Those that have RP'd with me lately, please take a gaze at my Bio. I finally got around to updating it.

Bio

"I burn endlessly, an intextinguishable inferno within the depths of a storm of passion and grace." Septimus Aureous, Captain of the Turian Frigate: Elysium

I've been roleplaying and writing for a little over half my life, and I'm 22. If I come across as cynical, picky, overly willing to write a huge CS, very inquisitive, and even ready to drop an RP out of nowhere, I apologize. I've seen way too many RPs look good only to end up smashing face first into the dirt with almost no explanation to it. I tend to see an impending crash coming from a mile away and will jump ship long before the water reaches my feet.

I enjoy most genres, including Sci-fi, Fantasy, Magic-fantasy, fandom-reworks, modern, sci-fantasy, and most things under the sun. No. I'm not going to partake in highschool or pony or anime roleplays. Outside of those, I tend to take a part in most of what peaks my interest or curiosity.

I am currently involved in an RP surrounding the exploits of the Crimson Dusicyon and her pirate crew.
As well as continuing the adventures of the manic crew of the harpoon in an infinite quest for dat poon tang.

I am currently working on several short stories that I tend to flip back and forth on depending on where I'm leaning.

I'm working on a story involving an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper trapped beneath a hundred kilos of rubble and, with her life mere hours away from being extinguished, she lets her mind wander to her past and her experiences with the dangerous anti-UNSC terrorists. I've taken to call this: Halo ODST: Rebellion.

I am also working on my most deeply thought out world and story: Sonnet of a Damned Cowboy. A story taking place hundreds of years in the future, where the earth is a barren desert due to the earth being cooked alive. The survivors make their own stories as they drive huge caravans of huge mechs called Lancers and deliver supplies from one town to another.

Finally, I am working on a Fallout based story taking place in the frozen north of Canada, old survivors of the Enclave's oppression struggle to survive in the relentless cold. Battle hardened, tired, and cold. They all know that the smallest of mistakes in the frozen wastes will be almost certain death.

Enjoy your day!

Lead Navigator and 2nd in command: Matthiew "Matty" Grissom
A large man weighing in just under 300 pounds. Matthiew takes pride in being the lead navigator and Captain Renault's second in command. He is not a fighter in any way, so how he exactly help up in the face of insurmountable danger at Renault's side is a mystery known only to him and the captain.

Head mechanic Teddy Grufman.
An toublemaker in his youth, Teddy grew up a farm boy that fixed tractors for a living before taking off when he was sixteen to join an engineering core. He doesn't speak much about his past and the captain doesn't ask considering the man is a wiz with machinery. He and his protege' Nikola have been keeping the engines in tip top shape with barely enough supplies for years.

The sun rose gently over the horizon, basking the cloud sea in a brilliant yellow. Islands hundreds of years old hang in the sky, held aloft by strong gravitational forces. Some have houses and small villages on them. Vegetation left untouched by man since the islands were discovered swings lazily in the light breeze, dropping morning dew to the whipping winds alone. A beautiful, peaceful, morning for the denizens of this sky world.

At least they thought it was at least.

Flying at incredible speeds The airship "Crimson Dusicyon" skimmed along the cloud layer, high caliber bullets flew past the bow, narrowly missing them as the pilot took evasive maneuvers.

"We know we're in capable hands, boss."

The words of navigator Grissom echoed from behind Captain James Renault, whom took a deep breath and yanked on the yolk of the steering wheel, pulling the Dusicyon up and above the pursuing airship. The enemy copied the captain's poorly chosen maneuver, pulling up and was going to meet them at the top of the arch with a hail of bullets. The two came close enough for the captain to be able to see the charging of the enemy airship's plasma cannons. He waited until just the right moment, getting too close into the range of the plasma cannons then, just as the green of the plasma grew to a brilliant neon hue, Renault cut the power.

The ship went dark, the light of the morning sun filling the inside as the crew braced themselves for an imminent hit. The ship stopped mid climb and hung for a moment as the orbs of plasma from the enemy ship went by harmlessly, missing them by several dozen meters. Just as the ship passed, Renault hit the power and the lights came back online. The thrusters flared and they picked up where they left off, but now they were behind the enemy. Now on the offensive, the captain chased after them without remorse, cycling up dual laser cannons on the underneath of the Dusicyon and let them loose. The super heated projectiles impacted against the shields of the enemy airship and broke right through them, searing the wood and melting the metal underneath. He fired again and the lasers tore through multiple hulls and decks, piercing through to the other side and out of the top. They were finished this time as the fuel tank inside the enemy ship ruptured, exploding in a show of fire and debris. The Dusicyon went right through the heart of the ship, destroying anything that might have been left as twisted metal bounced harmlessly off of the shields. Flying high into the sky, the captain uttered a slow, low toned, laugh that sent chills down the spine of the navigator behind him, whom was still holding his breath.

