'Wow, I didn't expect that to work,' Akiba thought as he flew past the Kaiju he had shot down. The Rodan suit couldn't hover, like a plane it had to constantly move forwards to fly, so after the Kaiju fell he rocketed past. As he was circling around to attack from the monster again, Akiba received the message telling him where to target next. "Roger that. Stay near the wings, team," Akiba replied into his headset. Then, off the communication relay, Akiba said to himself, "Alright Rodan, let's give 'em another shot."

This time Akiba had to charge from the Giant Claw's front side, and because the cannon was on Akiba's back, his angle was pointed towards the beast on the ground. When he fired the beam he aimed it at the monster's head, and then pulled up so that the beam would reach the back of the neck and then its torso.
Akiba Kyouske formulated a basic plan during the flight to Santa Fe and explained his role in the battle to come. As this was a flying enemy, Akiba figured his specialty had an obvious part to play, and he was pretty confident that he didn't need anyone else's input to start the fight. "I have the best control from the air, so I'll be distracting the Great Claw, or breaking their ability to fly if I can," Akiba declared when they had almost reached their destination. "If there's anything you need me to do, or direct him towards, contact me via the helmet." Akiba tapped the Rodan helmet on the seat next to him and smirked. Other than what he was saying on the plane, he didn't intend to play a big role in planning on the ground.

In fact, Akiba never reached the ground at all. As soon as he exited the plane with the Mecha-Rodan Phase I equipped, a combination jetpack and helmet, Akiba blasted off towards the Kaiju without hesitation. Distracting Kaiju and redirecting them from civilians was a common tactic to him by now, even before Mecha-Rodan was developed he had done the job in a fighter jet. As he tried to approach the Kaiju from behind, Akiba lamented that his suit did not come equipped with an audio device he could use to call the monster out. He settled for the next best thing, and tried to fly above the Great Claw and ruffle its feathers with a Maser blast directed at the back of their left wing.
The only Kaiju I can think of that actually ate any humans was Ebirah, and that lobster is pretty minor as far as Godzilla monsters go. Spacegodzilla spread crystals for power/energy, which could be considered a form of Gluttony, and I think Desghidorah from Rebirth of Mothra wanted to absorb Earth's life force, so that could be it too.
Attempt to involve myself more in the action, let me know if I've forgotten or missed anything important.
To the best of her knowledge Sophie had managed to escape detection from anyone in the area, though it did occur to her that she would have no way of telling. From the distance everyone nearby was at, Sophie couldn't tell what direction anyone was facing or where their heads were turned. A few raiders seemed to have appeared after she took cover, Sophie could hear gunshots and laser fire that lit up clearly in her view, one end near the woman waving her arms that Sophie had been moving to. Shortly afterwards the figure fell to the ground, and Sophie could hear a clanking metal sound when it hit the floor.

'A clank?'

The noise that John had made when he fell intrigued Sophie. Leaving her cart behind, hopefully safe, Sophie stepped away from the deli window and walked over to a side door that led to the alley between the deli and the next building, bringing her a bit closer to France and John. Desperately hoping no one would see the ghoul woman in the safari costume and assume she was a raider or feral, Sophie now crouched and started quickly walking towards France and John, in front of the storefronts.

From that distance, Sophie could see metal gray in the android's face. She didn't know what was wrong with him, but assumed she had a better chance of figuring it out than anyone born after the bombs dropped. "Hey! Arm waving girl!" Sophie called out, crouching but not really hiding behind anything nearby. "Let me help you with that robot!" She didn't know he was a robot and not a cyborg or anything like that for sure of course, but assumed he was a robot as she lacked any experience with cyborgs or prosthesis.

"Sure, he may be a good pilot, I grant you. But the way he treats machines, it's a wonder there's anything left." (Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.)
Name: Akiba Kyouske
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Weapon: Mecha-Rodan, one of the first weapons produced using Kaiju remains after the Kiryu suit was created. After Rodan was taken down by the KDF, some of his bones were used to construct the Mecha-Rodan suit just as Kiryu was created from part of Godzilla.
The Phase 1 Mecha-Rodan suit has a set of jets and wings that allow Akiba to fly around at quick speeds, as well as two lightweight maser cannons. It also contains a helmet that covers Akiba's entire head, with two horns in the back to resemble Rodan's head. This helmet allows Akiba to communicate easily, as well as gives him access to sonar to detect threats that he can't see directly.

