Work in progress!

For the record, I am more partial to reading a complete sheet as opposed to a work-in-progress one. I've seen a fair few times where people have posted WIP sheets and never finished them.

Some commentary on the applications that have been posted thus far:

@DAWNSTAR:
- I note a set of possible typos of your character's surname in the biography: the Name entry states "Huijara", the bio states "Hijura".

@Nightmare Bunny:
- What's the Shao family crest? It's not described in the sheet anywhere.
- Slightly too much money on hand: "All characters should start with no more than P$2000 in addition to their items, less if they feel like it."
- I note a conflict in the sheet. You (essentially) state in the biography that Sam intends to collect a Pokémon from Ilex Labs before starting his journey proper, but the Starter Pokémon entry states that he already has a Mudkip and there's no mention of said Mudkip in your bio.
- There's the occasional misspelling of Sengun as "Segun".
The thread is up, and can be found here. I look forward to seeing your applications. =)
Warriors of Sengun

A Pokémon Role-Play

The island region of Sengun is home to many unusual things. From its Ten Kingdoms come mighty Warriors, individuals who fight alongside their Pokémon in battle. From ancient ruins scattered across the land come stories: the history of the region. And from all corners come Pokémon that are not seen in other regions: species exclusive to Sengun, from the cute and fuzzy Tailava to the towering Guardient, the elegant Chassécha to the martial Froscadet.

Whether you have travelled here from your homeland or you are a Sengun native, born and raised in one of the Ten Kingdoms, you are an aspiring Pokémon Trainer, here to take on the newest Pokémon League Challenge and rise to the rank of Champion. Our story begins in Regala: the capital Kingdom of Sengun, the heart of the land, home to both Professors Acer and Yang Ilex and the Pokémon League HQ. You have made your way to the Ilex Laboratories to begin your journey, taking the first steps on the road to glory...

----------------

Author's Notes:
- Welcome to Warriors of Sengun. I am your GM; @NeoAC, GM of The Road to Indigo, is co-GMing for me.
- - While I had originally posted this role-play in Casual and marked it as High Casual, it soon became clear that little attention was given, resulting in the thread being buried rather quickly. To that end, I've chosen to relaunch Warriors of Sengun in Advanced, where it will hopefully see more interest and applications.
- This is a Pokémon role-play, set in a new region, and featuring new species. I have designed 51 Pokémon native to the Sengun region from the ground up, all of which have everything a species needs, from physical descriptions to base stats and moves.
- The Sengun region has eight new Gyms, a brand-new Elite Four, and a new batch of villains. All of which will be introduced at various points.
- As stated above, all the characters will begin in the Kingdom of Regala (a map is provided below).
- Warriors of Sengun will follow Generation VI mechanics and learnsets as of Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, supplemented by new moves and Abilities. A handful of "official" species - Pokémon that aren't Sengun-exclusive - also have small updates applied to them.

The Sengun Region:

Image Linked for Convenience

Sengun is split into eleven territories, ten of which are named for the Kingdom that rules the surrounding lands. Each Kingdom, save for Regala, favours two different types of Pokémon, which is evidenced by both the Kingdom's architectural style and the wild Pokémon native to the surrounding territory.

Each of the Ten Kingdoms plays host to both a central city, in which everything from a Palace to a Pokémon Gym can be found. Outside of the cities, in the surrounding lands, wild Pokémon can be found almost anywhere, from city outskirts to ancient ruins.

The Ten Kingdoms:

In the past, many of the Kingdoms occasionally launched campaigns against each other, leading to changes in territory or ownership of lands. This has led to several notable conflicts over the years. As the capital Kingdom of the region, Regala is exempt from the feuding and does not permit inter-Kingdom conflict within its borders. In recent times, however, the Kingdoms are at peace with one another and none currently wish to start the old conflicts back up. This does not stop the royalty, however, from playing politics with - and against - each other.

The eleventh territory on the map, the Wild Untamed, has no Kingdom and no cities or towns within its borders. Instead, there are desert plains as far as the eye can see. It is even untouched by the presence of ancient ruins, which are found in all the other territories. This has led to scholars theorising over the deserts, wondering why they show no signs of population when even the harsh mountains of Dracona are host to structures both ancient and modern.