"Crewwww mates! Ateeen-SHUN! Captain Renault on DECK!" The navigator snapped to attention, his hand forming a strong, loyal, salute on his forehead. No less than sixteen men and women stood on the dock in front of the ramp leading up to the great Crimson Dusicyon. The Captain, James Renault, looked down from his perch on the ramp, his rifle in hand and his sword on his hip. He looked like a swash buckler of old, but the three lights on his eye patch reminded the men and women around him that he was no fool of the seas. His voice was slow and methodical, low in pitch and had a cool and even tone. One could tell from his voice that he was a veteran of several years and he had gone through many a crew. You hoped you wouldn't end up like the last.

"Ladies, gentleman, sirs, madams, citizens. From this day forth, you are none of these things. From this day, nay, this moment onwards. You are sky pirates. Wolves of the cloud sea. There is no master at the end of your strings, no monarch to tell you how to live. No president to steal your rights. You are free men and women. Free to choose. Free to live. Free. To. Die. If you are afraid of being free, afraid of the dangers we will face, afraid that at any moment your life can be taken away from you by the hand of fate, afraid to die. Then leave. If you can look me in the eye and tell me that you are free and that you are not afraid, then you may board my vessel and join me."

Welcome, crewmen and crew-women to Aether: Legend of the Crimson Dusicyon! Here, the skies are as open as your imagination and there are adventures to be had every day! This is a cyberpunk RP where we play as pirates under the command of captain James Renault (Ren-oh) on his prized ship: The Crimson Dusicyon. There are a few things I would like to address before we begin, so heads up!

  • 1-1.5 Paragraphs per IC post. Make a post as long as you want but it has to be 1-1.5 or above. If there are complications with that, such as writer's block and RL issues, we'll have a campfire and talk about it. Please try to make a post at least once a week. You are free to post more than that.
  • Character sheets MUST be detailed. Please, go nuts with your CS! I don't want to see anybody's character sheet being small and miniscule. Tiny CSs without any care or love put into them or are very poorly done will be denied. Don't just write a character, write an extension of yourself that you love and will stay with for a long time!
  • If there are any squabbles or disagreements, be civil. I'm usually pretty lenient for OOC chatter, it's a meeting place where we can chill and talk and roleplay, like a plaza. IF however a fight breaks out over something, either take it to convo or agree to disagree. We're all buddies here, no need to be slicing out jugulars. This applies to etherpad as well.
  • If you have to disappear for a time, please let me know via PMs or OOC! Real life stuff happens. I'll be the first to admit that since I have a crappy job with crappy hours. Let me know what is going on. I am more than happy to work with you and making things work.

If you have any questions about the roleplay, the world of Aether, myself, or anything else in particular, I'll always be happy to answer. An Etherpad has been provided so we can talk and collab as we see fit. The use of this pad is not required, but is encouraged!

Before I present my CS, I wish to address several things for you to keep in mind as you make your characters.

More lore may be added as we go. Please post characters in the OOC first until they are approved.

Hey guys and gals. I've put down a tracker for my current progress on the OOC. It's in the Cafeteria if anybody would like a look at how I'm coming along. Now's a good time to come ask me questions, if you have any, and chat while I break a bit and brainstorm.

I'm going to continue work on the ooc soon after I get home today. No eta yet as I want to get the ooc ready, as well as characters and npcs, and an IC ready. Though I may hold off on the IC due to the influx of people. Should give me enough time to ready it quickly.

Anyways, it shouldn't be too long. I'll keep everyone posted on what's going on.
I'm particularly fond of 4, perhaps with a couple dashes of 2 or 1. Maybe we're not the only ones trying to get down, and we get to face some competition in addition to whatever happens to be down there?

I'm in :b A mix of one and four please. I get the feeling everyone here is getting that adventure itch.

