@rush99999 I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe some other time you can re-enter the RP when you have less obligations. Well, if there's more people that intend to leave I guess now's the time to announce it. I sure hope this RP isn't dying before it even started.
Okay, the update is here. Troop trees added, settlement and business upgrades added. I also added mine maps. You can find them in the "County information" section in the first post. There are a few minor things to add and we're ready to 'role'. Anyway, as I said yesterday, the only setback is TwistedSun's absence. I'm not sure what to do about it. Do we start without him in hope he shows up, or do we wait? Should I take his county away? PS: if you have any questions I will gladly answer. I reckon I may have not explained to the best of my possibilities certain things because I was rushing to finish it.
In the Year of our Lord, 1400, January 1st
Manburg castle:
Overlooking his castle from his chamber, duke Rudolf II was deep in thought. In the eyes of his subjects present in his room he seemed to be distressed. The light from his blue eyes that were once full of life and vigor was slowly fading, and the lines on his face were becoming more and more apparent with old age. The duke was in his late sixties, he knew his time had passed. But this is not why he is seemingly upset. The Austrians to the east have been expanding recently, absorbing the duchy of Styria only few years prior. Manburgian sources say the Austrians have once again turned their attention west. The fear among the levies is becoming a problem as many have started moving inland, away from the border, fearing Austrian retribution who’s duke seemingly still feels like they were unlawfully stripped of land during the Austrian succession war. The old truce between the two duchies ended nearly two decades ago and the recent militaristic activity of the Austrians is unsettling. Suddenly a herald barges in through the main door: “Sire, I bring word from the Duke of Linz.”- as he passes the note to the chamberlain of the castle, Ulrich von Meinhaus. Rudolf slowly distanced himself from the window reaching for the piece of paper who was handed to him by the chamberlain. The note reads:
“To His Royal Highness, Duke of Manburg Rudolf II, Good duke, we encourage you to stay strong in these troubling times. The forces of the Austrians are no doubt preparing for something leery. Court of Manburg may rest assured their brave troops will be accompanied by the might of the Duchy of Linz if the Austrians dare to cross your borders. Our numbers may be unfavorable but our men are more than able to bring the might of the Austrians down with their bravery and skill, as proven many times before. -Duke of Linz, Hartwig von Glauenburg”
As the old man finished his read, the look on his face appeared to be improving, albeit his eyes still emitted concern. The duchy his father left him to keep is now under threat by an army of fifteen thousand Austrians, according to the latest reports. The duchy of Manburg can only raise six thousand regular troops, and although Duchy of Linz can raise just as many, chances are they will not be able to send all of them. They have had problems with the Bavarians over the past years and the duchy can spare only so many troops to be able to defend itself in case of a perfidious attack of those snakes from the north. Duke’s son and heir, Rudolf III, an already well established and renowned high noble of the duchy, has been busy with diplomacy. With the apparent rise of Vienna after decades of dealing with unrest, the rising Austrian eagle is threatening sovereignty of it’s former vassals yet again. However, times have changed. The old years when the new nations were euphoric with newly established freedom, cutting off all ties with Vienna and dealing against them together had past. Over the thirty three years that had passed since establishment of the new states they have grown too far apart to effectively make a united stand against greater powers. In this regard Rudolf III has been secretly attempting to establish the old ties with the former Austrian vassals in attempt to fight them back together and give them a finishing blow that would put the Habsburgs out of the political as well as living world for good. Sadly, he did not have much luck as the farthest states see no profit in fighting the Austrians like Tyroleans, who are not bordering the Austrians directly and are instead focusing their defense against their own neighbors. Others, like Duchy of Carniola, have fallen victim to other greater powers who expanded their influence over the small and weak new states. Prince-Bishopric of Salzburg on the other hand established a peaceful diplomacy with the Habsburgs, attempting to deter them from attacking with courtship and gifts. A pathetic and slimy politics that only the kind of weak invertebrate snake could conduct. The only remaining states that are directly under threat of Austrians are the Carinthians to the south, Duchy of Linz to the west and ourselves. Rudolf III with his entourage is currently en route to the Carinthian court in Sankt Veit in an attempt to sway them to join the defensive league. However, the Carinthian Duke has had some territorial claim disputes with the Glauenburgs of Linz over the Austrian land that lies between them which might prove to be a defining issue to maim Manburg’s efforts to form an anti-Austrian coalition.
First mine map:
Thoughts? There is a total of 8 mines in the county of Greinburg (1 gold, 1 silver, 3 iron and 3 copper).
Looks good to me.
Great, because I have a big update coming up. We might start the RP in the next two days. I'm a little worried though, TwistedSun hasn't been on in five days and he's one of the counts so I'm not sure what to do about it.

I've done all the tables. They can be found in the first post.
Got you. All makes sense then, will continue to wait for this to start intently :)
Check your inbox.
Okay that all makes sense, also is man power basically the labor available if the peasantry are used for something other than their usual year long jobs??? Such as a HUGE work project or raised as levies???
Manpower is the number of regular troops one county can have. It's the maximum number of troops you can have without raising the levies. Total manpower of the duchy is 6000 regular troops as we have previously agreed on. Levies are every other capable man, woman or child that will fight for you when necessary but they are poorly armed and generally bad quality troops. You only raise them in dire needs. They are free. Here is the table for county of Lichtenau:
That sounded complicated. Anyway, just now for the first time since I thought about doing this calculating system I've actually thought it's going to be great, because I finally got the clue how it will all play out, and trust me guys, it's pretty great. I just tested out how my army would look with the revenue that I have calculated and it's going to be tough, so it would be extremely necessary to have a full treasury in order to always be able to wage war. Also, as I've said already, there will be upgrades on how to increase your income but these upgrades cost as well so it should be interesting to watch how people will spend their money. I'm about as excited as a girl scout at this point.
Since its more about usefulness that aesthetic beauty it looks fine and is easy to navigate. Just a point to make, how is income for a count going to work??? Because, for example, the Burgrave of Manburg gets 1125, how much goes to the count??? Since the Burgrve needs to make some. Again, that same point works with the count's income to the duke.
I will use percentage. For example, the amount of taxes gained from places is exactly one quarter of a pound per citizen and the highest tax would be 1 pound, though at serious risk of an uprising. Counts receive percentage of taxes from all the towns, castles and villages in the county and a percentage of all those taxes collected by counts goes to the duke. If the tax percentage is, say 20%, looking at County of Manburg who's revenue is a total of 9000, 1800 would go to the Count while the rest would be in collected by the owners of the places. 40% of what Count collected (720 pounds) would go to the Duke. Von Rittenburgs own Manburg, Rittenberg, Alfenau, Bauerdorf, Granzfurt, Grafenschlag and Gerungen. All of these (except for Alfenau) are in the county of Manburg so it's mostly useless to take taxes from them as they go into the same 'bank account'. The combined revenue from assets from Manburg county is 5350, plus Alfenau minus the taxes to the count, it would be around 5400 in total. This is without the mines. BUT, keep in mind that these are YEARLY taxes. So this is the amount you get after 3 RL days while you have to be paying your troops daily. In short, these 5400 pounds have to cover costs of troops over three RL days. PS: You guys don't have to worry with numbers too much, I will do most of the calculating myself in the reports every 6 days though it's probably useful to keep track before hiring troops. If the costs are too large it could lead to some undesirable events.
