S H A D O W C A T
Katherine Ann Pryde, 17 (b. 1951)
Vigilante based in WASHINGTON, D.C., NEW YORK CITY.
Active since approximately WINTER 1963

Katherine Ann Pryde had always been 'on a list.' From the moment in second grade a dodgeball passed through her abdomen it was only reallyp a matter of time before someone made their list known. In Winter on 1963 with the gunshot heard around the world, a president dead and a black van in front of the Pryde family home in Illinois - the course of Katherine's life would be drastically altered. Recruited by shield to be in their second generation of agents, she was trained on black sites from the time that she was twelve to fourteen. This training was in the art of swordplay, hand-hand combat and utilizing her abilities to disarm and destroy any opposition Kitty became a force to be reckoned with in S.H.I.E.L.D. Katherine grew to learn how to socialize, it was a key factor in the success of her missions. But there was a coldness bred in the woman from an early age. Above all else she could focus on the task at hand.

Katherine partook in various missions, mostly in Russia in which he brand of mutation was invaluable for S.H.I.E.L.D. With the ability of 'phasing' or forcing intangibility of her atmoic structure, she was nearly the perfect agent. Taught in Her main area of expertise was infiltration and reconnasaince - an easy task when you may simply lie in wait in the foundation of the building listening to all those who share secrets above you. Due to the nature of Katherine's work, however, she is on leave for at least a month. The more an operative is used, the more the Russians can hear her callsign over a radio wave - or find her handler in Saint. Petersburg.

When Katherine is on leave, she is waitress living in Hell's Kitchen. She keeps a few firearms in her apartment, one in the radiator, anotehr in the toilet tank, another inside of the pillow she lays her head on for sleep at the end of a long day. During her off-days in New Jersey she keeps up appearances as a preppy, somewhat Naive young girl simply trying to make ends meet after running away from her family home in Illinois.

Clearly this is a drastically different take on the character of Kitty Pryde. However, I believe it is one with a great deal of merit as her ability set lends to the spy role so well. I will be developing Kitty Pryde fairly independently of the comic canon - as should be clear by this point, and I just want to reaffirm anyone, feel free to interact with Kitty. When she is in Hell's Kitchen, she is a vigilante and she Kitty. She isn't Katherine until she's on a mission - if this makes sense.

Regardless, the genereal direction I will be taking Katherine is one of international intrigue and other such fun, hope it's a great ride.

“Nice to meet you Mrs. Cirsium!” I said still scarfing down the last bites of my cinnamon bun. Luke turned to me with all the shock of a gazelle, wide eyes, and the whole ordeal. “I just got here now. I’m supposed to be meeting Stella here, but I think she’s running a few minutes behind schedule.” I said with a smile. "I'm holding up alright, thanks."

I tapped my foot on the ground. Things were different now, I'm not really certain as to what that meant which I suppose was part of the problem. It seemed as if I may've interrupted something, so for the time being I simply nodded at Luke with a smile and took a step back so they could continue the conversation. She pulled out her phone to fire off a few quick text messages.

Sender: Lil Miss Perfect/Bianca Nuit
Recipient: Group - Hunter in the streets, Grimm in the sheets (Gratia Mindaro, Lucas Schwarz, Beryl Harken, Jericho Piper)
Message: Hey all!! Just popping in to see if anyone is free for some coffee in about an hour. Hope everyone is having a good family day ~~

Smiling as she heard Luke's phone buzz in his pocket she opened up her messages from Estelle scanning through them briefly before firing off a message asking if she was on her way. Returning back to reality, she felt as if she was... Queazy?

Estelle liked to walk when it was cold out. It wasn't about getting cold, rather it was the idea that she got to get warm afterwards. She really enjoyed that. That recovery process was heartening. She felt her phone vibrate and before she managed to grab it she knew what it was. Realistically, Bianca was being impatient - what else was new. Scanning the phone her sisters name appeared, as expected next to an inordinate amount of question marks and exclamation marks was the question 'when are you coming'. She had a lot of great features, her patience just wasn't one of them.

"In all fairness, she probably got that from me." Estelle said with a brief chuckle to herself making her way to the armory. Walking through the school felt different when you worked there. It completely changed shape. It felt more like a home, which was nice but an unfamiliar feeling to be certain.

