Once she left, the sun was setting, painting the sky a dark red orange. The previously empty street was now filled with cars. Thankfully, it was so jammed pack that they weren't moving at all. Taking the chance while she had it, she slipped through multiple cars receiving the occasional beeps. After finally making it back to the main town, she passed by the coffee shop where they met. The cafe was now empty and she could spot the remaining workers cleaning up the tables, getting ready to close. The people on the streets looked tired as they looked like they had just came back to work.
When Emi arrived home, a wave of the scent of pasta hit her. She felt her stomach growling, realizing that she barely ate the whole day. When she entered the kitchen her mom raised a brow, probably questioning silently where she had been.
"I was out at the cafe," Emi said vaguely to her mom.
"That's a surprise," her mom replied sarcastically. She set the food at the table for the both of them, as her dad was still at work. Emi quickly gobbled her food down and went to her room. Checking her phone for messages, she felt oddly disappointed that she didn't see any unknown numbers that could be from Tyler.
However, she let it go as she felt exhausted from spending the whole day out. Before she fell asleep, a reminder popped up on her phone reminding her that she had to tutor someone at the cafe tomorrow. She sighed, she had almost forgotten that she might be a little busy for the rest of spring break. She eventually fell asleep, with her phone next to her, unknowingly she had forgotten to set up her alarm for the next day.
