Perhaps the finest of all the merchants that I have encountered in my years of traveling is one Herman von Guidelines. Truly, no other man is so fair with his prices and so generous in his bartering to impoverished travelers. He has been a light in the darkness, a shelter from the bloodthirsty merchants who would see a young bard left without so much as his clothing.
I'm generally not a huge fan of mind control or mind reading as abilities, they just generally lead to frustrating situations for everyone (both the person who's character has said abilities and the person who's character is subjected to said abilities).
Perhaps, I've just had bad luck, but I've never seen them used in a balanced manner.

@Vigfast: Wikipedia and tears. Even I can't work through the high-level linguistics major stuff. I'm too plebeian for that.
I feel your pain, I've only ventured to discuss linguistics with a linguist researcher once or twice and it was not conductive to my sanity.
I mean, if you can stomach the time and effort, my compliments, but damn if it doesn't require tomes worth of reading research to really figure a constructed language out.
I'm hoping I don't need to help people pronounce The Green Knight, although I was tempted to go with the Finnish spelling of Vihreä Ritari just to spice things up.
Gotta' love the Finns and their love of using so many consonants or vowels that it hurts.
Thinking of names, languages or rather languages that actually make linguistic sense are probably some of the hardest things to create for an RP. However, I'm happy to leave creating fictional languages to linguistics majors with too much time on their hands.
