Kate dresses very boldly. She will throw together any combination that she thinks will compliment her. She tries to avoid black because her mother always referred to black as a funeral color. Kate also likes to wear really bright colored shoes. She could be dressed in a light blue romper but she would still put on a pair of bright red flats. When she has to dress up, Kate will wear a dress, she really hates boring necklines so she will wear dresses that are questionable just to get the interesting neckline.
Kate has very light blonde hair. But the color of her hair differs in the lighting. In some lighting her hair looks nearly white and in other lighting it looks rather yellow. Her eyes are blue but not in a way that stands out, they could almost pass as grey if seen at a glance. Kate has very pale skin so it's extremely obvious when she's blushing. This does not come in handy when she's talking to somebody that she likes. In fact, Kate hates this quality about herself, not because it shows her emotions but because she doesn't have any control over it. Face claim to Emily Kinney.
Personality
Positive- Patient, tolerant, loyal, bold, dependable, and accepting.
Negative- Naive, impulsive, restless, and credulous.
Mannerisms: Playing with her ring, applying chapstick, and she speaks with her hands.
Sense of Humor: Kate has a good sense of humor but a lot of the time she won't realize when an innuendo is said. Not because she doesn't understand the joke but because of the way Kate was raised. She does have an affinity towards puns.
Basic Personality: Kate is an easy going person, she'll try to make conversations with people when they're sitting near each other and both alone. Her first instinct is to try and befriend a person. In a lot of instances, Kate is a little too trusting but she doesn't think of that as a bad thing. Kate is also very open, she doesn't feel embarrassed or self conscious telling things about herself. Her friends can basically read her like an open book, there's nothing hidden about her. Also, when it comes to her friends, Kate is fiercely loyal. She will defend her friends extensively if someone is making fun of them or picking on them for whatever reason. However, she doesn't like to admit it when one of her friends does something against their friendship, she views it as something of a slap to the face.
History
Birthday: November 20, 2004
Birthplace: Ceredigion, West Wales
Birth Parents: Margret Washington and Damen Grey
Guardians: Margret Washington and Alice Grey
Kate's mum, Margret- who was a witch, got pregnant when she was only 18. Kate's dad, Damen, went to university in the United States while Kate stayed with his mother, Alice, in Wales. When Kate was five she went to the hospital to visit Margret's estranged father. While Kate was in the room with him, he died. After that, she and her mom moved to Georgia, United States, where her dad had gotten a job at a prestigious law firm.
Kate grew up in the United States, which gave her a mix between a British and Southern accent. This made her stick out even more than she already did. Kate didn't have it easy with her random outbursts of magic. There was one time when she was eight when she was in school. Some of the other children were picking on the way she said chips instead of fries. One of them grabbed her arm and her body felt threatened and burned the kid's hand. Kate got in an extreme amount of trouble for that. Despite that she learned to like it in Georgia, she made friends. However, when she was around ten, Margret decided they were going back to the United Kingdom so that Kate would be able to go to Hogwarts.
When they got back to the United Kingdom, Margret and Damen decided to make Alice Kate's other guardian, just in case something happened and someone needed to make decisions about Kate and Margret wasn't there.
When Kate arrived at Hogwarts for her second year she was startled that she could see the thestrals. When someone explained it to her it began to make more sense. She was intrigued by the creatures but they also somewhat frightened her. There was an aura to them that sent shivers down her spine.

This brief piece takes place when Kate was five, she was visiting her mother's estranged father in the hospital.
Kate waited by the side of the bed. She watched the heart monitor slowly graph out the dying breaths of a man she didn't know. Her mother said that he was a family friend, but Kate felt there was something more to it. Kate swung her legs on the chair, making it spin in a circle. She had found the swivel chair very early on in this visit and had refused to sit in another chair.
"Peggy?" The man groaned from his bed, his eyes barely opened. Kate immediately began to wonder who Peggy was. Slowly, she approached the man's bedside. The monitor she had been watching before was beeping more frequently.
"Peggy?" The man asked again. This time Kate noticed he was talking to her. He thought that she was Peggy. What was she supposed to do? She didn't know who Peggy was.
"I'm very sorry, sir. My name's Kate, I'm afraid I don't know who Peggy is," Kate told the man in her most grown up voice. "I can ask my mom."
"That's quite alright Kate." The man shifted on his pillows and opened his eyes more. "Your name is Kate. Is that short for something?"
"Yes, sir, it's short for Kathryn, my whole name is Kathryn Evelyn Grey." Kate decided she was tired of standing and went to sit on the foot of the bed.
"That's a beautiful name, my wife's name was Kathryn," the man rasped out.
"Where is your wife?" Asked Kate curiously, the old man smiled at her sadly.
"She passed some time ago, little one," the man told her and then sat there in silence for some time.
The man tried to speak again but no intelligent words came out. He began to twitch faster and faster. The beeping from the monitor intensified and soon became one long single, drawn out sound. Kate was terrified, a group of nurses rushed in. One of them picked Kate up and moved her away from the man as the others rushed to the man's bedside. After a few minutes they stepped back and said there was nothing more they could do.
