S&E | Golem's Day, The New Master Makes His Vow
In a land far, far away lies the kingdom of Fiore, a small, peaceful nation of 17 million, and a place filled with magic. Found in every home, bought and sold in every marketplace. For most magic is merely a tool, a mundane part of everyday life. For some, however, magic is an art, and they've devoted their lives to its practice. These are the wizards. Banded together into magical guilds, they ply their skills in search of fame and fortune. Many such guilds dot the landscape of Fiore. Two guilds who have become synonymous with amazing feats reside in the confines of a lake, calling the town of Luna Crescente home. Where they lay on the map being the only thing they have in common, a strong rivalry has divided them in their ideals. Harpy's Wing and Golem's Hand. Crossing paths has only resulted in clashes and disputes. A new chapter is opening and the question is, when their paths cross next what will be the result?
The weather was inviting, not even the most stubborn of shut-ins could resist stepping outside. The sun shined down on the town of Luna Crescente. As the light reflected off the clear waters that surrounded and weaved through streets the town seemed to sparkle. The breeze was pleasant and Luna was alive with activity. Golem's Hand, one of the two guilds residing in the lake town was having a festival, celebrating its fourth anniversary. Food, games, entertainment, the whole nine yards. Despite the guilds stern and hardened appearance, they knew how to provide a good time for the townsfolk.
The only people who could potentially not enjoy the festival was Golem's rival, Harpy's Wing. Harpy's guild hall sat in the middle of the crescent shaped lake surrounding the town. A perfect harmony of nature and architecture, the guild hall was built into the trunk of a massive tree. While they were at odds with Golem, that was hardly a reason to not enjoy such an event. Harpy was a guild built upon harmony, making them the proactive side in trying to bring some sort of peace for both guilds, though maybe a stronger effort could be put forth.
Whether Harpy's Wing and Golem's Hand could ever find themselves on good terms or not is yet to be seen. For now, the festivities and happiness of the towns inhabitants is what's important. Not only was Golem celebrating their fourth year as a guild but also the official inauguration of the new guildmaster.
"ROOOAAAR!" The vulcan wailed ferociously as it barred down upon a defenseless young boy. The boy tried to cry out but his voice was stunted in his throat. The vulcan raised his fists and dropped them attempting to crush the boy. Suddenly, there was a yellow flash and the vulcan's hands made contact with only the cobblestone street of the small village. Dumbfounded, the big ape looked around anxiously for his prey. Finally, his eyes settled on the back of a white haired teen handing the boy over to his father.
"Sorry I cut it so close. I was making sure the rest of the villagers were safely out of the way. I didn't know there was anyone still cornered by the vulcan." The man seemed to ignore the teen's apologies and held his son close. "Thank you thank you!" Just then the little boys eyes became wide with fear. "I-It's coming!" A gloved hand rested atop the boy's head and he suddenly became much calmer as he looked at the face of one it belonged to.
"Don't cry. I won't let him hurt anyone~ I give you my word..." The white haired teen beamed a grin at the boy that evaporated all worry from his body.
The vulcan was right on top of him now. It roared and cocked back a punch only to be suddenly hit by a spinning vortex that sent it hurling back. The teen's body then started to glow with with a brilliant light and before the man and his son could register what had happened the young wizard had flew away from them with incredible speed and caught the vulcan midair with an elbow that sent it crashing into a nearby house. The snowy haired mage touched the ground and continued to radiate that brilliant light while the spinning vortex touched down next to him and dispersed to reveal a large orange furred wolf with drill decorating it's body. This teen was The Shining Sun of Harpy's Wing, Kyuuten Rallis. It was clear by the glow his body, one of the reasons he earned the title.
"Hehe, see~?" Kyuuten looked back at the kid with the same bright and warm smile he did a minute ago. That was the second reason why he was given the title. His boundless energy and positivity along with the warm, welcoming air about him. Finally, the vulcan pulled himself from the rubble and looked very pissed off.
"Look sharp, kid." The drill covered wolf uttered gruffly. Kyuuten turned back to the job at hand and nodded.
"Yeah, let's take care of him quick Getsu. I don't want miss the party back home~" He said as he adjusted his gloves.
For some the feud between the two guilds of Luna Crescente wasn't enough to keep them away from a good time. Including the ever joyful beaming ball of sunshine known as Kyuuten Rallis.
"Watch your head~!" Winding back the snowy haired Harpy wizard threw the ball and knocked down one of the targets in the stand. A few feet away stood a girl who looked the part of the general image of a wizard, pointed hat included. While staying out of the way of the crowd she seemed engrossed in the magical text being projected in front of her. Suddenly, a small teddy bear penetrated the floating pages.
"He's cute, right~?" Kyuuten gave her his usual cheery smile.
"I wish you wouldn't do that while I'm reading. But...yes he is very cute." She said taking the bear in her hands.
"How'd you win it?" Kyuuten pointed over his shoulder the game stand he was just at.
"Hehe, I knocked over Mozu~" Looking over his shoulder, Pyrrha could see the stand runner resetting the cardboard cutout of their guildmate alongside others.
"You know, this only proves my point that we shouldn't attend Golem's anniversary festival..." She sighed.
Kyuuten Rallis, a member of Harpy's Wing and the guild's resident Celestial wizard. Pyrrha was his closest friend and first Celestial spirit he ever contracted with. She liked to hang around the using her own magic power so the two were often together.
"It's fine, the festival has nothing to do with us. Golem is celebrating the day they were formed not our little skirmishes." The two walked around the festival, Kyuuten clearly unbothered by Pyrrha's concern as he sauntered on relaxed and with his hands on the back of his head.
"I think the stand you won this from begs to differ." Pyrrha knew she wouldn't be able to change his mind. Kyuuten has been Harpy's most proactive member in trying to be more friendly with Golem. He didn't see the rivalry between the two guilds being to prove who's better as much as it was to push each other to become stronger. That was just the way the young wizard's mind worked. While his excessively bright attitude could be a source of worry for Pyrrha, she couldn't help but find it endeering.
"C'mon let's grab a bite. I can smell that sweet sweet festival grub from here~" Pyrrha sighed and nodded with a slight smile.
