How you been???

Pretty good. A lot of free time on my hands lately so I thought I'd give this one another go. And you?
Remember House von Hoffendolt...they're back ;D

Always good to see you back!
I have tried this several months ago, and despite great interest, sadly it didn't work out as well as I had hoped due to my slow working process on the game developing being preoccupied with school as well as the first draft making the RP look a little too "gamey" for most people's taste. However, I've no plan in changing anything from the final product (which guarantees writing freedom, but within reasonable limits), meaning the RP would commence within a week if the interest is high enough.

Seeing as I'm too lazy at the moment to write this all over again, I'm just going to copy/paste the former article instead. Not going to waste mine nor your time to write something extensive, after all, it's just an interest check.

I have been searching for a nation-based Roleplay forum for some time and a few months ago I stumbled across roleplayersguild.com Out of interest, I stuck around to spectate this sub forum in order to get the basic idea of the type of writing people use, the interests in type of Roleplays and most importantly the Roleplayer base. Perhaps I am rushing in as I got the impression the amount of Roleplayers active in this type of Roleplay is somewhat scarce at this moment and from the on-going Roleplays I have realized it's also kind of slow-paced and mainly focused on sci-fi or fantasy story lines. So I've decided to come here and ask if there would be people interested in a historical medieval Roleplay revolving around the year 1400AD (haven't yet decided the exact date). If the interest is high enough by the end of two weeks from today I will be ready to start accepting requests. In my personal experience and taste I would like the total number of Roleplayers to be between 5-10 in total, me included, in order to be able to keep track of everything and not make a mess in both OOC and the IC. Another reason would be social life and some people may not be able to read all the new posts in time which would stall the pace etc. Bottom line is, I would be in charge of a lot of things, and keeping track of everything is of utmost importance.

CONCEPT

Now, back to the Roleplay. The idea may be somewhat different to what you are accustomed to here. I don't know if this idea has been used before but I have been blessed with a brainchild that might be a game changer. Basically, instead of ruling different countries, the Roleplayers would instead govern royal houses within the same realm, of which I would be the king (think Game of Thrones kind of thing). This would make the game quite interesting as most of political scene on the world scale would be out of control for most of the Roleplayers which would, in my opinion, bring some lore to the Roleplay because the story would unfold unpredictably. This brings me to events. I will include a lengthy list of events that I will work on which will randomly happen based on actions of the players in different situations, including some unrelated historical events that could also potentially spice things up a bit. Important note: although the story is based on history (i.e. use of map of medieval Europe), the kingdom we will be playing as will be ahistorical in the sense that I will most likely make Austria or another HRE larger state in the east be split in to several smaller monarchies, which would in turn change the original course of history.

Roleplayer's tasks would be, to say it bluntly, struggle for power within the country. Plotting, alliances among noble houses (domestic and foreign), economic and military development as well as advancing in the social hierarchy within the monarchy are perhaps the core of the Roleplay. But of course, as any other kingdom, this one, too, will be at war with outside powers and so the Roleplayers will have the chance to fight together against common enemies. This brings us to another side of the game which is PvE Roleplay and changes that come with it, such are border changes, population changes, military numbers etc. which may in turn shift the balance of power in our own kingdom. The main goal for a noble house is to overthrow the king (me) and become the new ruler, though this is strictly to give the Roleplay some sort of direction and I'd urge you to keep the Roleplay going for as long as it can if it's fun for everyone.

I have more plans, of course, this is just summary of the basic idea with as much detail as I can share without giving out everything I have thought out. I'd hope to see enough people interested in this little project that I have been harboring for some time so I can finally put it into motion. If interest is high enough I could of course use some help with research, planning and game mechanics. An artist would be very welcome as well for the coat of arms and such.

Addition:
As some of you, who have kept track of the previous game, know, I have worked out several maps including the map of Europe during 1400AD as well as the map of the Duchy we're playing as, and a map of the towns/cities/mines etc. which are within our boundaries. We will be playing as a fictional Duchy of Manburg which came into existence after Austria collapsed from a power struggle between several Habsburgs. More info will be available once I make the OP. I will make one as soon as I get 4 other people interested in the game.

This is a map of Europe in 1400AD which I personally created based on several historical maps and sources. I'm leaving it here to give you a taste of what I had in store, hopefully to attract as many people as possible:

IF you're really interested and would like to learn more about the RP before applying (which would be great, in order to avoid people prematurely showing interest they'd later revoke), here's the link to the previous one where you can find more information (keep in mind that OP was edited several times and it is the one I will most likely copy/paste for use in this RP):
http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/76267-house-of-the-rising-sun-royal-houses-rp/ooc

Changes are possible if majority of people ask for them to be made.
This looks interesting. I'll be keeping an eye and see how it turns out. If more people show interest I might be joining in.
EDIT: Double post.
Sort of waiting for more people to contribute before endeavoring into writing another post that may or may not be a waste of time looking at how slow things are going. Just leaving this here in case others are discouraged from writing for the same reason. I'm still here to Roleplay.

Somewhere near Arthur Kill strait, New Jersey
Around 9:30 AM

After a brief examination of his options, Lokki noticed a man taking a rest by the water under a leafless tree several hundred meters away. The person was clearly relaxing, laying on some sort of a deck chair, with his legs crossed and the palms of his hands tucked in under his resting head.

"My kinda person"- Lokki noted before heading over his way without further ado.

