Warriors of Sengun is a Pokémon role-play, set in a new region and featuring 64 new Pokémon in addition to those that have been found in other regions. I've detailed quite a lot for the Sengun region, its new species, and the storyline. I will provide more information on most subjects in the OOC tab when the thread is launched properly - not giving the story away too early! (The thread is already prepared for publishing. I'm just used to putting up a thread as it is instead of needing to place an interest check first.)

Sengun is a somewhat large island region, home to ten Kingdoms: the region is divided up into smaller territories, each with an affinity for different types of Pokémon and a central city that serves as that Kingdom's capital. It also plays host to a special type of Trainer: Warriors, individuals who do battle alongside their Pokémon allies. Armed with martial arts training and one of Sengun's unique Warrior Skills - special abilities that a Warrior can call on in battle - Warrior Trainers can be found everywhere in Sengun, from travelling Trainers to the region's Kings and Queens.

(Raven's Note: Several things about Sengun, including the Ten Kingdoms, Warriors, and Warrior Skills, were inspired by the spin-off game Pokémon Conquest, otherwise known as Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition.)

The player-characters, including my own, will be beginner Pokémon Trainers seeking to begin their journey on Sengun's Pokémon League Challenge, which has only recently been launched alongside an extensive advertising campaign in other regions. The Sengun League offers a substantial cash reward to anyone who reaches the rank of Champion, after having bested the Gym Leaders and Elite Four. Of course, as we will discover, Sengun has more going on than just the Pokémon League...

Co-GM: @NeoAC has agreed to fill the role of co-GM, much as I do for The Road to Indigo.

Participants: The total number of participants should be no more than seven or eight, including myself and my co-GM who has already expressed interest in the story I plan to tell. So we're looking for five or six more to sign up, but acceptance will not be on a first-come-first-served basis. Once the thread has launched properly, the quality of the applications is what will count the most towards getting in.

Posts: I think my standards of writing may be slightly stricter than the average Casual GM. Average post length should probably be somewhere in the two to three paragraph range. (Collaborative posts will definitely add to post length, and are more than welcome.) Posts should be as free as possible of issues in spelling or grammar. As for frequency of posts, I'd like to see a somewhat frequent post rate: participants shouldn't take more than two weeks to get things done. Those who don't post will be messaged at least once or twice.

In-Universe Mechanics:
- Warriors of Sengun will follow Gen VI mechanics and movesets as of Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. The new species have been designed to fit into the same style.
- When it comes to things like battling opponents or catching Pokémon, there are no dice rolls, secret trickery or exploitable loopholes to worry about; it's all up to the writer to detail what their character does. If you want to win a match, you describe how you win. A player-vs-player match, however, should be discussed between the appropriate participants before any writing takes place.
- I will update the levels and moves of all characters' Pokémon on a regular basis. Subjects like levels and base stats will not be discussed in-character, and certain details like EVs and IVs won't be used at all. We're borrowing some of the style used by the Pokémon anime in this way.
- Including the new species that I have designed, there will be about 300 Pokémon (including the new species) available to choose from over the course of the story. I've restricted the numbers because I don't want to keep tabs on each and every species, especially since I've added to the total.
- Mega Evolution will become available over the course of the story, but characters will not begin the role-play with Key Stones or Mega Stones, as I have replaced them with new items exclusive to the Sengun region.

Questions, comments and interest are all welcome. =)

The basics of the character sheet template are as follows. Please note, however, that a full descriptive version of this template will be available in the full version of the thread, as I figure some parts are simple enough without needing to be described here.

Questions, comments and interest are all welcome. =)
I can adjust my story and any thing else as much as you like and am very willing to. But my Riolu and the ability to tame Aura is an unnegotiable term for me even if I was not allowed to catch any other pokemon I would be happy with a Lucario the can do every thing it is suggested to be capable of.. If you can not fit that is then this is simply not the role play for me. I am Sorry for being so stubborn but Lucario Really means that much to me! ^^
On the other hand I will fix any thing else if you can tell me that you will try to give me that lucario the way it's meant to be. (With the ability to tame Aura and every thing! As seen in "The Mystery of Mew" Pokémon movie)

This is not a negotiation. We set the rules, and applicants must follow them. Both GMs have now stated several things that we won't accept in applications, and you persist. Neither of us will allow an Aura Guardian character, nor a level 10 starter Pokémon (and especially not one with unusual abilities).

If you aren't willing to do as the GM and co-GM have asked, then we don't want you here. It's as simple as that.
"So do we have to stay here? I don't want to stay here any more."

