Alright. It's time, I feel, to get this show on the road. The accepted characters, other than mine, are as follows:

Robyn Springs

Riyu Hsia

Nathaniel Huijara

Feel free to copy your characters over to the Characters tab. Unfortunately, @Nightmare Bunny has PMed me to let me know that they have had to withdraw. (Which is a shame, really, 'cause that was a good application that I would have welcomed alongside the others.) As there are only four of us right now I will leave the application process open - for those who wish to join later on - until we have eight participants, the maximum that I will allow.

I will get started on the opening in-character post soon. =)

Additional Note: In the interest of convenience: @Bleu Chess and @DAWNSTAR, if you have Skype, please PM me your details so that I can set up a group conversation where out-of-character discussion will take place. It's one of the easiest ways for me to reach you, I figure.
"This is the Pokemon lab...right? You here for the region challenge?"

Another newcomer - thankfully a much less hyperactive one - had approached Adrian. The newcomer was slightly taller than him, carrying a Pokémon of his own in his arms. It seemed to uncurl as the guy spoke, revealing a long snout and closed eyes. Adrian recognised the colouring as that of a Cyndaquil, and smiled at the cute ball of fur.

"Yep, that's us. Adrian Manuka, of Celadon City: this here's Magnus." The Magnemite in question gave a beep at the mention of its name, rising from Adrian's shoulder to settle an inch or so above the Trainer's head. "Seems there's more than just a couple of people here on the last day of registration... whereabouts are you from? Not many places to find a Cyndaquil in the wild..." As he introduced himself and asked his own questions, Adrian got the distinct impression that everyone who showed up would be introducing themselves to each other a fair few times over the course of the next hour or so.
"Hey! Is someone there! Give me a second I'll be up front in a sec. Just feeding some of the Pokémon. Just head to the foyer to the left. Watch out for the Pidgeys perching above the doorway!"

"Whup!" Adrian dodged out of the doorway and turned his eyes upward. Sure enough, a flock of Pidgeys were sitting around chirping at each other. Magnus hovered up to their level, beeping at them, but they turned to glare at the Steel-type and it retreated back down to its Trainer's shoulder. Taking a few cautious steps away from the bird Pokémon, Adrian took a moment to examine the interior of the Laboratory.

It was a colossal mess, though Adrian interpreted it less like the place had been trashed and more like a certain someone had been left to his own devices for too long. Some things were overgrown out of neglect, others just plain broken. There were holes in the walls between rooms, for Arceus' sake. The Trainer just sighed, his suspicions correct. Someone needed to take over this place, preferably sooner rather than later. "This place is a trainwreck..." he muttered in an aside to Claire. "Come on. We should find some place to wait for whoever it was that gave us that heads-up."

Before Adrian could lead the way to the foyer the voice had mentioned, another girl burst into the Lab with reckless abandon. She made straight for the younger of the two Trainers, and Adrian's eyebrows were soon in danger of disappearing into his hair.

"Er... hello to you too, I guess?"
I've had a heads-up message from one of the people who's expressed interest outside of the thread. Turns out they'll be a while yet before posting their application, so in the interest of making an executive decision while still giving them time to apply, I'll keep the application period open for just under two more weeks before I close it up.

Applications will close April 9th, New Zealand time.

(I know of at least three people, including my co-GM, who may or may not be working on their characters.)
As mentioned in the OP, I'm looking for about eight people total, including myself and my co-GM.
Hi, are you guys still accepting?

Indeed we are. Good to see a new applicant that fits the bill quite nicely. I don't have any issues with your application right now. Still waiting for a few that have expressed interest to get back to me with their sheets.
A rather loud roar reached Adrian's ears, and he paused to investigate where it had come from. Sure enough, a large Gyarados let a young passenger jump down from its back, before an older man - presumably the owner of the Water-type - turned his mount and sped away. "That Gyarados must be pretty well-trained," Adrian mused, "to have carried passengers even a short distance. I wonder where they came from. Although it's not the most refined of Water-type transports... a shame you don't see Lapras much any more."

Magnus had no comment, instead lifting off of its Trainer's shoulder to hover a few feet above him, magnets spinning.

"Hmm... y'know, Kingdra comes a close second to Lapras in terms of elegance in Water-types... maybe we'll find a Horsea somewhere along the coast to train up." That comment got a Beep out of the floating Magnemite. "What? You can't expect me to run through the entire League with just you, Magnus. Gotta build up a strong team. C'mon, time's a-wasting." Adrian stuck his tongue out at his Pokémon, who spun in midair in response and followed the Trainer as he resumed walking.

The girl who had gotten off of her Gyarados transport was a short distance away; Adrian gave her a short wave as their paths began to cross. Maybe she was here for a visit to the Lab as well.
You could still re-apply, just with a different character. Although my advice for doing so is: instead of writing a special character, go with a more ordinary person. Use the character I posted as an example of what I'm inclined to favour.
I'm sorry, @Feisty-Pants, but I feel the need to stop you right there. I cannot accept your application.

- Characters are supposed to be beginner Trainers. I state in the second paragraph of the thread: "you are an aspiring Pokémon Trainer". You've written a Gym Leader who crushed Sabrina and hijacked her Gym without so much as a blink. While still a teenager to boot.
- The starter Pokémon is entirely unsuitable. A level 5 Spiritomb shouldn't know four moves taught by TM, be fully EV trained, or have its Hidden Ability. (No Pokémon, with the exceptions listed in the Sengun Pokédex spreadsheet, can have its Hidden Ability. And EVs are one of the many mechanics-related things that will not be used in the role-play.) And Spiritomb isn't even available in Kanto.
- - After doing a bit of research via Bulbapedia, I have chosen to add Spiritomb to the list of banned Pokémon based on its capabilities.
- Unholy Healing. The name says it all. I cannot allow it.
- Despite having just arrived in the region, the character has gear from Sengun which is exclusive to the region.
- The overall theme of morbidness that I get from the character isn't something that I feel is suitable to both the story and setting. I'm not going for a grimdark style at all.

And I'll be honest: after reading your sheet yesterday, I had a rather intense panic attack that resulted in me needing to take an extensive break from pretty much everything.

I'm sorry, but I do not feel that any part of this character is acceptable.
