> Hmm. Intriguing. > May I ask whether we are going to follow a precise storyline set in real-time, or just a fictional one totally unrelated to Europe? There's no clear story line, we write our own destiny. But some historical events will happen and depending on our external politics it's effects can either be marginal or actually affect our Roleplay directly, for example historical wars, and if we're allied to one of the belligerents we would be dragged into the conflict. The events can be militaristic, environmental, political, social, etc. and I will write them down in advance and trigger them when the time is appropriate. Some will be historical some will be completely random to keep the RP interesting and going.
> As a matter of fact, I do play Crusader Kings II. And after playing it for hours on end, I'd say I have a pretty good understanding of how the game works. I want to know how the administration within the country is set? Like, a kingdom is separated into smaller duchies which are then separated into counties, etc.?
> Quick question: Have you ever heard of Crusader Kings II? Because I've just realized that this RP and Crusader Kings II have a lot in common. I know the game but I never played it. I've seen shenryyr2 play it, though. I suppose it's kind of similar, I never really thought about it. Have you played it? Since I didn't really get into it and it's somewhat historically accurate maybe you could help me out if you know how the game works? I need help with the RP and perhaps the game could be a good source of information :D
> No no. I made a post that was supposed to be for another thread. Since you can't delete posts on here, I edited it instead. Oh, gotcha. I made a family tree for my royal house yesterday but I plan on showing it along with family history. Basically that will be two of the things necessary when applying for the RP later. I will write it down sometime this week, possibly 26th. You can use it as an example for when you start working on yours.
> [NEVER MIND] Quitting?
So you mean you want to be playing just one character?
> Question could I perhaps be a loyal lord/knight to perhaps the duke or count of an HRE state or shall I lead my own? That's pretty much what you will do. Instead of owning a state in the HRE, you will lead a royal house in my kingdom, so yes. You can be a noble/knight and you will be awarded some land to look after. The entire Roleplay is happening inside a single country.
> Central Europe looked like my grandmothers patchwork blanket in those days. > > I'm not sure I fully understand the concept of the RP. Are playing IRL principalities/kingdoms within the HRE or are we playing made-up nations within the HRE? We're playing as royal houses within a single state in the HRE. Basically you fight for dominance in the state while allying yourself with other royal houses to further your own goals, fighting other royal houses for possessions (villages, towns, castles, mines, fields, etc.), all the while the country expands as time goes on. Our kingdom is like a small world on it's own where noble houses fight for power, but there's a whole other world outside of our realm's borders that is simultaneously evolving. In times of war, the noble houses of our realm unite to fight an outside power (or they can ally the invader) in order to expand our kingdom and give more space to fight over. It's kind of like any other RP but with the playground changing size every now and then. I will make an enlarged map of our kingdom and that will be the main map we will use in the initial stage of the RP. I made this big one to show current standings in Europe and I will use it later on as well to graphically show results of other wars in the world.
I'm okay with the hired killers. An order of assassins is a bit unrealistic but Chivalric orders will be present.
> Quick question: Where do you stand on the use of assassins in this RP? Depends in what concept you plan on using them. As a kind of brotherhood like in Assassin's creed, or just your noble house hiring assassins to further their political goals? Because I'm okay with the latter.
