Current Season Details in Bold

The Short of It…
A neo-noir crime thriller based in the fictional city of Justice, California. Taking inspiration from the likes of The Wire, The Sopranos, Pulp Fiction and Sin City; my hopes are to create a universe of gritty crime which is both surreal and realistic. We would play characters which can range from criminals, cops, civilians, whatever you feel could fit into this new world. There isn’t an overarching plot, the storyline more so circulates on creating this universe and is extremely character driven.

The Story So Far
It began with one man. Francis McKenna was born in a small town in Ireland and shortly after his third birthday, he and his family migrated to the USA eventually settling in New Jersey. Over the years, the McKenna family managed to earn a respectable wealth through honest work and hard labour. Young Francis however, was greedy and ambitious. In a fit of rage after being denied his inheritance, Frank killed his father and stole his fortune. On the run, Francis adopted the guise of a traveller and eventually found himself in a strange land, California. It was the middle of the gold rush and the intelligent young Irishman saw an opportunity. Using his ill-gotten gains, Frank eventually wound up financially backing the entire town and in essence bought it for less than a dollar.

From that day forward, the town now called Justice began its exponential growth. At first the money came from the mines and to surplus his miners, Frank brought in foreign prostitutes. When the gold dried up, real estate became the big money and soon Justice expanded into a large city. At the turn of the century, the town became the go to place for bootleggers. This insurgence of new blood brought in new revenues and new enemies for McKenna. The Italians, the Jewish, the Latino’s, the list only got longer but also with them came new revenues for making money. Over the span of several bloody decades, Justice evolved into a gambling and entertainment mecca but it had also became the apex for American crime.

The 80’s saw Justice become the breeding ground for yuppie greed and brought with it the new breed of clever criminal. After the economic downturn of the nineties, Justice was hit with urban decay and much of the town fell to recession. Now in the 21st century, the town has been almost split in two. One side for the rich and another for the poor. The McKenna family still holds much power over the city but there are always those trying to steal it. Despite its high crime rate, Justice has been relatively peaceful the last few years but the murder of one of the McKenna’s will light the flame and set off a chain of events that nobody could have forseen…

Season 1: The Lady in Red
Theme: Sorrowing Man by City and Colour
Allison McKenna, a 21 year old aspiring nurse is shot dead at a party. There are no witnesses to the crime but the swift death of local detective, Dante Sammartino and the murder weapon found in his apartment, points the finger on local Mafia family; The Sammartino's. Soon a war breaks out between them and Allison's fathers gang; The McKenna. The ensuing bloodshed coupled with some previous decisions brings a State Investigator to Justice to look into corruption. A police task force is set up to try and combat the growing threat of violence and investigate the slayings. As the war on the streets continues; more and more of Justice residents are pulled into the fighting. Who is the mastermind behind all of the events? A New Jersey gangster and his wife. The reason? Power. The Mayor of Justice is killed and the case against him falls apart, causing the task force to disband. Shortly after, another mob boss is taken out leaving the husband and wife team, to take control.

Season 2: All The Pieces Matter...
Theme: Fragile Bird By City and Colour
Six months on from the horrific gang war that claimed many lives, the town of Justice is slowly recovering. As the city is rocked by a summer heat wave, the Mayoral election campaigns begin. After the "suicide" of previous incumbent Henry McKenna, Justice elected councilman Isaac Jagielski as his replacement until the elections began. Now having had a taste of power, Isaac doesn't want to give it up. Just how far is he willing to go to keep his seat? Elsewhere, the JPD are now more than ever in deep trouble. Having set up a Major Crimes Unit, the hope is that some big cases will help the departments image. On the criminal front, the Fortuna's are the new power but an unexpected player is causing problems...

Season 3: Dark City Blues
Official Theme: Thirst by City and Colour
Alternate Theme: Bleed by We Are The Ocean
Closing Theme: Dead Reckoning by Clint Mansell
Synopsis:
After a hotly contested election, a new Mayor has begun their first official term in office. So far, the Mayor has made good on the promises made but something dark is lurking just around the corner that no one could’ve predicted. The police are baffled by an extreme drop in criminal activities around the city. More and more dead criminals are being found and the JPD are at a standstill trying to figure out the cause as no single gang is taking responsibility for the dramatic events. If that wasn’t enough, a new designer drug known as Eyeshine has flooded the streets. It is highly addictive and highly dangerous; just another thing that the overworked police force have to contend with. Elsewhere, Old Town is under new management and the newest McKenna is struggling to come to terms with the dark side of the American dream…

