Tasha groaned slightly as she buried her face in her pillow, she had slept later than she normally would have but not by much. She was normally up before her alarm went off and even though she didn't have a shift until later in the day she kept it set at the same time every morning unless she had pulled an all night shift. Her alarm had gone off, soft music beginning to play from her playlist. Only thing she could think of at that point was at least it wasn't one of her heavier songs. She had a bit of a headache and her mind was foggy. What the hell had she done last night she wondered as she sat up and held the heels of her palms to her eyes and rubbed away the sleepiness.
Shaking off the grogginess was not going to work that morning and she slipped out of bed without giving it another thought. Right then the only thing she wanted was to down about a gallon of water and take a shower. She was sore as all get out, and her head was not playing nice right then. Her bare feet padded softly against the floor as she stepped over to the shower that was in the corner of her room. There was no bathroom proper, except for a small "closet" for the toilet in her room. The shower itself was set up in the corner between two windows. Tasha had done what she could to hang up some darker curtains over the windows so people couldn't see her clean up from outside but inside she really hadn't given it much thought. She had a low hanging shower curtain that was rigged up on a piece of rope. It covered the basics; kept the water from splashing out all over the room and covered her from just right above her breasts down to her thighs, kind of. It wasn't transparent but it was opaque.
Turning the knob she squealed with delight as the water actually came on. "Finally," said under her breath as the song continued to play in the background. The water coming from the shower head alone was enough to make her feel ten times better, the prospect of getting clean right then could make anyone's day better. Granted what had happened yesterday to cause her to be so sore and just yucky feeling? She still couldn't get a clear picture in her mind but she remembered a goat, something about a goat. And there was a lot of flashes of Emilio. What the hell happened?
Dominic's eyes opened to the sound of the song he had never heard before. He wondered if in a drunken shenanigan he had decided to fiddle with his usually amazing playlist (if he did say so himself). He ran his large hand down his bearded face, trying in vain to brush off the sleep. Last night was a bit of a blur but was definitely fun. Did he play Emilio last night? Fuck, that always gets you drunk really fast. "Wait....was the shower running?" Sitting bolt up like he had just awakened from a nightmare, Dom's head swiveled to the corner of the room and the sound vacated his throat leaving him gasping for words as he watched silently, Tas getting ready to get in the shower.
"Oh shit."
Shrugging she began to peel out of her clothing from the day before and tossing it into the hamper; her back constantly to the other side of her room. She sang along with the lyrics, her hips swaying with the beat of the music as each piece of clothing was discarded. A small smile playing on her lips but she didn't understand why. She felt like crap but she had woken up in a great mood. She felt serene right then, like there wasn't a care in the world. "Hell's at heaven's door as I need you more. You know you're my once in a lifetime," she sang softly as she stepped into the shower proper and hooked the curtain into place.
Tasha still hadn't noticed that Dom had awoken, hell she didn't even realize he was still there. Stepping under the water she giggled softly to herself, the water streaming over her head as she pushed her hair out of her face. Not being able to clean up yesterday had made her a bit more testy than normal yesterday; the fact her battered body was actually getting the luke warm washing it needed was beyond refreshing, not to mention it was helping to clear her head a bit from the fogginess. She was starting to remember a few things beyond the mine and the goat. Emilio kept popping into her mind, flashes of the Breakfast Club coming to mind. Wait... She remembered pulling that stupid stunt with applying her lip gloss without her hands. Why had she done that? That was a party gag. Slowly she stopped moving as her hands came up and pushed back the water from her face as her eyes opened; her fingers resting on her lips. She had been kissed. She remembered being kissed and the gentle tickle of beard brushing against her skin.
Dominic had now entered into one of life's great conundrums; should he stay or should he go? Tas was in the shower, it would've been easy for him to slip out of the front door, back to his room and hide there until his journeys end but every part of him was telling not to do that. Everything in him was telling him to stay; he wanted to stay. Swinging his legs out of bed, Dom scoured the room for the remnants of last night; the dvd player had paused on Emilio's face, beer bottles were littered everywhere, drops of lemon slice and clothing littered in places, oh wow. He pulled on the few clothes he had and immediately regretted it; it was hot as hell, muggy and hard to breathe, fucking air conditioning must've gone again, how lovely. As he made a short dash for the door, the yeti stopped with his hand on the handle, turning back to the shower in the non creepiest of ways, he smiled. This was so weird but he felt like leaving would probably be one of the biggest mistakes in his life and the mountain had made his fair share. Fuck he needed a mountain to think this over. Moving back into the main room, Dom sat back down on the bed, resigning himself to his fate.
What was the worst that could happen?
Tasha stood there, the water falling from the shower head onto her body slowly clearing the beer induced fog that was in her mind. Ducks, lots of ducks. And the kiss, she could remember the kiss and then she remembered more. She remembered strong arms wrapping around her. The song on her mp3 player switched over to something more awakening as her hand came to her chest, feeling it beginning to race at the memories coming to her mind from the night before. Her bottom lip rolling in as it was clenched between her teeth. "You can kiss me whenever the hell you want, Dr. Brinne." Dominic's words ringing through her mind as she drew a ragged breath. The last thing she could recall at the time was pulling herself closer to him as things heated up well beyond anything that summer heat of Jaipur could dish out and her face warming at the thought.