"I don't blame you, after the less than spectacular introduction to the League," Adrian noted, his voice light and cheery to try to lift the mood. "But yes, we can and should make a start on the road. I know the way, follow me." With that, he led the way down the stairs, intending to retrace the path he had taken to get to the Lab in the first place.

"So, if I'm the only one of us from Kanto... I guess I should go into a bit of detail on what we're up against. For the first couple of Gyms, I mean," he quickly clarified. "I did some research, to see what people were up to these days, and I think Gary's speech was packed full of exaggeration. First on the roster is Brock, up north in Pewter. Everyone calls him a colossal pushover. Although, to be fair, I'm hardly surprised. Rock-types aren't particularly threatening. Unless he imported some from overseas, any reasonably well-trained... hang on a sec. Magnus!"

Beep! Caught in the act yet again, Magnus sheepishly dropped from the streetlight from which it had been siphoning electricity, and returned to Adrian's side. The Trainer gave his Pokémon a look, then turned back to the others.

"Sorry, he gets out of hand sometimes. Anyways, where was I... right. Brock. Pushover. Pretty much anything that isn't a Normal, Fire, or Flying-type will thrash his team." The small group of Trainers were passing the docks as Adrian concluded his half-explanation, half-ramble.
@Alchemist: Okay, where do I begin? Having looked over the sheet, there are several issues present:

- I tend to take issue with characters that don't have, or don't know, one or more of their names. And several others in the role-play agree on that.

- Your starter is level 10, when the template in the first post specifically states starter Pokémon begin at level 5. In addition, several of us take issue with your choice of starter; we tend not to look favourably on those who choose Riolu, as it has the potential to become powerful rather quickly compared to other species.

- The Appearance section. As a whole.
- - Eyes should only ever be a stable colour instead of changing and shifting. Pick one and stick with it.
- - By "Arua" I'm going to assume you mean "Aura", the detection of which is a highly rare ability in the present-day Pokémon setting. Having looked it up, I can count the number of people with this ability on one hand.
- - Describing one's own character as "considered to be extremely attractive" raises a lot of red flags.

- I see several points in the personality with which several of us take issue.
- - She's "shy and untrusting", but you note her as being kind in the Appearance section. This feels like a rather large clash.
- - "patient and caution. but can be passionate and reckless". Which is it?
- - Being "brilliant" in terms of strategy. We aren't looking for full-blown geniuses here. Particularly ones with no explanation of where they learned their knowledge. And apparently wisdom. A sixteen-year-old probably shouldn't be considered "wise" unless they were fast-tracked in a monastery.

- Biography as a whole is on the far too short side, with very few details. A single paragraph just doesn't cut it. Sixteen years is a long time, and there could be plenty of noteworthy events that take place.
- - Professor Elm lives in Johto, not Sinnoh. You may be thinking of Professor Rowan, who lives in Sandgem Town, not Celestic. Unless this character travelled from one region to the other, which isn't mentioned at all.

- I see no proper explanation of where this character learned martial arts. Books can only take you so far in physical activity. If you don't have someone teaching you, you will inevitably end up doing something wrong, which can lead to injuries.

In conclusion, I won't lie: everything about this application gives me the impression that the character wants to be a special snowflake. Neo and I are in agreement that we won't accept this character.

If you want to try again with a different character, my advice is this: don't try to make your character special. Instead, try to make them normal for the setting. "Normal" doesn't mean "uninteresting".

As an additional note, we would appreciate it if future applications were posted in the OOC tab, rather than in the Characters tab.
There isn't much point, as Sengun has not had any activity in the past month and is likely dead.
Adrian just sighed. This just had to happen, didn't it? Add to the list of reasons...

"No, I'm good, I know how it all goes." He turned to the taller one, the guy who'd caused the... well, simply put, the trainwreck. "You should probably get out of here before something worse happens. Come on." With that, he grabbed the other Trainer by the arm and forcibly marched him out of the building, Magnus in tow. Once they'd left through the open front doors, he let go.

"Sorry about that, but it was better that you got out of the Lab sooner rather than later. There have been several incidents, all of them during League registrations, when the old Prof misinterpreted Gary's name," Adrian explained. "Each one usually coincides with a sharp increase in the difficulty of the Viridian Gym's challenge... he's not gonna be happy if he remembers you when we take on the last of the Gyms." He gave a brief grimace. "Honestly, I figure Oak should've been retired years ago. By force if need be. The Lab and the League would both benefit from a replacement."

It then occurred to him that the other guy probably didn't even know who he was. "Um, sorry, I should introduce myself. Adrian Manuka, of Celadon. The little guy is Magnus."