Source
Phase 2 is a suit that surrounds Akiba's whole body, and though it resembles a fighter jet it isn't as large. The Phase 2 Mecha-Rodan is capable of supersonic flight, and the wings have much larger energy cannons. Additionally, the suit is capable of dropping powerful explosives to damage targets from above.
Personality: Akiba is a hot-shot, he's unsympathetic to weakness and thinks only about improving his own skill and getting the job done. He doesn't care about being nice to others and makes his superiority known whenever possible. Beneath his cockiness he truly cares about Japan, and fights not because of any personal relations that are at stake but because he believes that he has to, as someone with the skills necessary to fight Kaiju it is his duty to contribute those skills to save others. But because he doesn't know what it is like to lose someone in an attack, he doesn't understand what it can do to a person, and he won't spare time to help someone who won't pull their own weight. In battle, Akiba is known to be extremely reckless, and to show off.
History: Akiba grew up on the countryside, so far always living out of the way of Godzilla's path. However, when he became of age, Akiba volunteered for the military out of duty for his country, saying goodbye to everyone he was leaving behind. During his training he grew proud of how quickly his skill grew in comparison to his peers. A feeling of excitement grew within him, a desire not just to stop the kaiju threat but to test his abilities against them. After surviving several skirmishes in a fighter plane against kaiju, mostly stalling them, the Kiryu project began. Due to his skills Akiba became second in line to pilot the suit, in the event Akane was unavailable, and when a second suit was created he became the obvious choice considering his previous experience. Akiba harbors resentment towards Akane, believing her uncontrollable nature to make her undeserving of the Kiryu suit, and believes Mecha-Rodan to be an inferior alternative. He has forced himself into a mentality that using Rodan instead of Kiryu is a challenge to him, and that he'll prove himself superior regardless.

(Erika, pre-death. After being revived her skin is a sickly green and her heart constantly glows with a bright orange energy.)
"If they play around with cells, genetic engineers might well create their own chimera. A new life form, totally alien, totally different to what God intended for Earth." (Godzilla vs. Biollante)
Name: Erika Shiragami
Age: 30
Gender: Female
Personality: Before her death, Erika was always cheerful, always eager to help out others, especially her father. Though her drive to benefit humanity remains, her personality is drastically altered due to her merged biology with Godzilla. Her temper is much shorter, and she gets angry or panicked easily. Godzilla's hatred of humanity manifests as antisocial behavior in Erika, she can no longer stand being in groups of people and becomes easily frustrated when talking to more than one person at a time. She can no longer stand to be surrounded by or inside of buildings, and interfacing with technology is now beyond her grasp, and merely enrages her when she attempts it. Most of her biological research is done by ordering scientists as proxies, or utilizing a simple lab built on the rooftop of a KDF building. Because of this she cannot use any of the anti-kaiju weapons herself and despite her powerful physiology she is unsuited for battle again the Kaiju. Additionally she opposes the creation of specialized weapons from the remains of Kaiju, though she reigns in her debate as others may believe her to be a Kaiju sympathizer, and they might be right.
History: Instead of forming Biollante, Dr. Shiragami's attempt to bring his daughter back to life was a success, to a certain degree, and the project to develop a microbe that could destroy Godzilla was a failure.

Shortly after Godzilla's first attacks, research into combating the Kaiju relied heavily on KDF's access to biological samples of Godzilla. Erika worked with her father using the Godzilla cells to work on the Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria for the KDF to destroy Godzilla and any other radiation-based Kaiju with ease. Bio-Major, an American Task Force assigned to take out potential sources of bioterrorism, attacked Shirgami's lab, fearing the Japanese would use the ANEB to deplete America's store of nuclear arms and energy plants. Erika Shiragami was killed in the attack, but her father survived and managed to save the Godzilla sample, and recovered her corpse from the site later. Obsessed with trying to bring her back, by infusing her DNA into a rose bush that had been made drought and radiation-resistant by Godzilla's DNA. Before this hybrid could grow, Godzilla attacked, and when Kiryu went berserk the plant was damaged, and Dr. Shiragami was mortally wounded. In his last moments he scrapped the ANEB project and took the entirety of the remaining Godzilla sample and the rose bush and fused them directly with Erika's body. The attempt was a success, Dr. Shiragami died, but Erika was born anew.

Erika was recovered from the rubble that was Dr. Shiragami's second lab, but this time she was alive and stronger than ever. With her father gone, Erika decided to resume her research into finding a biological method to defeating Godzilla and quickly became a key researcher at the KDF. However, the change in personality caused by her merging with Godzilla's biology has forced her to isolate herself and conduct her research from a garden on the roof of the KDF Research Facility. However, now she had a growing source of Godzilla cells to study: the core of regenerating Godzilla tissue within her heart.
Other: So long as the core of Godzilla cells in her heart is intact or unexposed, Erika can quickly regenerate her body after an injury. She no longer needs to sleep and gets most of her energy through photosynthesis. She is stronger than the average human but not enough to make her useful against a Kaiju without a weapon, and she cannot die from exposure to radioactivity. Erika suspects that she may be immortal or extremely long-lived due to her regeneration and plant-like biology, but doesn't know for sure.
Here are my submissions for the RP. Though they're both from movies, the ages of the characters and Akiba's backstory are imagined as they aren't specified in the movies they are in.

Just to be clear, all the kaiju fighters are human-sized fighters? No giant mecha? Or just giant mecha that are somewhat weaker than kaiju?
Oh, right. How about a mecha rodan then? I'm not sure if anyone is jumping to claim Rodan.
Well, we need more Kaiju fighters, so I'll think about characters that would be acceptable as a Kaiju fighter, although Kiryu/Mechagodzilla is really the main giant robot from the series I can think of.
