@Crow I was considering magical girl-y things, but I've got a few other ideas, if there's concern of overlap. This really isn't the place for me to go full Nanoha, chances are.

@Lurking Shadow
I'll definitely keep an eye on things and see what comes to me. I do have a question about things, though. We're definitely starting more at the "street" sort of level, it seems like, but are there plans to end up at higher levels of character power/influence? Sort of going up to Justice League and dealing with cosmic threats and other such things some of the time. Though, that might be too long-term to worry about, anyway.

I do have some general character ideas more on the cyborg/technology powers side of things, and might need to figure out just how much ridiculous scientific progress is likely to end up acceptable.

And on antagonists, one fun thing a tabletop superhero game ended up doing is sort of every player had one bad guy associated with their character that they cooked up, and one that someone else did, which was a pretty fun little exercise.
Hana Yun
James Porter

Her business with the paper concluded, Hana placed a second call that evening, asking the operator for one Mr. James Porter. Hopefully, he wasn’t busy this evening. That he might not be in didn’t even cross her mind.

On the other end of the call, James was already setting up his lab from his luggage. He didn’t bother the night before, he didn’t need it, he already had a fair bit in his kit for anything he might need. He had just finished setting up when the phone for the dormitory rang. He came out of his room to pick it up. ”Good evening, James Porter here, who is this and what is the purpose of this communique?”

“Good evening,” Hana returned the greeting. “This is Hana Yun, we met the other night. I ran into your roommate earlier today and he mentioned you were interested in some form of collaboration?”

“Why yes…” James was surprised that Bang found Hana so soon. “… I was thinking of forming a collaboration between the three of us regarding some research I wanted to conduct. Pardon if it all was a bit hasty. I had to make a few quick assumptions about your own course of research-“

James paused for a moment to start the brewing process of the sleeping concoctions Jeanne requested. “… Sorry, as I was saying. I had to make an assumption that you have some background in the medical or chemical field. I too specialize in such things. Mostly pharmaceutical of course, if you remember.”

“You did mention that the other night. Also something about being a…perfumer, if I recall?” It was worth bringing up, though he did mention motivations beyond simple fragrance. “I wouldn’t be surprised if you heard from some of the other students that my own work is in a similar vein, actually. I did a bit of showing off at the ball.” That he’d made a good guess was certainly not out of the question, either. “Most of my research involves pharmaceuticals, though I dare say I’ve taken a very different approach. All the more reason to work together, by bringing in different perspectives.”

“I haven’t set up a laboratory yet, myself. I don’t suppose you’ve already secured space for your own work, have you?” An innocent question, and a good lead in to where and when they’d meet.

“My lab is set up already, I was busy setting it up when I came back from a short stroll. Perhaps our dorm would be a good place for a meeting, perhaps in the evening? I have some appointments to keep in the morning and the afternoon.” James replied. He wasn’t expecting to hear from Hana so soon. His book is filled with appointments, Jeanne, Bunga, now Hana. Another person would’ve been quite elated to have appointments with so many women, but not when it was business related.

“Tomorrow evening sounds good. I’ll see you then.” There was no reason to be too concerned with formality or arguing about where and when, as far as Hana was concerned. She’d have the day to do as she pleased. “Oh, I will need to know where your dorm is located. Let me find something to write on.” It didn’t take her very long to produce a pad of paper and something to write with. Any student would be a fool not to have plenty of both handy, and it wouldn’t do to forget her own appointments, either. This might even be the sort of thing she could look up, but it never hurt to ask.

James gave her the directions to the dorm. It was quick and simple either way, ”That should be everything. I look forward to seeing you again miss Yun. Do have a good night.” He hung up after saying that.
This seems neat, especially with the freedom to have whatever origin one wants. I tend to think that's much more fun and true to the spirit of the genre than enforcing a common origin for every character.

I probably shouldn't join as it's another plate to keep spinning, but I'm interested. At the worst, maybe I could contribute some NPC villains or something.
Nope. Got no character ideas, so not much point in forcing it.
Mostly, it'd be figuring out a character concept to go with (including servant, chances are), and deciding whether or not I have the time to do another RP.

