Meeting the twins wasn't nearly as big a deal for Devin as it would have been for most music fans. He was well aware that they were likely the hottest music act around as he couldn't go though a newspaper without reading their names in multiple sections from the world news to the business folds. They were seemingly the perfect combination of talent, smarts, savvy practices, and all the luck one needs to make it big. As the introductions came around Eric introduced Devin.

"And this is her security for the New York and DC legs of the trip. Devin this is Jason and Josephine. They make up the..."

Devin had to interject as he realized what Eric was about to say. "JJ" he said the twins stage name as he shook Jason's hand and then reached out to Josephine who instead gave him a hug. "It is nice to meet you both. I am guessing that the suits outside were your detail so I was going to go and say hello to them and swap notes." Devin was going to excuse himself from the supposed talent meeting, but then Eric stopped him.

"Actually Devin we were just talking about you." While hearing this Devin felt a quick shudder run up his spine. Whenever Eric was just talking about him it meant he was likely getting roped into something.

Eric then continued. "Since you are the only one with any real New York City experience we were hoping you might now a good place for a pop up concert to happen before we left for DC at the end of the weekend? It is supposedly something that is pretty common now. The night after their last concert in a city groups will do a smaller show at a randomly selected theater and then tweet about it. Social Media networking and all that jazz."

Devin gave a faint smile as he watched Josephine literally take a photo with her phone as they were talking. She then seemed transfixed with texting. "We just want to make sure the vibe of the place is right." She added without looking up from her phone.

"Wouldn't an event coordinator be better to tap for that info."

"Sadly if we try that the information will be leaked way early and it wont be much of a Pop Up Concert anymore." Jason added with a charming all american quarterback smile.

"I can think of a few I guess..." Devin said while rubbing his neck. "Seems pretty hard to do any pre-screen work." This time Devin was interrupted by Eric who thanked him and continued to talk to everyone about getting set and ready for the rehearsal.
This may be a weird thing, but it is okay to just play one character right? I am worried that I might not be "pulling my weight" if I am only playing one.

This is okay right? Or should I step aside for someone who can play multiple characters?

Scene 1: Welcome New Teachers - The Headmaster has summoned all the teachers to a welcome meeting and party one week before the students arrived.
Headmaster Adam Chapeau

The halls were so quiet it almost felt like they were screaming due to the absence of chaos most often delivered by the students. Instead of loud chattering of gossip there was the quiet patterning of the house elves beginning to put the final touches on the school before the students arrived. Headmaster Adam chapeau was walking down from his office and towards the faculty lounge area behind the great hall. He was excited to see how the former students, now teachers would fair in their first year. Not many get a chance to attend school twice for the first time he mused with a smile.

Walking through a few more hallways and down another flight of stairs he opened a door with a smile to see… an empty room. Looking over on the wall he started to frown until he saw the clock which seemed more than happy to show him that he was nearly an hour early to the faculty meeting. While he decided to stay or go back to his office for a bit he let his mind wander and his feet carried him to the great hall. Elves bowed as he passed and he looked around at his magnificent home. The only thing that was really new was the four marble statues near the entrance of the hall. Each statue was one of the founding members of the school.

Excited for what was in store he walked along the tables and to the entrance where the statues stood. He smiled at the exquisite craftsmanship that went into carving each one. He made a mental note to send another thank you basket to the sculpture. As a house elf quickly rushed past him he smiled and gave a friendly nod which was unfortunately not returned due to the elf's face being blocked by a giant bundle of sheets headed towards the Slytherin dorms in the dungeon. He was soon followed by another train of elves loaded down with pillow covers, blankets, and what looked to be toilet paper.

With another 30 minutes to spare the Headmaster made his way back to the staff room and took to the large wing back chair which he sat in until he could begin to welcome the teachers as they arrived from whatever they were doing. He was sure some were busy with lesson plans, cleaning, moving in, or even just arriving. His smile grew bigger with each thought as he realized none of them had any idea what was in store for the students, this school, and its teachers.
World Traveler Playing Devin Coal

Character Connection with Noah

Devin and Noah were quick to make friends due to them being in the same house and being pretty even tempered during the whole first year. Sharing study hall breaks and a few midnight cram sessions together help build a healthy same house friendship through the years.

Due to growing up in a mostly muggle household meant Devin was jealous that Noah had a magical pet and would shower it with love and affection at any chance he got. Staying in touch through owls and the lucky meeting in New York, the two shared the news of their invitation to Hogwarts around the same time.

The friendship continued past their school years, but was primarily kept alive through owls and a fortunate crossing of paths in New York City where they got lunch and drank long into the night while laughing at new and old stories alike. Later they each shared with the other that they had been invited to teach at Hogwarts and had accepted the position. They have since been arguing over what drink they should toast the news to when they arrived at the school.

Character Connection with Thomas

Since they had their first Charms class together Devin and Thomas have had a fairly public rivalry. This competitive spirit between the two wasn't born from resentment or distrust, but instead a simple case of 'boys will be boys'. The friendly rivalry also helped them grow into the young men that they have become as they, through their time at school and beyond, continually pushed each other. If one got a date to a dance the other had to push through nerves and worry of embarrassment and fess up and ask a gal so at least he could say he tried. When one got a mention in the Daily Prophet after leading a successful project in their line of work the other would be unfortunate to receive an extra copy of it mailed to them by the other.

At one point during their time in school the two somehow came to the conclusion that the other was worst at divination. Unfortunately this was a class neither of them had any real talent in. This lead to a two week long contest that involved both of them forcing all their friends to drink tea and compete over reading the leafs. Needless to say it only finally stopped when neither of them were that good and they called it off after they declared everyone who drank tea was going to die, eventually.