Seems to be split right down the middle from my perspective. I'll see if I can combine one and four in a creative way.
Hey crewmates, I'm beginning prepwork on the OOC for this. Going with idea one and already have ideas inbound. Because I like to take my sweet time with an OOC, don't expect it tonight. It may be up tomorrow after I get home from work.

Until then, I have set up a Primary Pad That you are free to visit if you wish to discuss and talk and chat. I'll be there while I work to take ideas and chat in between typing and researching.
The first idea is lookin' pretty good right now.

Notice: I go to boot camp, starting on the 12th, and I will be there for around 7-9 days. Hopefully we can work something out.

Oh that won't be a problem. Your character will be either A: Be sent away for reasons of PLOT, or B: Minor controlled by me or a co-gm.

(From PM)

I was curious if there was any technology in the way of Biotech.
Synthetic, grown appendages and organs and the like.

<Snipped quote by Hawlin>

There are, but there aren't cloned people or resurrections. Cybernetics are also a thing.

So, I've been really trying to come up with a decent story to focus on as I want to oil up my old GM wheels and I've had this one world idea rolling around for a while, but I've been having an issue with creating the story and things to do.

The world I'm thinking of is a sky-based world. Floating islands dot the entire world, hanging via gravitational placement above a sea of clouds called the "Aether" by the denizens. What everybody believes is that below the cloud sea is literally nothing. Nobody tries to go down into the sea as ships are blown apart by the 200-400 mile an hour gusts and localized tornados. Even with advances in aviation technology, no attempts are ever made.

Speaking of tech, it's mostly cyberpunk. Due to having abundant resources via both solar energy and exploiting the catastrophic winds below to create wind energy, there has been no real need or desire to look to the stars. Food is plentiful, water is harvested via natural springs and evaporators, and no faction hates each other to the point of wanting WMDs. Travel between islands are done via "Cloud Surfers." A slang for ships and jets that utilize jet engines (Fighters and personal craft) and props (Large barges and galleons) powered mostly via solar energy (And reserve energy during the night).

With the creation of the Cloud Surfers came the primary problem that plagues the island nations: Sky Pirates. Brigands, slaves, and mercenaries that have formed several hundred gangs that all try to do nothing but kill each other and raid cities for supplies and fresh recruits. They all base themselves somewhere out there on some island in the cloud sea, but tracking technology only goes so far.

In addition to the Cloud Surfers, there are plenty of other types of technology that make this a cyber punk. Prosthetics, robots, holograms, holo-gear, high powered weapons, food synthesizers, top-notch medicine, the list goes on.

Now, world is in place, I just don't know what type of Roleplay to go towards.

  • I could take it down a buccaneer route. Our characters are all pirates that were recruited in some way. Offering of services, slavery, for smiles. We would have several rival gangs trying to kill us as we tried to claw our meager way towards the top of the food chain and take on the most dangerous of pirates around. A cyber-punk-like black beard.
  • The second idea I had would be a bit more mundane with the construction with a prophecy and such that our characters ex-machina'd ourselves into. Not big onto this idea, to be honest.
  • The third one I had would essentially turn this into a City RP. If you don't know what a City RP is, it's a type of RP where it's sort of a sandbox. Anybody can do anything and there is no plot, just character development and stories we come up with individually or together.
  • The last idea I had is an explorer's type of RP. Where we are all travelers that ended up together or something and we're trying to find a way below the Aether and see if there really is nothing down there.

I'm torn between the first and third ones honestly. Now that I think of it actually, we could probably combine 1, 3, and 4 if we want. Maybe Shoehorn 2 in if you guys and gals call for it. Just post below what sounds most interesting or what ideas you have as well. Everybody's welcome to submit ideas. Whatever route we choose, I'll put a lot of hard work into it with the presentation and execution. The OOC will NOT go up until I have seen to having every graphic prepared and the first post ready to ship, all so we can keep the motivation ball rolling down the 85 degree angle hill.

I should mention though what you can expect going into one of my RPs.

@boomlover: 77 for magic roll. We're getting so much magic users. Looks good for now.

EDIT: If you all wanna start up, be my guest.

Well, to be honest, I was considering joining Paracom to surprise my partner (irl) and write up a CS as the idea behind Paracom was nicely constructed and well thought out. I love Xcom and while the Paranormal aspect of RPing never piqued my interest, I was willing to give this a shot.

Then you accepted garbage.

Good day, sir.