On Public Transport:
The transportation company SailFlight, run by billionaire William Sail, has set up a network of high-tech airships, allowing people to travel between Kingdoms by air instead of walking the many routes of the region. Trainers frequently use the SailFlight network to travel when they do not wish to be bothered by passersby or wild Pokémon, or if they are taking a long trip that would otherwise take the better part of a few days. As the Sengun region's choice of public transport, SailFlight schedules flights between Kingdoms that are close by one another instead of taking a single flight to cross the entire region. A SailFlight Tower can be found in each of the Kingdoms' major cities, and its Headquarters is found in the Kingdom of Eyria.
(In the interest of public safety, SailFlight does not allow battling aboard its airships, but does allow Pokémon to board a flight without being returned to a Poké Ball as long as their Trainer or Warrior partner can keep them under control.)

Mystriver Isle runs frequent ferry services to transport travellers coming from Verdan, Challena and Montfroza, or vice versa.

----------------
The Sengun League:

Sengun has recently launched a Pokémon League of its own, in the same style as many other regions, and has conducted an advertising campaign across almost every region to draw Trainers, whether beginner or veteran, to the new League. The campaign promises a substantial cash reward for anyone who defeats the eight Gym Leaders, then the Elite Four soon after that, and attains the rank of Champion.

As is tradition in many Pokémon Leagues, Sengun plays host to eight Gyms and a set of Elite Four. The Gyms will be challenged in order according to the table below, while the Elite Four can be faced in any order after reaching the Pokémon League HQ at the top of Regala's Victory Tower.

Gym Leaders:

Elite Four:

The new species exclusive to Sengun, including their learnsets and descriptions, can be found here.

The Sengun Regional Pokédex, which contains every species found in the region, can be found here.

More information on the Ten Kingdoms, including which Pokémon can be found in which territories, can be found here.

I am looking to accept a reasonable number of characters, but previous experience has taught me that I should accept no more than eight characters, including those of myself and my co-GM. Applications should be placed in the OOC tab: those accepted will later be moved to the Characters tab.

Important: Applications will not be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. The quality of your application is what will count the most.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here, or send them to me via private message.

Applications are closing April 9th, New Zealand time.

"This looks like the place... it's a bit bigger than I remember," Adrian mused to himself as he strolled into Pallet from the north, having just passed through Route One. It was only then he realised he was missing something. Specifically, someone.

"Magnus! Come on, dude!"

A loud beep emitted from a patch of grass, followed by a thump and the sound of a low hum strengthening a little. Sure enough, Adrian's Pokémon of choice hovered up out of the foliage, magnets spinning lazily. Magnus flipped over in midair, blinked its one large eye and turned back upright with a flourish to catch up to Adrian. The little Steel-type beeped again, this time a little cheerier - or so Adrian figured, given its slightly higher pitch - as it landed on his pack without much of an effect on the total weight. Chuckling to himself, Adrian pressed on.

"Okay, so the Lab is round the corner from here, past the docks and town hall, top of the hill... y'know, I don't really know many people who use the Pallet docks. I mean, sure, there's a few ships there now, but most turn up in Vermilion... Magnus! Get out of there!" Sure enough, the Magnet Pokémon had flown off to pop open a house's circuit box, presumably to siphon electricity to power itself.

Adrian grabbed his Magnemite by its spherical body and yanked it away from the house before it could do some real damage, hurrying away with his Pokémon secured in his arms. "I keep telling you, mate, you can't go cracking open circuit boxes without me asking permission from the owner. I'm sure we can getcha a few minutes' recharge from the labs before we head back up Route One, yeah?"

Beep.

