Current You've heard of BBW and BBQ, but have you heard of BMW? Neither have I, they never signal their turn.

Bio

Thank you for visiting my biography.

I am just a typical Aussie Young Adult juggling social life and work at the same time.

I have not roleplayed in years. I thought maybe I'll re-login once in a while and see how the Guild is going.

I have lost touch with the friends that I've made while I was a resident here. Those of you who were my friends, know that I enjoyed my time roleplaying with you and I hope that it is mutual.

I hope to see you in another life.

Trying to reserve the first X posts in OoC or chat-style free roleplay can do it, for instance.

If you calculate the amount of time for you to be interested in a Roleplay, and then navigating to each one and reserving-- it would still be considerably slower than a bot posting at 24 posts a minute.

To be faaaair, I don't think the bots post that many either. But still, I don't see it being a huge human restriction.

Well no but still people could be pretty fast

I was observing the new users section yesterday. Some of these bots post 24 posts within 1 minute. I'm pretty sure a normal human would not be able to do this.
But how about members though that post regularly pretty fast? Wouldn't they get muted?

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't post 30 posts within 4 minutes.
Jesus christ. These spambots.

Finishing up the nuke button, but once I deploy it I'll have to immediately start working on a real rate-limit. Something severe in the short-term, like at least requiring newbies to create a Newbie Introduction thread first.

Queue the "One Winged Angel"?

Play the Drama Button??

(Not directed at you, @VKAllen)

I think what @Ellri is getting at is two things.

Firstly reporting here is not the right thing to do considering this is the news section and we do have a report section elsewhere (ie: reporting here is basically spam on the member's behalf.

Secondly, there is no need for people to micro-mod when a moderator has clearly stated that they are working to remove the problem wherever possible. Micro Modding is more like noise and will sometimes distract the mods if they are mentioned and called all over the site to random pages that several others are already linking them to.

Fair Point.
You do realize that the mods automatically get a list in their private area with all new users and a few details about them, right?
There's generally no need to list them up here.

I do. According to Mahz, he's developing something that would add an extra detail that would help combat against this issue.

... what?

A+ For the acting though.

A Druid ain't 'round cities much.
Holy crap this is still happening...

Yep. They're doing as best as they can to implement a new system to bust these dudes.

Question is who is going to click? I'm going to be like: meh

And the mods will be like: "Meh." *Delete*

The target audience is what they're missing entirely in this forum (since most of us will understand that clicking links from spammers like these is clearly malicious).

As for those elderly people who fall in to the trap... Well... Yeah.

Their targets are most likely ignorant people.
Seriously, who whould go throught the trouble of programming things like that? Just to annoy people like us?

Believe it or not, it is the exact reason. Oh, and no publicity is bad publicity. All they want is to put whatever they have in them to be clicked on and viewed. How they'll get those does not matter with them.
