I'm thinking 1:5:100, because there are a handful of mages that aren't bound to a vampire and vampires who have a small group in their possession. This ratio still keeps a slight strain on the vampires but not so much so that if one died, a replacement couldn't be found.

yeah, very rare... And most complaints are ignored anyways soooo. (Vampires are assholes)

If you refuse to give blood willingly, the treaty does not protect you from death. You might mysteriously disappear.... Or not so mysteriously, they'll most likely be made an example of. Specifics on that to come later.

Pretty much... But Vamps weren't about to starve for their sake, so they made a deal where humans can keep living and vampires can keep snacking. Everything else, more or less, happened because social norms dictate certain behaviors. You'd be surprised how much of the rules are more manipulation tactics than real law.

ALSO: updated some of the lore on vampires and mages if you wanted to take a look. Still have some more work to do with lore for the world, including fun little facts that I have no idea where to put them. XD

Please, continue asking your questions. They're fun for me and make great starting points to focus my thoughts. For now, what I've posted should be sufficient to get started.... Right?

Also, to whomever asked the questions about the world before.

Yes, modern medicine exists. The year is our current 2017 (however technology has moved slightly beyond us. think clean energy and more efficient). Normal humans know about the whole ordeal.

Population is pretty even amongst humans, definitely more mages than vampires at this current point in time. Vamp Nobles will commonly be seen with whole teams of them... Younger ones might have one or two for a while. The mages that get to just live life unbound from any one particular vampire are required to donate blood to a blood bank on a regular basis... But are, in general, able to do what ever they'd like after they have had their training in the arcane skills. Can't let talent be completely wasted. ^.^
