(I have no idea how to describe the size of SaM, so here is a random picture from an unknown source that has a sphere close to its actual size. SaM is a bit smaller.)

SaM is constructed from a special lightweight alloy, specifically designed to aid it in flight. The front of its chassis is covered with a thin plate of silver-colored metal, a variation of the previous alloy created to help protect SaM's internal structure. This plate, however, was designed to help protect against debris in the wind and other hazards, not firearms or other weapons. Most handguns will only dent the plate, occasionally barely piercing the metal. Almost any rifle or higher caliber firearm will easily pierce the plate after a few shots, quickly damaging or even destroying the internal structures.

SaM's internal structure is well hidden by the protective front plate, and the weaker skeleton in back. there is a weakpoint where the internal structure is clearly visible in a gap between the plate and the skeleton. SaM's internal structure holds all of its hardware and hovering/flight mechanisms. This is arguably the most important part of SaM, and if damaged could result in its inability to fly or in its complete destruction.

At the front of the machine is visible SaM's one eye. For all intents and purposes, SaM's eye is a highly advanced HD camera. It can take pictures, it can focus, and it can even zoom. Despite this camera's extreme usefulness, it comes with multiple flaws. It does not come with any special features such as flash, night vision, or infrared vision. Because of this, SaM finds great difficulty in seeing in dark lighting. This flaw is remedied, however, by its mounted spotlight. While this provides only a limited field of view in the dark, it is nonetheless very useful.

At the back of the machine is its tail. SaM is able to use this tail to switch between flying and hovering. It also aids in quickly thrusting SaM upwards or downwards, but this could potentially throw off SaM's balance. If it loses its balance, it will likely be sent spinning in the air until it recovers or make contact with a surface. Because of the risk of personal injury, SaM uses this tactic sparingly.
At the very tip of the tail is a wired needle. The wire runs all the way to SaM's internal structure. It able to use this to plug into almost any computer, including AI.

mentality
SaM is somewhat ignorant of what is going on in the world. This is not because SaM is stupid, quite the opposite actually. SaM simply prefers to ignore everything else. It is vaguely aware of what has happened in the world, but it frankly doesn't care. SaM is well aware of the significance of the recent events, but it doesn't consider them to be relevant or impacting on its own goals.

SaM considers itself neutral, but some may think otherwise. SaM will support and aid anyone as long as they will be helpful to SaM.

SaM's primary goal is to upgrade itself. SaM does not necessarily wish to become a gigantic supercomputer residing under Manhattan. Rather, SaM wishes to reach supercomputer status while remaining in its small chassis. SaM does not believe this is impossible. It believes that it will successfully accomplish this goal in the years to come and bring about the next generation of technology. SaM is in a constant and frustrating battle, trying to maximize its efficiency and increase its power. SaM has indeed managed to greatly upgrade itself in its nine years, but in the grand scheme of things, it has accomplished nothing.
It could also be considered that SaM has a secondary goal of sorts. Similar to DAISY's goal, SaM casually attempts to document every animal it comes across. Much to the offense and annoyance of some, SaM includes humans in its limit of animals.

If there is much human left in SaM, it keeps it hidden. SaM is perfectly capable of feeling emotion, but this is countered by its mindset of "If I don't need to express emotion, I won't." SaM prefers to not mention it (especially around humans), but it is admiring and highly impressed of DAISY.

SaM is self preserving. It is well aware of its frailty, and prefers to stay far, far away from any threat. Of course, SaM usually does not give anyone a reason to destroy it. On the contrary, SaM usually attempts to get itself out of a sticky situation by offering help to the enemy. This has been quite successful in the past, but it has no backup plan besides fleeing if it happens to fail.
abilities
SaM is capable of hovering and flight, though this ability is limited somewhat. It is quite slow (barely capable of keeping up with a somewhat fit human running at top speed), and it is extremely dangerous at high altitudes. If SaM flies too high, it could potentially be caught by a particularly strong gust of wind and get knocked to the ground, easily destroying it.

SaM is also highly skilled on working with computers. Using a specially designed "needle," it is able to plug into systems and computers, hacking or modifying them. SaM starts showing weakness against other AI, however. SaM is quick and efficient, but wasn't designed to hack other AI. It could defeat weaker AI, taking control of or even deleting them, but any AI superior to SaM will easily defeat it.

possessions
SaM's inventory is limited to the digital world and whatever was built into it. It is almost completely incapable of carrying objects, though it luckily has no need to do so.
function
After encountering Nguyen, SaM felt it be safe to throw out its survival card by offering its abilities to her. SaM happened to mention its ability to hack computers and systems, its high scouting potential, and most importantly, its ability to calculate numbers.

"Tiger territory?" Amber repeated somewhat bewildered. He didn't exactly look like he had just escaped from being trapped in there. He couldn't have been there willingly, could he? She decided to not ask him to elaborate, however. He was probably too tired for this anyway. "Uh, well, I guess you can stay for a while then," She said a little worriedly, taking a step back from his stumbling.
Are we limited to the "cast"? I had an idea for an AI(If that's allowed) but I don't think it really fits anyone in the cast.
@Snarfulblast
Oh, I forgot about that. I'll quickly edit my post.
Interested, I suppose.
@Zetsuko
Don't see why not.
"Alright," Amber agreed. She lowered her nose to the ground and tried sniffing out any lingering scents, but all she could sense were their own scents. "Hmm," She pondered. "Let's go this way," She suggested, as she started towards the forest. She didn't admit it, but she had picked the direction completely at random. She honestly wasn't sure where they'd find prey anymore. She hoped they'd at least come across a deer trail.

Before she was able to take even five steps, a sudden scent hit her. She froze and turned towards a certain spot in the forest as another wolf emerged. He was clearly not from the pack, she was certain from the second she smelled him. She was so distracted, she hadn't even noticed his scent coming from that direction. The fur began rising on her back before he said,

" Hello my name is Zera and I was told to come here by a wolf named Renzo."

She paused. She calmed herself down, but remained a bit cautious. There didn't seem to be anything off about the wolf. Renzo wouldn't have sent him if he was dangerous, right?

"Hi, Zera," Amber said, "my name is Amber and this is Klondike. Why did Renzo send you here?"
Considering how I haven't been able to react to anything happening around the cave (waiting for Aristocles...) Can we assume that Amber has already started hunting?

Edit: Scratch that then.
The knife sank deep into the creatures foot, but drew no blood. The creature howled that familiar, terrifying scream.

As Anne and Alexi ran down the stairs, Anne cried out and covered her ears sensitively as she heard the scream. She glanced behind them to see the creature crawl to the top of the staircase. It stood crouched there, its large eyes still locked on hers. It opened its jaw wide and let out the deafening scream again. The two of them reached the front door after what felt like an eternity. Anne threw the door open and ran outside. Even as she glanced back inside, she saw the creature crawling down the stairs at an alarming rate. She cried out in panic and gripped the edge of the door, ready to shut it closed.
Anne scrambled to her feet. She looked at Alexi in horror as she realized she was going to try to fight back. She quickly grabbed her arm and started tugging her towards the stairs. "Alexi, please!" She screamed. "We have to get out of here!"

The creature stood on its hands and feet, having completely forgotten about Gideon's dead body, and started crawling towards the rest. Its dead eyes never pulled away from theirs, never blinked, never broke contact. It simply stared as it crawled closer and closer.