I am pretty familiar with FGO proper, and no stranger to wiki-diving to get the gist of things, so should be fine. Also, honestly not all that worried about personally breaking rules of the setting, since the biggest rule seems to be that Nasu breaks every established one of his all the time.
A Fate RP that's focused on not being a grail war? Could be interesting. Though I'm also not a huge expert on all the setting stuff. So I'll probably struggle on needed accuracy, especially for making a Mage act properly or have the proper sort of skills, etc. etc.

Still, could be fun to do grand adventure stuff in the setting, so I hope it goes well.

Hana returned to her room as the evening wore on. It would be good to investigate the island by night, as doubtless several of her fellow polymaths had already, but she was in no hurry to do so. Jeanne's alleged activities of the previous evening didn't have her particularly excited to explore without full preparations.

And besides, she had a few things to do during a night in. The first, was calling after one Angelo Beloco. The second, while she was at it, would be getting in touch with Mr. Porter. If he was interested in a collaboration, it was worth arranging things with him, as well. So it was that, some time after dinner, she sat down next to her telephone to ask the operator to connect her. Hopefully, nobody was otherwise engaged at the time.

While she couldn't tell if her distraction would last the full time the others would need, Hana did lead the officer on quite the tour of the area. Eventually, she would have to let the ruse go by, so she took an opportunity during one of the searches to plant and "find" her wallet. Thank goodness she had just dropped it somewhere, it could have been a much bigger disaster.

She'd have to regroup with the others later, to see how things went, but it was getting late in the day, and she had her own things to do, if she could. The rest of the day,she spent her time getting more familiar with the lay of the land, and carefully investigating into the island's only, brand new news publication. She started with the obvious, reading the paper again and keeping an eye out for any official addresses for offices or similar. If they have a section for advertisements, for instance, they would need a place one can request them. If that didn't work, it was time for the old shoe leather approach, and that took much more time.

Worst came to it, enough asking around might have someone come to her. Though that scenario would be disturbing in its implications. certainly, there was a need for additional reporters, regardless.

Hardly into the restaurant before they had to leave again, though on a far more interesting venture. Hana could go hungry for a while without much difficulty, but no use worrying about it too much. She did at least ask if they could deliver the food to her room, so it wouldn't go to waste.

The conversation on the way over surprised her, a bit. "Why yes, I think I did make the acquaintance of a Mr. Porter last night," she answered Bang's question. "I'm certainly not averse to any collaborations, as I think that's the point of being here in the first place, no? Please let him know I'd be happy to meet with him and discuss research." She did her best to curb her enthusiasm at such a stroke of luck, but even without her own reasons, there was no point to turn down invitations to collaborate.

"Hm," Hana briefly considered the situation. "I'm sure I can do something about the officer, if we need to. Though, if this is connected with the whole affair from last night, one could also try a claim of official business." She paused to consider how one might prove it. "Provided, of course, you have some official deputization or the like."

She probably was the best choice for the job, not that her companions would know it. She had a few ways to be subtle about disabling or otherwise manipulating someone, after all. Though, the less she'd have to do, the better. "Just in case, I'll see if my feminine wiles will be enough to see things through."

Hana waited a bit to see if her suggestion of just claiming an investigation bore fruit, before going ahead with her own plan to be a diversion. As she approached, she quickly worked herself up into quite a flustered state. "Excuse me! Officer," she called out, once she was in sight and the others were, hopefully out of it. "I was hoping I could find someone, you see, I need help. My wallet's gone missing, could you help me look for it?"

"It's nice to meet you, as well." Hana nodded after Valeriya's introduction. Weapons manufacture was quite the area of expertise, but not unusual by any means. There were probably many such people on Bermuda, from across the globe. Why, just from that there was no way to even guess miss Zhukova's major. Anyone from a technologist to even an egoist, should they focus on forging starmetal, could claim as much.

She did, naturally, raise an eyebrow at the admission of weapons development, but made little further comment. "Now that you mention it, I should see if there's any workspace near the hospital, so I could put my talents to use. Hm," she paused to consider things, "I suppose something of a chemistry laboratory could be useful, too, but I can worry about that later."

"And, lunch sounds wonderful. I haven't eaten yet either. I dare say there's too many options for anyone to have found personal favorites just yet, so should we try anywhere nearby? Outside of trying all the different kinds of cuisine the world has to offer, I can't say I have anything that particularly strikes my fancy, today." She would, in fact, simply choose a place at random. And, as they wandered, that place happened to be the same Japanese restaurant already occupied by several of the other students.