She decided that she should buy herself a drink tonight. In order to celebrate.

"Last time I got a proper drink was out at the bar-" She caught on before she managed to verbalize the thought to herself.

Lauren Negasi still had her card.

The details were blurry, but Estelle was pretty sure she exchanged her credit card in order to get her number.

"Shit." She pulled out her phone and immediately found the suspect contact.

Sender: Estellise Sidos Van Heurassein
Recipient: HBG (Hot Bar Girl)
Message: Hey. Uh, this is Stella. By any chance do you have my credit card?

I need it back.

Not too long after I had sent my text Estelle came strolling in looking like a model as usual.

"Hey Stella." I said giving her a quick hug as she warmly returned the favour. She looked a little pale for having been walking in the cold outside. "You alright?"

"Yeah, fine. Might have to cut coffee short - I have an... Appointment, with... Someone at the school." She said glancing over at Mrs. Cirsium's direction. "Ah, sorry to intrude, My name is Estelle - I'm Bianca's sister and I'll be the new Survival teacher."

She also looked in Luke's direction with a warm smile and a nod. Ever since I had joined his team she started to appreciate him a lot more.

"Hello Luke, how've you been?"
For anyone interested and for full visibility: I purchased an ability upgrade for seven credits taking me from 11 - 4. The semblance upgrade can be found in the semblance section of Bianca's CS.

The reason I have 11 credits was I recieved a refund by request for my subplot as my medical situation disallowed me from completing the subplot in any capacity.

Just so people get what's up.

“Of course.” I replied warmly to Gratia’s parents. “Don’t worry, I’m taking care of myself.” I glanced in Jericho’s direction, opening my mouth to start on him. But, he had company and knowing him he’d make himself run to Atlas and back if he screwed this up. I looked back in the Severa and Valentinian with a slow nod.

“I should be off, Stella is waiting.”. I curtseyed once more and bowed my head before beginning to make my way past the group. As I passed Jericho I just gave him a small smile. “It’s good to see you again.” I said avoiding him any humiliation and moving past him.

I slid my headphones back onto my ears, and hummed along as I took a few steps outside. It was definitely starting to get colder. Nothing I couldn’t handle, of course. But still – I had always preferred summer and spring vastly to fall and winter. Though the fashion options did extend a fair amount, in which case a case could be made in my heart as to why fall is the superior mid-season over spring.

On my way to the armory I made sure to snag a cinnamon bun from the cafe taking a huge bite into it. That was certainly a bonus in the cold weather. Warm food was all that much better.

Finding the armory in no time at all I gently tugged open the door and was met with Luke and someone I didn’t quite recognize. I quickly shut the door behind me sneaking in as Luke shook her hand. She seemed to be about 23-25? I was never a good judge of age, but she definitely seemed older than Estelle. Meaning she was probably a teacher or a parent.

“Nice to meet you ma’am, my name is Bianca Nuit, a pleasure.” I said, remaining on my best behavior. Who knows, it could be his mother after all.

I wish you were kidding. But now I totally agree.

Pierre Nuit

Enter Pierre Nuit.

The man standing alone in his smoking room grimaced. The woman attending to his facial hair completed her assured final cut on his moustache before pulling away her instrument, replacing it with a mirror which she held in front of his face.

“Tell me girl, if your father assured that you would take over a wealthy corporation would you at the very least pick up the phone?” His voice was poignant. He did not mince words and he most assuredly did not waste time.

“Yes sir, I would.” She replied. He examined himself in the mirror some before turning his glance on her. His piercing eyes playfully jutting through her exterior.

“Are you calling my daughter irreverent?” He asked, his eyebrow half-cocked.

“No sir I-“she began.

“Well if you had half a mind or a quarter of a back bone, you would.” A silence followed, before he nodded retrieving a scroll from his pocket, shooing her with a subtle flick of his wrist and a direct clicking of his tongue. He dialed his first born daughter.

Estelle was only just waking up. It was not a time at which one should just be waking up. The school was bustling with excitement – it was parent’s day after all. Many students would be excitedly showing their parents around, who knows, perhaps some would request to speak with Estelle seeing as she would be overseeing some of their studies from this point forward.