Season 4: Night of the Hunter
Official Theme: Night of the Hunter by 30 Seconds to Mars
Closing Theme: Body in a Box by City and Colour -
Justice is a town overrun. The Freelancer’s are still going strong and are gaining support from the public with each passing day. Eyeshine is still flooding the streets with no end in sight and the McKenna’s are slowly regaining the power they once possessed following the departure of the Fortuna’s. The JPD are still fighting what seems like an eternal war against crime and corruption. The Mayor’s office is struggling to placate those that need it and meet the promises that were made. Little do any of these people know that a familiar evil will soon cast its shadow across the city, intent on settling old scores…

Season 5: King of the Mountain
Opening Theme: The Black Keys - When the Lights Go Out
Five long years have passed since the assassination of Allison McKenna; the innocent young girl gunned down because of a surname she shared with her gangster father. In the three years that followed, the town of Justice, California was engulfed in a tremendous chaos that saw public officials murdered, high standing police officers arrested for corruption, vigilantes and all-out war between the cities many many gangs. The past two years have been relatively quiet, although crime is still at an all-time high and current Mayor Andrea Valens is struggling to keep everything together. Since the departure of the Freelancer organisation and the DiAngelo family, Justice’s underworld is primarily ruled by one “Brutal” Brian Jagielski (cousin to former Mayor Isaac) and his massive network of criminals. Making their home at the docks, the Jagielski gang rule the streets with an iron fist and are one of the more sadistic gangs to ever grace the city. Recently however, a new gang has been making headway and causing lots of trouble for the Jagielski’s. The police are still buried under a lack of funding and corruption from within, hopes that a new Major Crimes Unit would reignite the flame have fallen by the wayside. Things begin to change one morning however, when officers respond to shots fired in the vicinity of Francis J McKenna High School…

Rules (as written by Kate):

1. We're in the casual section, so no one-liners and assist in building the world and your character up as we move through this ass-kicking story.
2. Respect each other or Kate will make you wish you did.
3. If there is a problem between players the GM's will help solve it so that we can do what we came to do - have fun and write something riveting.
4. Cussing, gore and romance is fine, but if you're getting into smexy time make sure you do that in your PM's. No one wants to see your big naked butt IC. :)
5. If you don't post within a week we'll check in with you and if we don't get a response we'll let Izzy remove your character IC in a manner most disturbing and highly entertaining.
6. We run a cast system on Justice. Two main characters is the limit with two to three recurring.
7. Have a good time

So what's the difference between main and recurring character in terms of what we will be doing?Appearance: Name: Nickname: (If Applicable) Age: Place of Birth: Family: (Only immediate family needed here) Occupation: (Legitimate and Illegal if applicable) Personality: (Two to three paragraphs) History: (Two or three paragraphs) Cast Status: (Main or recurring character) Extra: (Anything else you want to add) Temporary CS until I find out

A main character is the one you'll be using most of the time and whose story you want to explore. A recurring character is someone who you use a little less frequently and whose purpose is more in aid of either adding to a main characters story or the overall plot itself.

Awesome. Is your cop linked up to anyone yet? If not I'd like to link him to the new DA or head of the force. What do you think about me playing someone like that? A few years older, bossy as hell, but brilliant and hot. ??On the mafia side - I'll play a sister figure that is an assassin or something of that nature. My usual MO.

Nope. I think before the site went down, you and I talked about you being some sort of authority figure behind the case against the gang but also screwing one of your underlings. So yeah, I love the idea.

Sounds good to me, I can give you more details of the families in PM or email.
Katelyn said
It works perfectly. And I know you do, you bad boy. I shall try and frustrate you more! *New 2014 resolution is set*The start for the new season of Justice looks great. Tell me who you're playing and I'll see how to insert myself. I'm thinking I want to play a new DA that is rather difficult to deal with, but tries to clean up the city, only to find herself rather taken with one of the criminals.I'm totally playing a criminal as well. Still using the 2 characters playing rule at first, handsome?

Well the plan at the moment is the usual two main character limit and maybe two to three recurring if the player thinks they can handle it.

My main's will be a criminal who shows a character of Izzy's the dark side of Justice. My other is a cop who is part of task force that has been made to go after this gang. My recurrings will be the two heads of warring criminal factions.
Katelyn said
Hell yes! I'm just finishing my coffee and sitting pretty in my pjs at the kitchen table, so I'll take my preeeety arse over to e-mail and look over the details of the new story. Oh, btw... I found a picture last night that screams Mafia Boss. I'm thinking I'll get something rolling this weekend in casual. DO not feel pressured to come sexually frustrate me in there, but if you want to... HAHA!

Me? Feel pressured? Never. I sexually frustrate you because I enjoy it ;)

Sent you a message through the new message system, lets see how that works out.