Normal person would find it troublesome riding their tricycle down a steep grassy slope all the way down to the river. But not Lokki, for he was not a normal person in any sort of way. Instead of going heavy on the breaks, he let the pedals go berserk while he lifted his legs horizontal to the ground under him, with one hand on the wheel and the other on his hat. The rough ride with occasional bumps on his way down made him imagine he was riding a bull, yelling “Toro!” every now and then trying not to fall off of an out of control tricycle with a sealed kiddie basket full of goods going down a cliff.

Before he knew it, the fun part was over and he had to make his wheels stop in their tracks before running off into the strait. He quickly lowered his raised legs that were sticking out like a pair of lances and pressed them on to the ground trying to create friction while holding hard on the breaks that were fixed on the handle bars.

His chaotic run down the hill and his enthusiastic screaming provoked the ears of the man that was resting, immediately awakening him and winning his attention. "Sheesh, you nearly ended up in the water, man."- the person remarked with his hands grabbing his own body by the waists - "Stopped right in time".
"A good thing, too. I can’t swim."- Lokki retorted with a snorting chuckle while getting off of his ride.

"I suspect you are here for the ferry?"- the man was curious while checking Lokki up and down wondering if he’s trouble. He noticed he wasn’t carrying any weapons on him, at least it wasn’t visible on the first look. The man assumed he must be a customer.

"That would be wonderful" – Lokki replied while making strange hand motions that resembled a mimic of an explosion.

"Yeah, okay, buddy." – the ferry guy soon realized he was dealing with another lunatic. He made Lokki follow him down to the ridge above the water from where a large wooden platform was uncovered. So what’s your name, partner? – the captain asked.

"Oh, I go by Lokki." – he replied with an ongoing grin.
"Would that be a corruption of Loco? Because that would make more sense." – captain replied a bit sarcastically.

Lokki’s face soon became serious, yet still benevolent, raising his eyebrows but his mouth simply transforming from a parabola into a straight line - "Pardon?"

"Never mind, buddy." – the foreigner said, clearly losing interest – "So, how do you intend to pay for your trip?"

Lokki raised one finger to pause the captain and his facial expression was showing he had an idea. He hopped all the way back to his tricycle while pushing it towards the ferry alongside him. He unlocked the little basket he carried and pushed his hand down into the pile of stuff before pulling out a bag of lollipops.

"Candy?"

"My teeth are rotten beyond repair, what am I supposed to do with a lollipop?" - the man asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Suck on it?" – Lokki asked a rhetorical question with a straight face – "The way I see it, you got no teeth, hence you got nothing to lose" – his mood quickly shifted into joy before throwing the bag of lollipops into the arms of the captain – "Enjoy your candy."

The man laughed at the lunatic’s logic while catching the bag – "Alright, man. Hop in."
@Horrid, @ResidentialNarcissist, @SepticGentleman, @Serum and @Xilaw, do you think Graham
should go to New York by himself, or find someone in Jersey to help him on his way? Either way I'd need a reason for him to leave.

Lokki isn't in Jersey City but he can see it from a distance. I was hoping I'd make it to NYC on my own and then meet the first people. I suspect he'd be cautious around people in the outskirts, most likely avoid them at all cost.

9AM, State of New Jersey, near I-95 Highway

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Up on his feet since early morning, Lokki was casually riding his tricycle towards the Big Apple without a worry on his mind. It was an unusually warm morning with a slight breeze coming from the Atlantic Ocean, sun’s rays barely making through the clouds that have engulfed the US since a long time ago, making a number of beams coming down from the heavens like needles puncturing a piece of cloth.
“Love the smell of ash in the morning”- he commented to himself after a cloud of charcoal odor caught up to him.

As he casually pushed the pedals of his three-wheeler in a forward motion in the middle of the highway while noticing the large green table that reminded him he is nearing New York City, he quickly remembered his routine when approaching large city ruins - there is always trouble entering or exiting them. To keep it safe, he decided to get off the main road and have a try at some lesser known ways of getting in to avoid any potential threats. He made a sharp turn towards the exit, leaving the wide and empty road that stretched for as long as eyes can see and found himself in a suburban area of New Jersey. With not much to see other than ruble of what was once buildings and houses, he continued his way down a small road that ran parallel to the highway and the Arthur Kill strait that divided New Jersey state from Staten Island, New York. Without a worry in mind he started curving from one end of the road to the other, quite clearly enjoying his ride while listening to Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carleton on a discman he found in Columbus, Ohio, and had it fixed by some handyman in Pittsburgh in exchange for a bag of cherry lollipops, which he later stole back, one of which he is sucking on right this minute. Whenever this song came up he’d mumble the bridge and sing the chorus, never getting it down right despite the fact he’s been listening to it for a month.

Enjoying his ride for about half an hour with his jester hat dangling in the wind, the road was curving over a ridge and above it you could just barely pick out what was once New Jersey skyline. He paused his ride for a while on top of the ridge, taking off his goggles and taking in the surroundings. He quickly realized that on the right side he could see Staten Island, and beyond that was his destination – New York City. From his point of view he could also see the bridge connecting the two states, however, as cautious as he is, he decided not to go directly to it but instead use an old pirate telescope he carried in his tricycle basket to check it out for any signs of activity while benevolently letting out a silent “Yarrr”. Sure enough, a group of people were waiting on one end of the bridge, most likely preying on new-comers and “welcoming” them the old-fashioned way – with ambush. Clearly things are not looking up as the bridge is the only way in and it would take too much time and risk to the next one. He decided to look for a boat or anything he could use to get across the body of water that was in his way towards his goal.
Thank you for your cooperation.