She sighed as her scroll jolted to life with a sustained jolt. She excitedly nabbed it, hoping to see her new bar friend’s photo come up. Instead it was a picture of a grimm.

“Dad.” She said quietly.

It was parent’s day. She should answer. He wasn’t going to be around forever. She flipped the scroll open, pushing some of her hair out of her face.

“Hello?” She started cautiously.

“Is that how a teacher of Beacon answers the phone?” Her father said, very clearly speaking down to her position.

“It’s an honest job. You know I pay for caller I.D.” Estelle said with short breath, grabbing the half-finished glass of whiskey and immediately shooting it down her throat.

“An honest job.” He said as if holding a horrid taste in his mouth. “Is this what you have become?” He spat. “Where have you hid Bianca?”

“She was on a cruise. I’ll talk to you later.” Estelle said and hung up the phone before her father could protest any more.

Estelle was sure she needed to sleep with someone or go to the bar. No, it was probably both. The thought of her father in the school where she taught fully sickened her. Almost as much as the thought of Bianca spending hours with him. But at this point, there wasn’t much she could do about that. If she tried to be with Bianca it would force Bianca to pick a side, create conflict. At least this way he would treat her like his favourite and hopefully she wouldn’t listen to his usual condescending dialogue that he always used on her.

She decided it was time to get her ass out of bed and get on the move. She told Bianca she’d meet her at the armory, and from there they’d head to coffee. So that was where she started heading.

Nothing really went the way I had planned. Even the cruise was so crazy – it was all just kind of a blur. But don’t worry dearest diary, you’ll get those details soon enough. But today is family day and I’ve got a lot to do. Tonight I have to pick up my father, who will be arriving via private charter, I wanted to visit the Mindaros as they wouldn’t miss the chance to see Gratia, and I should check in with Luke as well – I want to talk to him more often. There is one other boy who I should make time for…

I felt my grin touch the bottom of my cheeks as I softly closed my diary. It was stupid to have a diary, but Luke had suggested it as a way to channel my thoughts and help with my recovery. You could tell it was a good idea because Gratia didn’t immediately roast it over a bonfire. Sitting here in the Jumpercable dorm, it was hard to see how long it had been. It had only been three or four weeks. Who’d blame you for thinking it had been 112 weeks and 5 days? Certainly not this girl.

I casually threw aside my pajamas putting on a large white sweater and squeezing into some jeans. I was supposed to meet up with Stella by the armoury and according to Luke's last text - he was there too. As I left the dorm room I made sure to grab my big scarf, wrapping around my neck a few times. Big sweaters were a must for me, the whole wing thing pretty much made sure of that. It was easier in the summer months when I could just cut wing shaped holes in the back of my shirts, it was even pretty cute, but it just didn’t work out all that well in the winter. Still, being a snowy owl Faunus came with its own set of perks. I had a bit more resistance to the cold and that counted where it mattered.

Throwing my headphones onto my ears, partially for use as earmuffs I pressed the conveniently placed play button on the cord to start my song. Something in Mistralese seemed appropriate today. Although the title was a little ironic I suppose. But before I could hit the doors that would serve as my exit to the dormitory I came across something I did not expect to see.

Well I suppose the Mindaros were to be expected. Beryl too, even Vega was a little- oh Jesus. Vega. Who forgot to dress you today? Come on guys. We have a system for a reason. It works. But there he was. That boy.

“JEEEEEEEEEEEER.”

You could tell just by looking at him. He was thinking of me this entire time.

Oh Jericho.

Never change.

But you Bianca, you need to get your shit together. Flattening out my clothes I quickly took my headphones from my ears and smiled at the Mindaros.

"Mr. and Mrs. Mindaro, please forgive my intrusion. It's amazing to see you again." I said, for some reason my Mistralese accent picking up a little. It had been a while since I had seen Gratia's parents, but they were some of the few people I held truly dearly in my heart. I performed a small curtsy. I always treated the Minaros as if they were royalty, because to me - they were.
Either way though, I appreciate the open arms. I'll do my best to stay vigilent so that it doesn't happen again.
