Half a Rite of Passage and half a way to get readily available soldiers in a world inconstant war, the Conscripting of young men of age sixteen to twenty five is the only way for each of them to have a chance to earn social status quickly in a militaristic civilisation. The women are the only ones giving their status to their daughters, as, in this classical world they live in, women take care of the home and the state and men are forged and thrive in war and conquest. Many men die within these times of Conscription, but the result can be seen clearly: formidable strategists and generals emerge from the fire of this rite, honed to the best of their potential in this dangerous and uncertain environment. Moreover, for young men that see those that survive as heroes, becoming one of their number is an honour.
All men a born brothers, equal, and all boys become men in the fire of war.
This will be a rather stressful coming of age journey, where quests for further support of your fellows and diligent preparation will take even more place than the fighting itself. Your character will bond with his fellow, train, plan, rejoice and despair, but in the end, they will be stronger for it. This is a tale of brotherhood, and this is a tale of a legacy that transcend mortality.
Moreover, I will add a little bit of interest to it, hopefully; The better and more realistically your character do, the better their rank, standing and future available paths. That also means an epilogue that should, if we finish this, end the whole thing nicely.
I think a female version, more political and social oriented, would be nice, if any of you are interested in a parallel roleplay.