Beep.
"Oh, I'm definitely ready for this." The claim came from Adrian as he collected a Pokédex of his own. Confident and collected. The wildlands of Kanto didn't inspire much, if any, fear in him, as he'd seen what some of the earlier routes had to offer. Zubat in Mt. Moon? Psh. They weren't scary. You just had to tune out the incessant flapping when you found a cluster of them gathered together. Maybe Gary had had a traumatic encounter with a flock of Spearow early in his journey? Or was that someone else? Jokes aside, Adrian began to examine the sleek-looking, semi-transparent-in-places device he now owned, holding it up to take a snapshot of Magnus for the record.

"Check it out, it's you," he told Magnus as he showed the screen to his Pokémon. Magnus gave a beep! in surprise and spun its magnets, hovering a little higher before flipping over in midair and settling back in place upside-down. His part in the formalities done, Adrian chuckled at the antics of his Magnemite and resumed his spot in the small group.
"I'm from Johto, or uh, Goldenrod City, if I were to be specific. Yeah, she's even rare where I got her from, so I was kinda surprised when I saw Professor Elm had her available."

"Ah, Goldenrod City. You're a neighbour then, just across to the west... hey there, little one." The last of Adrian's comments was directed at the Cyndaquil, who seemed to shy away from him. Briefly Adrian considered extending a hand to see if she would poke it, but decided against it on the off-chance that she might have a little fire in her. That and, y'know, common courtesy. If another Trainer's Pokémon doesn't want anything to do with you, you leave it alone.

At the arrival of the one and only Gary Oak, Viridian Gym Leader - and therefore the last opponent before taking on Victory Road - Adrian nodded in response to his questions. Though his eyebrows shot up again at the hyperactive girl and what appeared to be a complete lack of understanding of personal space. As if it knew what he was thinking, Magnus gave a short two-tone buzz and settled back down on his shoulder.
The city of Regala was, as would be expected of the capital of Sengun, a hive of activity even in the mid-morning. This was the first impression that Alix Pearce gathered as she walked out of the SailFlight building and onto one of the main streets of the city. All around her, people were stopping off at newspaper stands or cafés, catching up before heading to work, or just generally out and about. There were plenty of Pokémon Trainers nearby as well; Alix could pick out species of all types and sizes. One in particular caught her eye, a graceful Karagrin - a Flying-type Pokémon native to Sengun - sailing the skies.

She was almost immediately bumped aside by the many others who had followed her out of the building to go their separate ways. Kicking herself a little for zoning out, she approached a signpost topped with a sculpture of a sleeping Eevee. She studied the signs for a few seconds before finding the one pointing the way to Ilex Laboratories, and set off.

Five minutes later, she rounded a street corner and found three magnificent buildings lit up by the morning sun. First, the dominating feature of the vista: the Palace of Regala, home to the ruling King Paros and seat of Sengun government, bedecked with spires and statuary. Second, the skyscraper, Victory Tower, where the best and strongest Trainers gathered to challenge the Pokémon League. And last, the smallest of the trio, Ilex Laboratories. It would have been like any other research lab, were it not for the massive tree growing from the roof. The effect of seeing the three buildings together was definitely something. No wonder there was a photographer selling snapshots to tourists.

Alix pressed on, taking the road to the Labs. Up close, it was just as impressive as from a distance. Taking a moment to examine her reflection in one of the windows - she had to make a good first impression, and had chosen to dress in her best clothing for the occasion - she set some stray hairs back into place before making for the double doors, which swooshed open for her.

The Lab reception was a comfortable-looking room, with several seats around the place and a receptionist on duty. "Morning!" he called out as Alix approached. "You here for registration with the Professors?"

"Yep. Also to pick up a Pokémon I reserved. Name's Alix."

The receptionist consulted his computer monitor. "Redfern?"

A new voice answered that. "That would be me. Ato Redfern, also here for registrations." Alix glanced round to find a younger kid dressed in the style of a Pokémon Ranger, with a Poké Ball on his belt. He looked hardly older than fourteen, though that was the minimum age requirement for the Sengun League.

The receptionist tapped a few keys. "Right. Ato Redfern... there we go. Take a seat. And your surname, miss?"

"Pearce. Called from Eyria a few days ago."

More keyboard tapping. "Ah, there you are. Torchic and Pokédex on reserve. I'll give the Professors a heads-up, let them know people are arriving for morning regs. They'll want to wait for more Trainers to get here before seeing you all at once. Take a seat, and I'll let everyone know when they're ready for you."

"Alright, thanks." Alix chose a seat on the opposite side of the Lab from where the kid, Ato, had settled in. He'd let a Mareep out of the Poké Ball he carried and was busy preparing some form of snack for the Electric-type. Alix had to smile; it was rather cute.