Character Connection with Elliot

Elliot and Devin weren't that terribly close during school. Never enemies or friends they were just two students in the same year as far as their opinions of each other went. It wasn't until they connected during one of Elliot's research trips that they started a friendship. Devin was in the process of mapping out a new Impundulu collective and their migration patterns. While in Africa Elliot reached out having been told Devin had experience traveling in the magical community of Africa. They met up and quickly found they enjoyed learning about each others work. They both spoke to them with such energy it got hard to stop them once they got started.

Over the years their friendship continued with each letting the other know when a trip was on their horizon. Sometimes their trips or adventures would line up making for a pleasant surprise while other times they were used as an excuse to travel and see what the other was studying. Their academic friendship makes the fact that now both have accepted the teaching roles extended to them all the more excited for the new adventure in a familiar place.

Character Connection with Bex

Bex is a friend of Noah that Devin knows. That is, for the most part, the extent of their connection as far as either are concerned. Devin has never been overly annoyed by one of her tricks, mostly due to being within close proximity of Noah who was giving him a heads up. They had maybe one or two school projects where they partnered up, but every time that happened they studied with Noah and his partner as well. Truthfully, wand to his head, Devin couldn’t recall a single time the two of them had hung out without Noah.

This may have been due to the fact that Devin never really ‘got’ Bex. Like many he had heard of the weirdness here and there, but considering his Muggle upbringing he never seemed to have a real graph on what was normal in the magical world especially normal according to Hogwarts. One example was in the span of a week Devin approached Noah to ask if Bex had a crush on him, hated him, was obsessed with him, was somehow enraged by his haircut, and had tried to poison him.

Devin had found out about Bex getting the job as the herbology professor through Noah. Considering she helped him pass more than one end of year exam he wasn’t surprised, but did wonder how she was going to handle being the leader of order in a classroom rather than the sower of chaos.

Character Connection with Naia

Naia and Devin have known each other well enough since their second year. That was the first time they were sat close enough to each other in charms class. After you met Naia you would have a difficult time forgetting her. She had a unique skill to throw a net out and wrangle everyone caught by it involved in some sort of tomfoolery. One such time caused a rather awkward situation for Devin that he remembers to this day.

After having seen a unicorn it was widely known that Devin was trying all sorts of ways to see them again. He was approached by Naia who said she would go into the Forbidden Forest with him which caused him much excitement. Unfortunately due to his own inability to understand the opposite sex and some very poor advice from his friends Devin had concluded that Naia had asked him out on a date.

Later that evening after they had left the school grounds under the cover of night Devin began to act a little weird. His nerves seemed to get the best of him during every conversation. The penultimate moment of awkwardness came when they reached the same meadow and after sitting down and relaxing Devin leaned in for a kiss only to have Naia lean back and avoid the act.

For several weeks after that fateful night Devin was too embarrassed to be in the same room as Naia. He finally got over it, but Naia always knew when to have a playful poke at his admittedly accepted expense. She never meant any malice by her bringing it up, but it didn’t stop him from wishing he had just died that night in the meadow.

WORK IN PROGRESS
Apologies for my absence. I was on vacation and was informed that during my trip I would have easy and readily available internet which didn't turn out to be the case. I will be working on our opening scene and have it posted before noon my time! Please if you haven't yet done so get to working on and posting your character connections in the CS section.

I also am free to answer any questions you all might have.

To give you a baseline of where this role play will start here is a quick summary of what I am planning.

Story will start roughly one week before the students arrive. You will be invited (feel free to have fun with how the new headmaster summons your character or sends you a note. Save for sending you a mutilated goat I think what each characters envisions will be totally fine) The reason for the summoning is for the faculty to discuss who will be the new heads of the Houses. Please do not decide or inform anyone to your interest as I will be the one to select and only base it off the arguments or characters shown interest.

Looking forward to kick starting this story with everyone!
Does anyone want to work on some back story between my character and theirs? Considering we have been going to school for 3 years I am guessing some know about each other through student Life, classes, or being checked out at a party.

"Well if you can't win over your family it might be hard to win over a crowd." Devin said after he heard Savannah talk about her biggest fans being her family. When they reached the venue the normal busy of panhandlers, businessmen, food carts, and souvenir sellers made the normal streets a maze. Finally they got to the security entrance and after showing his ID and signing in Devin was allowed to follow Savannah into the Garden.

Once they were inside they traded one chaos for another as they were immediately met with masses of people moving massive sound equipment, cables, and lighting this way and that with people shouting, yelling, and screaming commands of every kind. At one point Devin was pretty sure he heard someone tell another that they were pushing to much and not pulling enough as though the two had to be done at the same time somehow. Still it took a minute to get directions and finally a young woman with a headset ran up to them and told them to follow her.

Normally at this point Devin felt he should simply step back and let the production take over Savannah's schedule which he would do, but instead of leaving her to it and getting a small break for the evening he decided to follow and see how practice and everything else was going. Since he was going to be seeing the show at least 4 or more times he wasn't worried about missing anything, but figured seeing the behind the music documentary unfold live would at least be interested for a few hours.

When they turned a corner and walked into a room a mass of dancers, DJ's and the names themselves could be found waiting for something. When they saw Savannah walk in with Devin a few smiled, but for the most part the energy didn't seem to change that much. People contained to talk and laugh and go about their space. Near the back sitting with the twins was Eric who saw Devin and Savannah and waved them over to him and the Twins.
