Yours Truly — Roleplayer Guild

Greetings, fellow writers. 

I'm going to begin with a few rhetorical question; ones that I'm certain you've asked yourself many times before. What do you believe justifies a storylines existence? What do you personally think is the most appealing aspect of the games and movies you cherish? What do you hope to convey most when you're writing out a roleplay reply? There's not an objectively right or wrong answer to any of these, but if you're anything like me then you might of answered: "Emotions". I don't want to be occupied when I reply, I want to FEEL engaged. I don't want to just like the characters we produce, I want to be able to empathize with them. I could go on, but I know you understand what I am saying; I want stories with have genuine emotive expression. Be it boiling anger when our protagonist bears witness to an injustice, tingling excitement radiating out our hero's very essence as they approach victory, primal lust needfully dripping from the characters during salacious scenes, or even feel the most human emotion of wishful hope dimming from the inevitable setbacks of life.   

Of course, I didn't bring you here just to contemplate and reflect on the role of emotions, but to find a suitable partner to propose a plotline with. Therefore, if my aforementioned ramblings resonate with you, then I humbly implore you consider roleplaying with 'Yours Truly'. I've already got several extraordinary ideas detailed below, some based in fandom and others purely original, which all focus on a central theme and feeling. I'm not rigid though, because these aren't strict prescriptions of what we must do, but more along the lines of intriguing suggestions which are flexible and negotiable. In other words, please don't shy away from giving me your own input or twist, as adding or changing something I have delineated can be part of the fun. As a sidenote, all the ideas listed below shall be in the order I prefer, so the further down it is then the less keen I am about it. Lastly, as there'll be some degree of sexuality present I do need you to be at least eighteen.

FANDOM: Mainline Pokémon Game Series.

FEELING/THEME: Unexpressed Frustration And Misplaced Anger.   

OVERVIEW: There is nothing quite as repetitive as the plot of Pokémon; revolving around some young adult who singlehandedly dismantles a criminal organization and defeats a supposed unbeatable champion in about a week, real banal stuff. But my tale ignores that fated hero entirely, and instead focuses on just some random guy, YOU! An unimportant and inconsequential person that had a fair shot at greatness, but simply wasn't good enough, and thus was ungraciously knocked out of the championship during the first round. Now you must return to the only place you can, home, which will bring many unpleasant emotions and situations with it. Some will only be temporary downers, such as the usually comforting normalcy of daily life now feeling like a downgrade in comparison to your brief taste of adventure. Yet others aspects will linger on indefinitely, like your newly registered Pokémon that serves as a constant reminder of your own inexorable mediocrity and humiliating failure to escape it.

You might constantly remind yourself it isn't her fault, perhaps you'll try to find fame and fortune with a different endeavour, or maybe you'll pathetically break down and permit the flow of life to stagnate in the wake of your own inadequacies. Regardless, a bitter resentment to the televised failings and memes of the supposed 'worst contender ever' will take form, and chip away at whatever might remain of a bond that was meant to be special. She'll eventually notice as well, but it's not like she can change the past, and so all her attempts to comfort or placate you will fail, till she too starts to feel wronged. A palpable, yet unspoken, tension shall follow them both as the reflection of their failures relentlessly beats down, until one of them finally does something the other will regret.                  

SIDENOTE: I'll be taking on the role of Pokémon, and whilst I'm not too fussy on playing whichever species befits your taste, it'll have to believably be a starting mon. That's to say nothing legendary or stage 2/3 on the evolutionary ladder. This roleplay could potentially be very violent if a more realistic approach to fighting is adopted, but it isn't necessary and can be toned down to be more PG, like you see in the actual games; assuming if you choose to have fighting at all past the first chapter.

FANDOM: N/A

FEELING/THEME: Curiosity Towards Novelty, Progressively Diluted By The Yearning For Familiarity.   

OVERVIEW: Everybody thinks space exploration is some extraordinary adventure, brimming with untold dangers and unutterable excitement, but it's mostly just paperwork. Your old job was as mundane as it can get, floating through the loneliest regions of the cosmos in a one-manned spaceship to produce reports on the infinite nothingness of space, until something finally happened. A mathematical error occurred within the automated computer system, resulting in you not sailing past some rogue planet tangentially, but into it. One error turned into another, distorting the AI's attempts to recalculate another evasive route, all whilst you peacefully slept, until you crash landed on barren world devoid of any familiarly. The closest star is lightyears away, plunging you into an eternal night, leaving you literally in the dark and with a feeling of otherworldly uncertainty.

Helps not coming; the constantly transmitted S.O.S coordinates mean nothing on a planet that doesn't have an orbit or path to track... But there's something else here that allows survival, there's life. Unlike a typical world, this one's surface is porous, and inside the narrow and endless 'caves' reside a primitive species which have made no progress beyond the discovery of fire. The species isn't even remotely similar to humans in structure or behaviour or biology, yet seem to cautiously accept you amongst them, provoking a sense of curiosity and optimism from you. However, as time marches on the novelty gradually wears away, and you begin to progressively warp their original lifestyle. You encourage them to act more like a human would, demanding gestures like eye-contact and smiling during communication, as well as ordering them all to specialize in specific roles for increased efficacy, similar to western culture on earth. But a return to what's perceived as familiar work both ways... So be careful with how much you push.

SIDENOTE: The biology of these aliens are negotiable, but as their world is largely interconnected caves which extend thousands of miles downwards, I'm currently of the opinion the most realistic approach would be a very short humanoid species which is capable of sticking to surfaces; to climb the innumerable walls and fit though the endless amount of narrow passages. Psychologically speaking, perhaps they'd be a hive-minded type which communicate mostly via smell, like that of certain bugs on earth.

FANDOM: Undertale

FEELING/THEME: Credulous Hope Which Slowly Morphs Into Regretful Distrust.

OVERVIEW: Everyone knows about the uplifting 'liberation tale', which freed the monsters from that godawful mountain they'd been trapped under. What is less known though is the rapid business and cultural expansion of the infamous 'Temmies', with those cute catty-canine creatures exploring the world to set up new 'Temmie tuwns n turrituriees' across the surface. These bizarre critters regularly tried to found new townships, seemingly unaware that in the human world it's not so simple, you can't just declare some land to be yours because it appears unoccupied. But these inadvertent invasions weren't taken too seriously by anybody, and so largely went unreported and unnoticed, allowing the issue to persist unresolved.      

This is where your own tale begins, with you just so happening to encounter another one of these attempts to found a town. You were miles away from home, exploring the countryside or forests, and stumbled across a poorly organized group of these monsters trying to build shelters. Naturally, they're welcoming and are begging you for advice on what to and how, assuming you'd just know everything there is to know about the daunting challenge of building a civilization from nothing, all because you're human. They are looking at you with trusting eyes, willing to believe and do anything you say, and you're far enough way from anyone else to feasibly do whatever you wish, without facing consequences. Will you help them, or misguide them?                   

SIDENOTE: I'll be taking on the role of these Temmies, keeping everything as faithful to the canon as possible. I know there's isn't too much interaction from them in the main game; but Temmie Village was so impactful, and the characters were so likable, that it would be a disservice to not explore what these loveable hybrids would do. The fighting system and HP system may not apply if we don't utilize any fights or aggression, but I'm willing to incorporate it if you want something extremely close to the fundamental mechanics of the game.
