were quiet, but that was expected since they had all decided to keep this professional. Bunch of stiffs really. Probably the types who wouldn't even buy a girl a drink. Always the boring ones on missions like this. Shouldn't get my hopes up.