What happened after that? "Think woman think, just how far DID things go last night???" she thought to herself as she reached for the shower knobs and turned off the water, the sound of the water trickling off her body echoing through her one room suite as the music faded away and the playlist ended.
Dom heard the shower stop on the other side of the room and his breath became caught in his throat. This was it Dominic, last chance, get the hell out of dodge before it all goes wrong. He clenched his fists tight together in a nervous clasp and cracked his neck as he often did. Butterflies were in his stomach and trying to escape his mouth as she slowly pictured the entire scenario and how it ended in his head. More than likely it resulted in Natasha slapping his stupid yeti face, throwing him out and him getting on the next flight to Justice, California to visit his baby sister with his tail between his legs. He raised his head as right on cue, Tas emerged from the shower.
"Hi"
Tasha froze as she heard his voice, her eyes darting over to the bed. The water still dripping off her as she was in mid reach for a towel at the time. It was only a split second that she froze before she realized just how exposed she was and gave a startled jump that caused her to slip on the wet tiled floor and spilling out onto the ground. Quickly she curled over herself and looked back over to him in slight shock that he was just sitting there, apparently watching her shower. Had he seen everything last night? She still couldn't remember past a certain point but she did recall several items of clothing being pulled off and tossed here and there about her room. Taking a deep breath it came out with a slight tremble.
"Um... hi... Could you hand me the damn towel please?" she said as she looked over to him, giving him a nearly defeated glance in the process.
Dom grabbed the crunched up towel from the floor and quickly handed it to Tas with a sideways glance so as to not look at her amazingly naked amazing body. "I wasn't...erm...I didn't see anything, I was just..shit...words Dominic" He continued to trip over himself and failed to mount any kind of defense. The Dominator wasn't good with words at the best of times but now this just took the cake. Booking tickets to California now...He raised his head and decided that something must be said, all he had to do was find the words; easier said than done for old Dominic "I don't do words good" Mason. He scratched the back of his realizing how long the awkward silence had hung in the air like a dead man from the gallows.
Tasha took the towel from his hand and slowly slipped it around her chest before she sat up fully, her legs tucked beneath her as the water dripped from the ends of her hair and down her shoulders. She just sat there for a moment as she watched him tripping over himself, the silence was getting to be a bit much; especially for Dr. Natasha "Big mouth" Brinne. Tucking the end of the towel over itself to make sure it stayed around her she was about to say something when he ended up being the first to break the silence.
"I must've been born during an uncomfortable silence or something. Seems to happen to me a lot....Er, well I was just going to go while you showered but...that felt, douchey I guess. Especially given the fact, I...well I don't really want to go. So here I am."
As he spoke Tasha could help but break the blank look on her face as a smile started to crawl over her features and she began to giggle a bit, bringing her free hand that was not clasping the towel and covering the little chirps of humor as she looked away from him. She wasn't laughing at him, he was just so completely adorable like this. Clearing her throat she tried to contain the laughter from getting out of control and took a long calming breath between her lips before she found her eyes drifting back to the mountain of the man standing over her.
"You talk to much," she chuckled as she placed her hand under her; slowly and carefully rising to her feet and trying to make sure that she didn't slip again but it didn't really do any good. The floor was slick, she was bruised and sore from yesterday and before she knew it she had slipped again; this time her body landing against his; her hand coming out and grasping his broad shoulder to keep herself from having another unwelcome meeting with the ground.
"We really need to stop meeting like this Doctor Brinne"
Of course Dominic wasn't complaining, here he was holding a beauty sculpted by the God's, someone who made him smile. For a moment his thoughts drifted to his little sister and how she recently lost the person that made her smile, it worried him that she was all alone but hell, Jess was tougher than him by a Minnesota mile. The Yeti looked down to Tas as she looked up at him with those fucking eyes of hers and he raised his eyebrows, ever the clueless snowman. "This is the part where I kiss you again right?"
Their entire existence was quickly becoming a John Hughes movie. Nd true to form of such a generational movie Tasha wasn't sure how to take what was happening. Last night, what she could remember of it was amazing but had he meant what he said or was it just some drunken talk? He was calling her Dr. Brinne, and as he asked if this was the part if he should kiss her again she wondered if she was in the middle of a play. Looking down she took a deep breath and righted herself, clearing her throat in the process as she clung to the towel around her chest. Perhaps she wouldn't have said what she said last night without the help of a little liquid courage and the help of Emilio but she had meant it. She hoped he did as well. Slowly her eyes came back to his and she felt a lump forming in her throat, one she had to swallow to push back down.
"Only if you meant what you said last night," she said nervously as her lip curled in and she found herself biting the tender flesh.
