๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐:
Akahele was born in Hanalei, Hawai'i to Makani Onakea his Native Hawaiian mother, and Kaoru Nishimura his Japanese father. He is the second eldest child of four. Growing up in a lifestyle that lacked trends, he appreciated outdoor activities, and was never really accustomed to the urban life that some of his friends bragged about in Honolulu. Everyone knew everyone in his town, and for the majority of his life he had a sense of belonging to his island and the people that surrounded him. His childhood was carefree and lacked any significant problems, making him relatively naive to the struggles of reality.
At the age of thirteen, his parents started to seem distant with each other. What seemed like an argument turned into separation. his father decided he would go back to Japan to sort out his life, and asked Akahele if he would come with him. Such a decision was bold for a thirteen year old who was perfectly content with his life in Hanalei, but there was more he had to consider. It was this time that his father encouraged him to apply to Mahoutokoro-- the ancient wizard school of Japan and the school that his father attended. Upon his acceptance, the decision was made, and he would move to Japan with his dad, leaving behind his siblings and mother.
He hated his freshman year, and the subsequent years at Mahoutokoro. Being the only half Hawaiian with no one to connect with his culture left him quite isolated, and resentful towards his father. They spoke less, and Akahele became more rebellious and independent. He would get in fights for kids picking on his features, his accent or his intelligence. Yet, he excelled in school and achieved high marks to spite them, and happened to grow taller and more menacing looking. They left him alone.
Eventually towards his senior year in Japan, he decided to transfer to The Salem Witches' Institute. Many factors were involved in his decision. He wanted to be away from his dad for a while, but no school was available for him in Hawai'i. Salem Witches' Institute seemed like an interesting and high regarded institution, and it was far enough away from his dad where he felt he could thrive on his own.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx | CORAGYPS ATRATUS JUVENILE || BLACK VULTURE || MALE ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Akahele knows Wuewue can be as temperamental as himself, and ironically they are patient with each other. But Akahele doesn't know too much about Wuewue's personality, other than it is a juvenile and very much acts like one. ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Wueuwe is either too stubborn or too stupid to learn any skill other than mail carrying. Akahele has tried to no avail. |

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx | CANIS LUPUS FAMILIARIS 5 || ALASKAN MALAMUTE || FEMALE ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Despite Akahele's efforts to contain her, Sapo loves people. She is very intuitive and sensitive to other species' emotions. Akahele prefers to be solitary, but Sapo makes that very difficult. She walks lightly on her feet, almost to a trot wherever she goes. ๐ธ๐๐๐๐๐ If she doesn't understand Akahele she huffs almost like she's sneezing. She'll paw for attention if someone is sad. ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Sapo never travels far from Akahele. She is trained to walk by his side, if not a few feet in front or behind him. Occasionally when she frolics she will test the distance, but rarely does Akahele need to call for her to return. If she's gone from Akahele's sight she will respond to his call and return. Aside from that, she is trained to help with some herb picking, but its a fairly new skill. Sapo also regularly helps carry things either by pulling sleds or with a bag saddled onto her. Bond with Sapo Akahele has known Sapo since she was a pup. In the beginning of his time at Mahoutokoro, he was a day student commuting back and forth between campus and his home in Hokkaido. In Hokkaido, there was an Ainu boy named Mata around Akaheleโs age who was also an aspiring wizard, and lived in the outskirts of town. Despite Akahele hating his years at school and feeling isolated, Mata and him got along well. Mataโs father imported an Alaskan malamute to train for working around the farm home. Mata and Akahele played with her since she was a pup, and it was Mataโs task to train her. Over the years as the two boys bonded, they bonded over their shared efforts in caring for the dog. The dog was always aloof and cheerful and would follow them around anywhere they went in Hokkaido. She would pull sleds, but get distracted easily by chasing rabbits or after one of the boys. No name was given to her at the time, though Akahele would always call her stupid or silly for her cheerful disposition. She adored the boys. In times of sadness she would be there to comfort. She would follow them to the mountains where their little treehouse shack was made, and whimper whenever they had to leave for school. In their late teens, Mata and Akahele spent most of their time practicing magic together, bonding with other misfits, and creating mischief. When Mata learned that Akahele was moving to America, he gifted the dog to Akahele as a sign of their friendship. Partly it was because of Mataโs father who insisted on ridding her for her lack of efficiency in working, and he had other dogs to care for rather than waste his time with a glorified pet. But, Mata also knew Akahele would care for her well, and did not wish for her to go to any other home than Akaheleโs. Akahele joked about naming the dog Sapporo after the beer they often drank, and while Mata and Akahele joked about it, the name stuck. |
