How you been???
Pretty good. A lot of free time on my hands lately so I thought I'd give this one another go. And you?
How you been???
Remember House von Hoffendolt...they're back ;D
I have been searching for a nation-based Roleplay forum for some time and a few months ago I stumbled across roleplayersguild.com Out of interest, I stuck around to spectate this sub forum in order to get the basic idea of the type of writing people use, the interests in type of Roleplays and most importantly the Roleplayer base. Perhaps I am rushing in as I got the impression the amount of Roleplayers active in this type of Roleplay is somewhat scarce at this moment and from the on-going Roleplays I have realized it's also kind of slow-paced and mainly focused on sci-fi or fantasy story lines. So I've decided to come here and ask if there would be people interested in a historical medieval Roleplay revolving around the year 1400AD (haven't yet decided the exact date). If the interest is high enough by the end of two weeks from today I will be ready to start accepting requests. In my personal experience and taste I would like the total number of Roleplayers to be between 5-10 in total, me included, in order to be able to keep track of everything and not make a mess in both OOC and the IC. Another reason would be social life and some people may not be able to read all the new posts in time which would stall the pace etc. Bottom line is, I would be in charge of a lot of things, and keeping track of everything is of utmost importance.
CONCEPT
Now, back to the Roleplay. The idea may be somewhat different to what you are accustomed to here. I don't know if this idea has been used before but I have been blessed with a brainchild that might be a game changer. Basically, instead of ruling different countries, the Roleplayers would instead govern royal houses within the same realm, of which I would be the king (think Game of Thrones kind of thing). This would make the game quite interesting as most of political scene on the world scale would be out of control for most of the Roleplayers which would, in my opinion, bring some lore to the Roleplay because the story would unfold unpredictably. This brings me to events. I will include a lengthy list of events that I will work on which will randomly happen based on actions of the players in different situations, including some unrelated historical events that could also potentially spice things up a bit. Important note: although the story is based on history (i.e. use of map of medieval Europe), the kingdom we will be playing as will be ahistorical in the sense that I will most likely make Austria or another HRE larger state in the east be split in to several smaller monarchies, which would in turn change the original course of history.
Roleplayer's tasks would be, to say it bluntly, struggle for power within the country. Plotting, alliances among noble houses (domestic and foreign), economic and military development as well as advancing in the social hierarchy within the monarchy are perhaps the core of the Roleplay. But of course, as any other kingdom, this one, too, will be at war with outside powers and so the Roleplayers will have the chance to fight together against common enemies. This brings us to another side of the game which is PvE Roleplay and changes that come with it, such are border changes, population changes, military numbers etc. which may in turn shift the balance of power in our own kingdom. The main goal for a noble house is to overthrow the king (me) and become the new ruler, though this is strictly to give the Roleplay some sort of direction and I'd urge you to keep the Roleplay going for as long as it can if it's fun for everyone.
I have more plans, of course, this is just summary of the basic idea with as much detail as I can share without giving out everything I have thought out. I'd hope to see enough people interested in this little project that I have been harboring for some time so I can finally put it into motion. If interest is high enough I could of course use some help with research, planning and game mechanics. An artist would be very welcome as well for the coat of arms and such.
@Horrid, @ResidentialNarcissist, @SepticGentleman, @Serum and @Xilaw, do you think Graham
should go to New York by himself, or find someone in Jersey to help him on his way? Either way I'd need a reason for him to leave.
Thank you for your cooperation.