Adrian took that as an 'okay', and let Magnus back into the air. Thankfully, it just settled down on his shoulder as he kept walking. "Y'know, I'm hoping we're not the only ones visiting the Labs on the last day of registration... that'd be rather awkward. 'Specially given old Prof Oak's disposition these days... I wonder if there's a petition around somewhere to find a replacement for him." Thinking aloud, he completely failed to notice the half dozen or so others with small Pokémon in the area... well, almost completely. Adrian could see a few ships at the docks, whose passengers were unloading and spreading out. Several groups were starting to form about the place; he carefully passed a few people on his way to the Labs, narrowly missing a girl sprinting past towards some other guy.
Alrighty. I've had word from another guy outside of the thread, so this is starting to look like a fair few people are expressing interest. I'll give it a bit more time to see if any more pop up.
@DAWNSTAR: Neato. As I recall, your application was looking rather good. =)

----------------

Edit: In the interest of potentially gathering more interest, I'm reducing the number of new species I've added. The total number of new species is now 51, and I have replaced all of the species that have been removed in this way.
Before Indigo's story gets started, I'd like to take a moment to shamelessly plug the interest check for my own Pokémon RP, Warriors of Sengun. The Sengun region features several new species added to the roster, as well as new 'gameplay' mechanics based on those used in the spinoff game Pokémon Conquest. Also, Neo is co-GMing for it, so it's essentially run by the same people except I'm the one telling the story. =D

(The interest check and main thread were originally posted in Casual, but both got swamped by the speed at which the Casual forums run, so I wrote a better interest check for Advanced in the hope of seeing more people take a look.)
[Raven's Note/Preface: While I have experience in role-playing on other forums, this is my second attempt at posting an interest check and role-play on the Guild site. To that end, I apologise in advance if my decisions are not quite what you might expect from a GM. =)]

----------------

Warriors of Sengun is a Pokémon role-play, set in a new region, Sengun, and featuring 51 new Pokémon in addition to those that have been found in other regions. I've taken great care in detailing as much as possible on both the Sengun region and the new species, and will provide more information on everything in the OOC tab when the thread is launched properly. (The thread is already prepared to be posted to Advanced Role-Plays. I'm used to just putting up a thread as it is instead of needing to place an interest check first.)

This was originally posted in Casual about a week ago, but I've chosen to move it to Advanced where it will hopefully see more interest (and not get buried by the speed of the Casual forums).

Player-characters, including my own, will be beginner Pokémon Trainers seeking to begin their journey on Sengun's Pokémon League Challenge, which has only recently been launched. The Sengun League offers a substantial cash reward to anyone who reaches the rank of Champion, after having bested the Gym Leaders and Elite Four. Of course, as we will discover, Sengun has more going on than just the Pokémon League...

----------------

Co-GM: @NeoAC has agreed to fill the role of co-GM, much as I do for The Road to Indigo.

Participants: Previous experience has taught me that the total number of participants should be no more than seven or eight, including myself and my co-GM who has already expressed interest in the story I plan to tell. So we're looking for five or six more to sign up. Acceptance will not be on a first-come-first-served basis; the quality of the applications is what will count the most towards getting in.

Posts: Post length is less of an issue than posting frequency. I'm not the strictest Advanced-level GM out there: average post length should probably be somewhere in the two to three paragraph range. (Collaborative posts will definitely add to post length, and are more than welcome.) As for frequency of posts, I'd like to see a somewhat frequent post rate: participants shouldn't take more than two weeks to get things done.

Mechanics:
- Warriors of Sengun will follow Generation VI mechanics and movesets as of Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. The new species have been designed to fit into the same style.
- When it comes to things like battling or catching Pokémon, there are no dice rolls, tricks or loopholes to worry about; it's all up to the writer to detail what their character does. If you want to win a match, you describe how you win. A player-vs-player match, however, should be discussed between the appropriate participants before writing.
- I will update the levels and moves of all characters' Pokémon on a regular basis. Subjects like levels and base stats will not be discussed throughout the role-play. We're borrowing some of the style used by the Pokémon anime in this way.
- Including the new species that I have designed, there will be about 300 Pokémon available to choose from over the course of the story. I've restricted the numbers because I don't want to keep tabs on each and every species, especially since I've added to the total.

----------------

The basics of the character sheet template are as follows. (A proper, descriptive version of this template will be available in the full version of the thread, as some parts need context to be properly understood.)

Questions, comments and interest are all welcome. =)
